2024 is halfway through but we’re still expecting two more seasons full of both new anime and returning favorites. With that in mind, here are the most anticipated anime series of 2024 that you should add to your watch list!

The series follows a really smart but weird detective guy named Ron. He used to be the best but got in trouble and lost his detective license. Now he helps an unskilled cop named Totomaru solve crimes. They’re an odd pair, but they’re good at catching bad guys.
Season 2 will be another wild ride with the eccentric detective. Expect more crazy cases, weird people, and even weirder solutions.
14. Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga

Blue Exorcist is a classic school-set shonen anime with a likable main character at its core. Despite his retirement, the assassin’s skills remain sharp, and he defeats the agent. Recognizing the assassin’s unmatched abilities, the agent accepts defeat and later joins the shop as a worker. The story follows Sakamoto’s new life as he balances family, business, and his adventurous encounters with various agents sent to claim his bounty.
12. Dragon Ball Daima

Dragon Ball Daima is a new Dragon Ball anime series where Goku and his friends are magically turned into children. They embark on a new adventure to find a way to reverse the transformation and uncover the mystery behind it.
Daima was initially planned as an anime-original series without Akira Toriyama’s input. However, after offering some advice, Toriyama became deeply involved, creating the story, world, characters, mechs, and more. He handled the story, settings, and many of the designs.

There are several great shounen sports anime like Haikyuu or Kuroko’s Basketball, but Blue Box takes a refreshing route by mixing sports with romance.
A coming-of-age story, Blue Box is about a high school boy named Taiki who’s in love with his upperclassman, Chinatsu. They train together every morning, he for badminton and she for basketball. When Chinatsu’s family moves abroad, she ends up living with Taiki’s family, which brings them even closer.

The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You Season 2 will continue the chaotic and hilarious journey of Rentaro, the guy who somehow ended up with 100 girlfriends.
The MC, Aijou Rentarou faced 100 heartbreaks in Junior High. Praying at a shrine, he meets the Love God, who reveals Aijou will encounter 100 soulmates in high school. If any relationship fails, the girls will die from unfortunate events. Now, it’s a matter of love or death, and it’s up to Aijou to decide.
9. Shangri-La Frontier Season 2

Shangri-La Frontier follows Rakuro Hizutome, a guy who is solely focused on one thing—overcoming terrible VR games. One day, he decides to challenge himself by playing the popular game “Shangri-La Frontier.” However, he quickly realizes how difficult it is. Will his expert skills be enough to uncover its hidden secrets?
Season 2 will pick up right where season 1 ended, continuing the story with new characters Kyoju and Aramis, who made their debut in the finale.
8. Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online II

Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online is a spin-off of the popular game isekai series Sword Art Online. It follows Karen, a shy girl who transforms into a badass gamer named Llenn in the virtual world. She loves pink, guns, and is exceptionally skilled at shooting.
Season 2 will continue directly from Season 1. As the storylines don’t overlap with the original series, you can watch Season 1 and move on to this without needing to see the original.

6. Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen – Soukoku-tan

The original Bleach anime ran for a total of 366 episodes from 2004 to 2012. It was a popular series filled with memorable life lessons and quotes that, along with Naruto and One Piece, formed the “big three” of shonen anime.
As for the Sennen Kessen-hen (Thousand-Year Blood War) arc, this final arc is divided into four cours. Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen – Soukoku-tan is the third part of Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen. It picks up where Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen – Ketsubetsu-tan left off.
