It’s no secret that Love and DeepSpace is among one of the top 10 most played otome games this year. And just like the Twilight saga had all of us preteens fighting over the Edward vs Jacob, LaDS has all of us yelling at the top of our lungs over who was the best. So while I waited for the latest 4.0 update to finish going through, I thought I would make a list and ask other fans their opinions.
Xavier
Okay, first we have Xavier. I started with him since he’s technically who you meet first in the game.
I’m a sucker for angst and Xavier has that in spades. He sees MC (main character) die over and over again and chooses to keep going on missions to save her from dying and reincarnating all the time. (For those who are confused, don’t worry, I’ll be doing a deep dive soon into his myth(s)). He completely devotes himself to her. He’s not the best at communicating, but he’s gotten better. You can see the difference in his cards Misty Silhouette (which is HOT) and then Feverish where they actually have communication and grow together. Both cards are top tier in my opinion. Even if we all thought that Feverish would be more spicy, the story content was still amazing.
I love his personality and so many others can agree. Xavier’s Little Star is the name for us girlies (and guys!). He seems to be type that would leave a pen at your house just to have the excuse to come see you later. And he’s obsessed with food and sleep. Which is amazing! If you’ve heard his asmr video on Youtube, he doesn’t count sheep, he counts EGG TARTS. It’s perfect. He’s the type of guy that would bring you food and you would both cuddle and then take a nap. He’s reserved, intelligent and observant.
Still, even with how soft and dorky he can be, Xavier is also extremely elegant, most likely due to his whole prince background. He can also be totally smooth with his lines such as this interaction…
Xavier: Really? I never solved problems with a kiss before.
MC: That might be because you never find yourself in an argument.
Xavier: We can argue now if you want.
Like, what?! Man has skill. He’s just the right amount of bold and gentle. He’s not perfect, which I think makes it even better. Xavier deals with jealousy a lot and it’s something the MC and him have to work on as they grow together.
In Short, Xavier is a favorite for so many reason.
This man is THE “I’ll burn everyone and everything down for you” man, and it’s not just words – he’s already proven himself to do that multiple times.
Sylus
Okay, I HAD to do Sylus next. He’s actually my main so I’ll try not to be too biased in this part.
Force me to pick one and I will always pick Sylus. He was the reason I downloaded the game. I saw the white hair and red eyes and thought “Oh, another version of Astarion. This might be fun” and I was right. Both Sylus and Astarion are huge divas but would throw the world at their loves feet.
He doesn’t love the idea of someone more than the actual person. He’s fiercely protective, and challenges MC without making it feel like he expects more.
He’s got the right amount of snark and sass, while being able to be serious when needed. He’s not afraid to love, and he loves selflessly and wholeheartedly. His fierceness towards everyone else, but such gentleness with MC really makes me have a soft spot for him.
When he meets us (the current MC) we don’t get off on the best foot. I mean, he is a mafia boss and we just went through a whole ideal with his gang and stuff blowing up.
He was desperate for MC to remember him, be able to resonate, then got told his soulmate thought he was disgusting… This man was going THROUGH it. So naturally, he and MC don’t get off on the best foot.
Since Sylus isn’t one of the original 3, he has less content, so his relationship can seem a lot more fast than say Xavier or Zayne’s. Not to mention, because this is a gacha game, you only get the cards in a random number so most likely, you’re reading/watching their relationship out of order.
They started off rough but Sylus eventually got it through his head that he needed to back down. He couldn’t force MC to remember him or their past. Even though they are literal SOULMATES. Just like the other Love Interest’s couldn’t do that either. He had to take it slow and basically begin again.
There are SO many reasons to love him but when I try to articulate it enough it just comes out as insvixsnvosxvnm fangirl nosebleed. He’s my 3d husband and my in real life husband is totally okay with it. (I mean, my husband watched me fangirl over Astarion too so I think he’s used to it)
Zayne
Next we have our lovely doctor Zayne
I didn’t like him at all in the beginning but as time passed he became my favorite. I watched a few of his cards and slowly but surely, he snuck into second place that was originally reserved for Xavier. Zayne is my very close second fave (for those who main both Sylus and Zayne, we’re called SnowCrow) And his eyes…seriously, his eyes are gorgeous.
Zayne comes across as so stoic but he’s so much more than that. As someone else put it, “He’s calm, cool, collected and can probably destroy you with his pinky finger, blind folded, reciting the alphabet backward, and standing on one foot.” I wish I could remember who said that! It stuck with me and just describes him perfectly.
But I absolutely love that Zayne’s love for MC, as of at this point in the Main Story, is not based on his memories of their past/ future lives (because, yes, this game is set in the past/present AND future). While others have the memories of their past lives, they already had strong feelings for her before meeting her officially in this timeline and have to get to know her and pursue her again. Zayne doesn’t have that since he doesn’t remember their past life (lives) either.
And the day he does regain all his memories, I can’t even tell you how Master of Fate AND Forseer are gonna react to everything, but man I am excited for it!
Rafayel
Okay, I’ll be honest and say that I’m not a Rafayel main. In fact, I can usually skip his cards…with the exception of his latest myth.
Rafayel is very much like Marius Von Hagen (Tears of Themis). They could be twins in their ways of showing affection/love to the MC.
He’s sassy and needy, completely unafraid to be himself which is something that a lot of us like.
I think it’s amazing that he can still be so childlike and kind, even with him remembering all his past/future lives. Rafayel runs head first into it with a pouty face and I think it’s super cute. He’s a literal God and gives himself completely to MC.
To be with Rafayel is to slow down, be present in the moment, and to truly live life with eyes wide open. He’s completely devoted and his love is so pure.
And with his last myth, Raf girlies really need a happy ending. We all wanted the Lemurian myth…we all wanted to see him with a freaking tail…and we got that…but at what cost?
Seafoam you guys. His myth had so many of us (including myself) in TEARS. The artwork was just so pretty and I had enough diamonds saved in my free 2 play account that I decided to pull for his cards, and I’m glad that I did.
Caleb
Caleb is the last love interest to be introduce, even though technically we already knew him. He’s the whole best friend/grew up together/raised together trope and the fandom is going for it. He’s a bit of a yandere (okay, understatement) but he truly does care and love MC.
No hate on him though. I’m still going through his stories/cards to get a full read on him but fans are pretty 50/50 on Caleb. There is a bit of controversy with Caleb, especially as a Love Interest so I’ll just say this here…
MC canonically sees Caleb as her CHILDHOOD FRIEND
A lot of people using the argument “they’re siblings” “he’s the brother” to invalidate Caleb as an LI.
Caleb and MC were raised in the same house. In America, most people would consider that to be more of a sibling relationship than friends, even with no blood relation. If their relationship makes someone uncomfortable because of that and they don’t want to actively date Caleb, that’s understandable and perfectly fine.
HOWEVER, it’s important to understand cultural differences. America is not the entire world, and this game is made in China. There, their relationship is definitely more like childhood friends than siblings. There’s nothing wrong, creepy, weird, or incestuous about MC and Caleb’s relationship. And just because you may personally not like it, doesn’t mean other people are bad or wrong for liking it.
All in all, there’s a reason to like/love each guy. Infold really made a guy for everyone to like. Or even gain our own harem’s. It’s almost impossible to have just ONE love interest. Hence why most of us (myself included) have more than one account. Stay tuned for the diamond and grinding post/video that will be coming up soon!
