Romance Webtoons

The best part of these is that they’re made by “beginners”. None of these comics have been turned into books(yet). You might already know Sarah Scribbles(who does have a book out. You can check it out here) who has some of her artwork and comics featured on webtoons. But for the most part, these are normal, everyday humans who create the comics

#1 I Love Yoo
Dogged by pain and misfortune from the very beginning, Shin-Ae decides she wants nothing to do with people nor anything to do with romance. Although content with her unsocial, boring, loveless existence, her lifestyle is challenged after she ruins an unsuspecting strangers’ clothes.
This was probably the second webtoon I have ever read and it’s still ongoing. There are tons of chapters and the artwork is incredible. It’s also one of the few stories where I’m not sure who I’m rooting for. I love both of the main male characters even with such different personalities. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good romance webtoon with tons of meme references.
#2 True Beauty
After binge-watching beauty videos on YouTube, a shy, comic book fan masters the art of make-up, then sees her social standing skyrocket as she becomes her school’s prettiest pretty girl literally overnight. But will her elite status be short-lived? How long can she keep her “real self” a secret? And what about that cute boy she likes? Could you imagine if he found out the truth?
This is one of the most popular webtoons out there. I liked it for how realistic it was. Especially when the female heroine first started wearing makeup. I think we have ALL been there. The story is cute but touches on a deeper meaning that will tear at your heartstrings. It definitely shows us what TRUE beauty is.
#3 Ghost Wife
He’s a dark, uber-powerful god-level demon…who’s also really helpful around the house. Welcome to the unique world of Ghost Wife, where an average high school girl can go to sleep with normal teenage problems, only to wake up and find herself married to an over-protective demon with a creepy smile and an appetite for live cats.
#4 Age Matters
She’s a hopeless romantic who’s turning 30 – and is not super happy about it. He’s a reclusive billionaire who’s hired her to be his assistant – and he’s not too happy about that either. Together they rewrite the rules of friendship, love, work and the BEST way to clean someone’s apartment.
Another one that started slowly at the beginning and only got better. The artwork is decent and the heroine is relatable in her emotions. You’ll find yourself laughing along with the characters and the scenes are enjoyable.
#5 Siren’s Lament
Content with her ordinary life, Lyra is somewhat of a wallflower. However, her comfortable lifestyle suddenly goes astray when she accidentally plunges into the world of sirens. Entangled in a curse, Lyra will learn that her world may be a lot bigger than she had ever imagined.
I saved the best one for last! I LOVED this webtoon so much that I even created a Pinterest board for it. The artwork is incredible. It’s like reading something professional. It’s another one that I’m not sure who I ship with who. Both male characters are so lovable and have great personalities.
There is already two seasons of Siren’s Lament but it’s on pause for now and will be returning in April this year. Still, it’s the most recommended webtoon out of them all.
So there you have it! Have you already read some of these webtoons? What did like or not like? Also, if you have any more recommendations, please let me know in the comments below!
