Unfortunately, more often than not, this genre is ridden with clichรฉs, lazy fan service, and shallow writing. Still, there are a few standout ecchi anime that have good plots and interesting characters that don’t make you question what you are watching.
1. Mushoku Tensei
Here’s something crazy: an entire studio was founded just to animate this story. A 34-year-old NEET dies saving teenagers and reincarnates as Rudeus Greyrat in a fantasy world, determined to live without regrets. The ecchi content lands hard and controversially since Rudeus keeps his adult mind in a child’s body, creating genuinely uncomfortable moments.
What makes the plot work is the legitimate redemption arc about a flawed person becoming better. Unlike most isekai, Rudeus earns everything through actual study and effort. The worldbuilding features distinct cultures, magic systems, and detailed politics. His story spans childhood to old age with realistic consequences, treating reincarnation as genuine second chances rather than power fantasy.
2. Food Wars!
Cooking shouldn’t be this intense, yet here we are watching chefs strip clothes off through sheer flavor power. Soma Yukihira enrolls in Totsuki Culinary Academy, where only 10% graduate, facing “shokugeki” cooking battles that determine everything from dorm survival to career futures. The infamous foodgasm reactions trigger ecchi scenes that are absolutely ridiculous but played for comedy rather than titillation.
What elevates this beyond fan service is the legitimate cooking expertise. Recipes are real and detailed, techniques get properly explained, and watching Soma improvise culinary solutions feels genuinely exciting. The shounen tournament structure translates surprisingly well to cooking competitions, creating actual tension about who makes better food. Five seasons proved this concept has staying power beyond shock value.
3. No Game No Life
Two shut-in gamers get transported to a world where literally everything gets decided through games. Siblings Sora and Shiro face chess matches, poker, video games, and increasingly absurd challenges against fantasy races far more powerful than humans. Madhouse’s vibrant neon color palette makes the world feel like Las Vegas meets a fantasy kingdom, creating a dreamlike aesthetic that separates this from typical isekai when it premiered.
The fan service is frequent and polarizing, especially regarding 11-year-old Shiro, which understandably pushes many viewers away. But the actual gaming strategy shines through: watching these underdogs outwit opponents through genuine cunning rather than power feels legitimately thrilling. The show knows it’s ridiculous and leans into wacky comedy rather than taking itself seriously, making the ecchi more tolerable than pretentious fan service.
4. Gushing over Magical Girls
Asahi Production’s 2024 adaptation might be the most polarizing anime on this list, requiring three censorship versions because the content is that extreme. Utena Hiiragi adores magical girls until mascot Venalita transforms her into an evil organization’s executive instead of the hero she dreamed of becoming. During battles against her beloved Tres Magia trio, she discovers a deeply buried sadistic nature that awakens when watching them suffer.
The BDSM imagery and psychological torment will absolutely drive viewers away, which the creators understand and embrace. But underneath the shocking fan service lies a surprisingly thoughtful deconstruction of magical girl tropes and character psychology. For those who can stomach the explicit content, the deeper themes like identity exploration and desire will be rewarding.
5. Highschool DxD
When someone thinks about ecchi with a good plot, Highschool DxD is usually at the top of that list. This anime has some serious staying power beyond just simple fan service full of busty ladies. In this show, a perverted high schooler, Issei Hyodo, gets murdered on his first date by a fallen angel, then revived as a devil by Rias Gremory to serve her family.

That said, the author, Ichiei Ishibumi, created genuine mythology by blending Biblical figures with Norse legends and Japanese yokai.
6. Kill la Kill
Director Hiroyuki Imaishi has said that the similar Japanese pronunciations of โfascismโ and โfashionโ were one of the conceptual sparks behind the series, helping shape its fusion of authoritarian imagery and clothing culture. Vagrant schoolgirl Ryuko Matoi hunts her father’s killer at Honnouji Academy, a school ruled fascistically by student council president Satsuki Kiryuin. Clothing contains alien Life Fibers that grant superhuman abilities, forcing Ryuko into increasingly revealing battle armor called Senketsu.
The transformation sequences are gynecological in their male-gaze leering, undeniably crossing lines that make many viewers abandon it immediately. But Trigger’s 2013 series won multiple awards for genuinely deconstructing magical girl tropes and fascist aesthetics through intentional absurdism. Whether the extreme fan service serves the satire or undermines it remains hotly debated, but its 7.8/10 IMDb rating suggests that the anime is being taken seriously by a large audience.
7. Interspecies Reviewers
Getting banned from Tokyo MX, Amazon Prime Video, and Funimation simultaneously is quite the achievement. Passione’s 2020 series follows adventurers Stunk, Zel, and hermaphrodite angel Crimvael reviewing brothels staffed by succubi of various fantasy species, rating their experiences like Yelp for sex work. The explicit content blurs ecchi into softcore territory, requiring multiple censored versions to broadcast anywhere.
What rescues this from pure pornography is the surprisingly thoughtful worldbuilding, exploring how different species have incompatible preferences. Elves value different traits than humans or dwarves, creating commentary about subjective beauty standards and sexual compatibility. The sex-positive approach acknowledges diverse bodies and desires without judgment. Twelve episodes of graphic monster girl encounters won’t appeal to everyone, but the comedy and fantasy worldbuilding earned genuine praise from viewers who could stomach the intensity.
8. SHIMONETA
Imagine Japan where saying “penis” out loud gets you arrested. J.C.Staff’s 2015 dystopian comedy follows Tanukichi Okuma entering the nation’s most morally upstanding high school, only to get recruited by vice president Ayame Kajou, who moonlights as a terrorist “Blue Snow,” wearing panties on her face while spreading pornographic leaflets to fight authoritarian censorship laws.
The satire works because the government monitors citizens through PM collars, detecting obscene language and gestures, forcing people to use clinical terms like “gluteus maximus” in private homes. The ecchi comedy divides viewers sharply: either you appreciate the political commentary about censorship or find the constant vulgarity exhausting.
9. Trinity Seven
Protagonist Arata Kasuga openly admits he’s a pervert without the stammering apologies we can see in many harem anime. When his world gets destroyed by Breakdown Phenomenon and his cousin Hijiri disappears, he enrolls at Royal Biblia Academy to master magic alongside seven powerful mages representing the deadly sins. Seven Arcs Pictures built a surprisingly detailed magic system where students study “thema” furthest from their personality, creating interesting character dynamics.
The fan service never stops, not even during battles. But what earns this a spot is Arata’s refreshing honesty about attraction and willingness to fight alongside the Trinity Seven rather than just using them. It might not be the deepest magic school anime out there, but the mix of comedy, chaos, and extra spice clearly worked for a lot of viewers.
10. Golden Boy
This 1995 OVA remains legendary decades later, partly because the English dub by Doug Smith elevates already absurd comedy into something transcendent. Twenty-five-year-old Kintaro Oe completed Tokyo University law requirements, then quit to bicycle across Japan studying life through part-time jobs. Each of six episodes presents a new workplace and a woman whose problems Kintaro solves through bizarre competence hidden beneath perverted buffoonery.

There are many folks who believe that all ecchi is just fan service with no brains. However, New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt proves that you can have both risquรฉ antics and a good plot. Panty and Stocking are two angel sisters taking down ghosts in a city full of absurdity. They are sarcastic, wild, and totally unfiltered, bringing a cartoonish energy that hits like Powerpuff Girls meets South Park.
Between over-the-top action, playful innuendo, and surprisingly sharp story moments, the show keeps you laughing while actually caring about the fights. If you want ecchi with humor, style, and a little heart, this one delivers big time.
13. Saekano

14. Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar
Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar throws you into a world of giant mechs, magic, and ridiculously over-the-top battles. Youโve got a young hero dealing with a land full of gorgeous, powerful girls who are as smart as they are dangerous.
Compared to some other ecchi anime on this list, this show has most of the fan service lightly sprinkled around the action or plot scenes, so it doesnโt completely steal the spotlight. The focus is still on mechs, magic, battles, and the story, unlike full-on ecchi anime, where fan service drives the episodes. Since Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar is a standalone spin-off, you can jump in right away without prior Tenchi knowledge.
15. Prison School
If thereโs one ecchi anime thatโs completely outrageous from start to finish, itโs Prison School. Five guys get thrown into a strict all-girls school, where the rules are hilariously harsh. The story follows their desperate attempts to survive the student councilโs punishments while scheming to regain their freedom.
A guilty pleasure for many, Prison School is the kind of show most fans wouldnโt openly recommend to their friends, yet the mix of ecchi scenes and absurd comedy somehow works perfectly. The hilarious facial expressions, over-the-top reactions, and ridiculous situations are what really make the humor click, delivering a nonstop barrage of zany humor.

Rias Gremory is voted one of the best girls in Highschool DxD and is the main love interest of the protagonist, Issei Hyodo. If you haven’t seen it, the anime is an ecchi romance filled with MANY beautiful ladies.

Mayumi Nishikino is an office lady and resident of the Kawai Complex, and has bad luck with men, dating three-timing men that leave her heartbroken and resentful of happy couples.
She is a very straightforward person who isn’t afraid to tell others what she thinks about them. Her mood swings are fierce, with Shirosaki taking most of the physical attack and Usa getting jokes made at his expense. That being said, she does care about every resident of the Kawai complex.
10. Major Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell
Major Motoko Kusanagi is a cyborg employed as the squad leader of Public Security Section 9. She uses her wits and cybernetic body to bring criminals to justice.
Motoko has a commanding presence but can also be very playful with her subordinates and people close to her. Additionally, she loves scuba diving for relaxation.

Summary

Only a handful of students escape the initial outbreak โ among them Takashi Komuro and his childhood friend, Rei. He manages to protect Rei from the initial onslaught, but how long can Takashi and the other students hope to survive when the whole school โ maybe the whole town โ is out for their blood?!
Even if you are not into ecchi, there is enough action, comedy, suspense, and some interesting characters to make it enjoyable in that aspect alone.

Summary

Although Kurogane Ikki is a student at an institution that trains Mage-Knights, he has no particular talent in magic and is labeled the “Failure Knight” or “Worst One.” Getting way less than average marks in the scorings, he was forced to repeat a year. But with the arrival of a new head of the institution, a new rule was created: knights whose abilities are compatible, as decided by the board, must share rooms and attend practice and training together throughout their school years to bring up their abilities to the max. It is a rule to implement the absolute verdict of ability.
Ikkiโs roommate, Stella Vermillion, turns out to be a princess of another foreign country. Stella is a Rank A knight: the type of genius in magic who only appears once a decade. When Ikki walked in on her while she was changing her clothes, it caused a huge misunderstanding (since neither yet knew of the new rule) which eventually ended up in a duel between the two of them. The punishment (or as some might see it, the prize) of the losing side is Eternal Submission to the winning side.
Forced to live the same room and practice magic together throughout all their school years, how will Stella and Ikkiโs relationship evolve?
I would recommend this anime to anyone who likes battle tourney tropes, romance, and ecchi. It definitely has a little bit for everyone to love and enjoy.

High School DxD at first glance doesn’t stand out much, but it’s more than just another harem filled with well-endowed beauties. In fact, it has emotion, drama, and even an interesting plot.

Yuma is revealed to be a fallen angel named Reinare who was sent on a mission to eliminate divine weapons. The series has amazing art and plenty of character development, which is rather rare for ecchi. If you ever felt awkward in high school, this is a safe and relatable pick.

There’s only one small problem, the boy doesn’t know anything about sex or the ancient art of seduction, meaning her quest to conquer him will be a difficult one.
Yamadaโs First Time: B-gata H-kei is amazing to watch and has a bit for everyone, even if you are not an ecchi fan, you will still enjoy yourself. It’s an anime that deals with silly insecurities that we have or had that we can relate to on some level.

Trinity Seven is an ecchi romance anime with a likeable lead and charming female characters. It’s one of the anime which I have really enjoyed.
Everyday is a normal day in the small town where Kasuga Arata lives. However, everything changed on the day of the Black Sun, and following it, a magician appears before him. The Black Sun caused the Breakdown Phenomenon which destroyed the town where he lives. Because of this, his normal life was artificially reconstructed by a Grimoire that his childhood friend had left. Just what is the purpose of the magician coming to the town? What will he do with the Grimoire’s keepsake?
The show is well-written, and the interactions of the characters with each other and their relationships were done well. It has fan service, good character design, and plenty of laughs. Definitely give it a try.
7. To LOVE-Ru

To LOVE-Ru is just mindless comedic fun entertainment. The plot is pretty stupid, but makes up for it by being funny and entertaining.

For someone who just wants to watch something with a change of pace or an anime that doesn’t take itself too seriously, this series won’t disappoint. With likeable characters, nice music, and good voice acting, it will be more than enough to satisfy most ecchi fans.
6. Shuffle!

Shuffle! is a blend of supernatural, harem, ecchi, romance, comedy, and drama. It feels fairly average to begin with but definitely has some surprises for you.
The world as we know it was suddenly altered forever when the door for the dimension of the gods and the door of the dimension of the demons suddenly opened up. Ten years later, a boy named Tsuchimi Rin was entrusted with two princesses from those dimensions. Will he be able to keep his sanity while living with his childhood friend Kaede, trying to live a normal school life, and also being a neighbour to both of princesses and their fathers, the mighty dimension Lords? The hearts of those girls are at stake and only Rin has the key to unlock them.
A cast of beautiful girls and one guy is definitely what most harem fans will appreciate. The plot was done in a way that with each episode we got to understand and relate with our characters more. Shuffle! is definitely a classic series that ecchi anime and most romance anime fans will enjoy.

Heaven’s Lost Property: Forte is the second season of the series of Heaven’s Lost Property and is actually 12 episodes but the first season is 25. And was just as good as the first season. The show is an ecchi comedy at heart, with amazing characters, epic music, and a rich plot.
Sakurai Tomoki is a normal student whose motto is โnormal is the bestโ. If there is one thing abnormal, it is that he often dreams of a girl whose face he cannot even remember, and when he wakes up from that dream, he would always be crying. He tried leaving it as just a dream… but one day, from the sky, an angel descended.
Heaven’s Lost Property: Forte is a legitimately fun ecchi romance comedy that I definitely recommend anyone who likes this genre to give a try if you haven’t seen it already.
4. Zero no Tsukaima (The Familiar of Zero)

The Familiar of Zero is more than just a simple and fun ecchi romance anime. It has depth with its character development, intrigue, and romance.
In a world where sorcery reigns supreme, bumbling witch-in-training Louise Francoise le Blanc de La Valliere is known by her classmates at the Tristain Academy of Magic as “Louise the Zero.” During an important coming-of-age ritual, when each student must summon a lifelong familiar, Louise proves herself klutz when she mistakenly conjures a teenage boy from Earth. Now, whether they like it or not, Louise and her unwilling servant, Saitou, are bound to each other by the laws of magic for all eternity!
The Familiar of Zero kept me watching as the credits rolled. It was one of those series I wanted more of, as I watched the last episode and really got attached to the characters.
3. Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata (Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend)

Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend is an ecchi romance anime with a simple and interesting plot. That was funny and felt like a fresh take on a rarely used plot.
A high school otaku named Aki Tomoya runs into his dream girl one day… Now with his otaku passions, Tomoya wants to turn the girl into a heroine in the only realm he is familiar with: 2D dating simulation game. To accomplish this objective, he scouts Eriri Spencer Sawamura, his half-foreigner childhood friend equipped with artistic talent, as the illustrator, Kasumigaoka Utaha, a famous prodigy writer, as the script writer and cousin Michiru Hyoudou to compose music. The tale of a small not quite doujin circle, but not quite indie studioโs journey through the tough territory of comiket and beyond.
About an otaku with a dream to create a new game that’s better than anything out there, with a group of talented friends, I think it’s something we can all relate to at some level. Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend was funny and definitely a breath of fresh air. And definitely for moe, ecchi, comedy, and visual novel fans.

Spring the “season of love” has arrived and it seems that finding himself a girlfriend was harder than Junichi Hashiba believed. To break the status quo, Junichiโs friends have forced him into confessing to the gyaru, Yame Yukana. However, things do not go quite as he expected. A series of firsts begins!
Characters of this anime felt and interacted in a way that felt true to their character. This series is a fantastic show if you love comedy, slightly perverted jokes, ecchi, romance, or a slice-of-life series that isn’t super innocent.

Bakemonogatari is different from other ecchi romance anime in that even if you took out the ecchi and romance elements it would still be entertaining.
Bakemonogatari centres on Koyomi Araragi, a third-year high school student who is almost human again after briefly becoming a vampire. One day, a classmate named Hitagi Senjougahara, who infamously never talks to anyone, falls down the stairs into Koyomiโs arms. He discovers that Hitagi weighs next to nothing, in defiance of physics. After being threatened by her, Koyomi offers his help, and introduces her to Meme Oshino, a strange middle-aged man living in an abandoned building, who cured him of being a vampire…
Bakemonogatari follows Araragi as he attempts to help those who suffer from supernatural maladies.
There is a lot to love for everyone in Bakemonogatari from the in-depth character conversations, fourth-wall-breaking, sleek art, the supernatural, romance, and last but not least let’s not forget the ecchi. Bakemonogatari is brilliant.

Aki Sora is the tale of a young boy and his desire to be with his older sister. The anime is one of the most infamous of its genre. Unlike Kiss x Sis where the characters are not blood-related, and the reminds of this on multiple occasions, Aki Sora doesn’t try to give any explanation.

Because I Don’t Like My Big Brother At All!! is a slice of life and slapstick comedy that follows Nao Takanashi, who has a crush on her stepbrother, and fights for his attention against his childhood friend and cosplay-obsessed girl.
At number five on our list of similar anime to Kiss x Sis is Oreimo, both series cover some of the same subjects, with both being about a brother and sister, and with both being mostly made up of a female cast. Itโs a nice, fun and relaxing watch.
Oreimo follows Kyousuke Kousaka, who is a normal high school student who suddenly finds himself involved in his little sister’s secret hobby, mature games, and anime. Since up till now his sister, Kirino, has basically had nothing to do with him till now. She is suddenly willing to open up to him. Now he finds himself helping Kirino acquire new games, hiding her hobby from her friends, helping her make new friends, and I repair their sibling bond.

Plot Summary
Shuichi Kagaya isnโt human. He has an unnatural sense of smell and can transform into an incredibly powerful beast… of sorts. He does all he can to avoid standing out and being discovered, but no good deed goes unpunished, and his decision to use his power to save a girl spells the end of his quiet life.
What did I think?
Gleipnir is an anime that seems to borrow from Norse mythology, with an Alien that acts like the trickster Loki and a boy that turns into a wolf-like mascot outfit, who has been subdued mentally to forget his past and if he ever does break free from these shackles and remembers will be the beginning of the end.
Gleipnir meaning โthe open oneโ is an anime about monsters, human desire, unity and interpersonal relationships. Gleipnir is definitely not your ordinary anime, offering some fresh experiences in how it explores many deep issues about young adult minds.
STORY
Gleipnir has a lot of crazy, unique and exciting things to offer. It is relatively short, which makes it easy for anyone to pick up and watch without worrying about having to catch up on 100+ episodes.
Its an anime with a very slow unravelling plot that leaves more unanswered mysteries than answered mysteries. And dialogue that can be considered confusing and unrealistic sometimes. Gleipnir continuous fanservice halfway through the series also felt unnecessary at certain scenes.
But some of Gleipnir faults might be from the herculean task of trying to fit so much of the plot into 13 episodes. Gleipnir is a dark gory story that can be seen as a coming-of-age story as our protagonists Clair Aoki and Shuichi Kagaya, start to come to terms with their traumas and desires.
Gleipnir plot is unique, with battle royale elements and an interesting building theme on the weight of oneโs own sins. It can be very convoluted the first four episodes, with the way it throws a lot of themes at you at once but it does start to settle down.
CHARACTER
The two protagonists are our classic red and blue ogre, yin and yang protagonist pairing. Separately Clair and Shuichi will have ended up being meh characters but together they balance each otherโs personalities out and help us learn a little bit more about themselves in each episode. It was interesting to watch both characters development and see them trying to find that middle ground.
Other characters sometimes felt one-dimensional or like afterthoughts kept to fill the world of Gleipnir. But even though they didnโt feel fully fleshed-out, characters were complex, with flaws and reasons that explained why they acted the way they did. And made it feel strangely like it was done intentionally to make you feel like you were meeting actual strangers that if you got to see more of, learnt more about but if you didn’t really, wouldn’t know anything about them.
Animation
The animation quality was really great. Characters, transformations, choreographed battles and scenes seemed to have more depth to them. Even little things like characters changing clothes or moving from point A to B was actually well animated and thought of. Gleipnir art is really pleasing to the eyes especially during its moments of calm and less dark and brutal moments.
Sound
Gleipnir music can be wonderful at times, helping complement the narration, thrill and mystery. I especially noticed how it helped set the mood for some fights and made them feel more fleshed-out than they were.
Episode 7of Gleipnir. We got to see another side of Shuuichi and get an idea of how powerful he and Clair could be. It was another side of him I would like to see more of next season.
Least favourite moment?
Episode 12of Gleipnir. Gleipnir didn’t pull the punches in this episode, it was completely dark and brutal. No one should ever feel unloved or unwanted.
Favourite character?
Madoka
He is a character that I can relate with to some point, he is socially awkward, not necessarily good at anything but still trying his best and failing a lot and heโs pretty much an underdog. He acts tough but heโs someone that cares deeply for every member of his gang and will never abandon them. Madoka wants power not for himself alone but to be able to take care of the people he cares about, which is admirable and sweet.
Least favourite character?
Madoka

Even though I like him, heโs definitely not perfect he is completely crazy. Madokaโs heart might be in the right place but he was passing his suffering on to others. Which makes all the good he wants to do void.
What did I learn?
What I learnt from Gleipnir;
Never ever jump to conclusions.
No one deserves to feel unloved, unwanted or easily replaceable.
โEvil is created when someone gives up on someone else. It appears when everyone gives up on someone as a lost cause and removes their path to salvation. Once they are cut off from everyone else, they become evil.โ – Othinus.
Everyone needs to be supported no matter how strong they look on the outside.

Would I watch more?
Overall, Gleipnir is an anime with an interesting enough premise, that throws a lot of themes at its viewers and the potential to be dark and creepy. The series tries to work with too much at once but in the end, Gleipnir really started to shine. I would definitely like to watch another season to see where the story goes from where we were left.
Gleipnir is watchable, but donโt expect to be completely swept off your feet with this first season.
When is Gleipnir Season 2 Release Date?
As of now, there is no official release date mentioned from any of the staff or studio. But, if we were to speculate, with the success of season 1 then we expect Gleipnir to be released in 2021, fall, or summer 2022.

Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! is a bishounen anime that’s a mahou shoujo parody, with general witty dialogues, self-aware humor, pretty boys, magical transformation to magical warriors and overall comfy atmosphere.
Plot Summary
Binan is a city somewhere in Japan. The Earth Defense Club at Binan High School was a club that did absolutely nothing. When club members Atsushi Kinugawa and En Yufuin were chilling out while soaking in the hot tub at the bathhouse Kurotamayu, a pink beast (Wombat) suddenly appeared out of thin air. I want to save this planet… can you please lend me your strength? The two feel the mood has been ruined by Wombat who talks to them in Japanese about how he wants to save Earth with the power of love. Just then, the son of the bathhouse owner Yumoto Hakone shows up, and as soon as he sees Wombat, he chases it, screaming Let me fluff you up! The next day, Kinugawa and Yufuin are caught by Wombat once again at school along with the other club members Io Naruko and Ryu Zaou.. Bracelets were clasped onto the wrist of these four, along with Yumoto Hakone who bumped into them chasing after Wombat, with a command that they must save the earth. It’s about love-making they hear as a bright light emanating from the bracelet envelops their entire bodies, and the five transform into Battle Lovers, the heirs of the throne of love…
I really enjoyed all the episodes of Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! From the outrageous and hilarious humor, to the self-aware characters, to the heart tugging string scenes. It is a bishounen anime that doesn’t take itself too seriously and it is better for it making it a light-hearted and memorable show.
24. Vampire Knight

Vampire Knight is a bishounen anime with a devastatingly well-written story with drama, emotional struggles and tragic pasts, great characters and an absolutely beautiful setting. Vampire Knight is not a flowery romantic comedy, but it is an anime filled with pretty anime vampire boys.
Plot Summary
Yuukiโs earliest memory is of a stormy night in winter, where she was attacked by a vampire… And then rescued by another. Now 10 years later, Cross Yuuki, the adopted daughter of the headmaster of Cross Academy, has grown up and become a guardian of the vampire race, protecting her childhood crush, Kaname, from discovery as he leads a group of vampires at the elite boarding school. But also at her side is Kiryuu Zero, a childhood friend whoโs hatred for the creatures that destroyed everything he held dear, is now determined never to trust them. This coexisting arrangement seems all well and good, but have the vampires truly renounced their murderous ways, or is there a darker truth behind their actions. Because in this world of secrets, nothing is as it seems. And the price of misplaced trust may even be worse than death.
Overall as a bishounen anime Vampire Knight is a good show for the teenage girl/fangirls in bishounen fans, the heroine doesn’t have a lot of admirable qualities but if you want to watch a show with a cute girl getting bitten by various hot anime guys, you will love this anime.
23. King From Now On!

As a bishounen anime King From Now On! or Kyou kara Maou! is rather decent, the plot development flow is very entertaining with adventure that is good and gripping, with the bonus of eye candy characters that are likeable to a comedic extent.
Plot Summary
Yuri Shibuya was living a pretty normal life. That changed the day he was dunked into a toilet after an attempt to save a classmate from a gang of bullies. Instead of just getting a good soaking, he’s pulled in. The next thing he knows, he’s in a world that vaguely resembles medieval Europe. If that’s not odd enough, he’s told that he is to be the next Maoh, just because he has black hair and black eyes. The Maoh is the King of the Mazoku, who are coexisting not-so-peacefully with the humans in this world. Much to his subject’s dismay, he’s totally different from the rulers they’re accustomed to. He’s kind, considerate, a believer in justice, and not willing to use violence to solve conflicts. Not exactly someone they want running a country on the very brink of war. Now, Yuri has to deal with trying to become a good Maoh, while at the same time attempting to adapt to this land’s customs and culture, all in a world where the tension between the humans and Mazoku is reaching its peak.
King From Now On! is a lighthearted bishounen which really created characters you will fall in love with, dark undertone elements, with a dash of shounen-ai, crossdressing boys and much more. It’s an anime that might leave you wanting more when you finish the final episode.

07-Ghost might make you on an emotional rollercoaster of laughing, crying, anger, despair, hate, joy, love and acceptance. But even though 07-Ghost might not be for everyone, it’s a bishounen anime with a slow-moving plot that may be tedious for some but if you give it a chance it will get its hooks into you.

What if nations were people? What traits would they have? What would this mean for historical events? What if every nation is a pretty boy instead? A hilariously stereotypical pretty boy. America loves burgers, Russia is into vodka, and China has pandas and a Wok.
Hetalia Axis Powers takes these questions and runs with them, personifying countries into characters. The show takes a comedic and light approach to politics and historical events while educating the viewer. Taking place primarily during the events of World War I and World War II, the story focuses on the Axis Powers and occasionally throws the spotlight onto the tumultuous relationship between the Allied Forces. The Axis Powers feature the titular character North Italy, who is clumsy, carefree and loves pasta; Germany, who is very serious but easily flustered; and Japan, who is stoic but has bizarre interests.
Hetalia Axis Powers is the perfect bishounen anime to watch if your brain just needs a break from thinking. Requiring almost no effort to watch, unlike a lot of the more twisty-turney suspense filled animes out there. It is also a good watch if you’re feeling a bit sad, and want some cheering up, offering a laugh or two.

Plot Summary
After fainting at work, a young lady awakens in the back room of the cafรฉ she works at with no memory of her life or those around her. Two of her friends, whom she soon learns are named Shin and Toma, are called to help her get home safely. Once she is alone, she meets a spectral boy named Orion that only she can see and hear. He explains that she lost her memories because of his chance visit to her world, so he vows to help her remember who she is.
Amnesia does struggle with its story but does well with its art and music. It also does a good job at giving every fangirl their love scenes with their favourite guy. Amnesia is definitely not for everyone but for an anime that was created from an otome game, it is not a failure.

The ending of Close The Last Door was really unexpected. Leaving fans of the series wanting more. It will definitely leave you laughing sometimes.

Black Butler was a beautiful and haunting ride that took me on an emotional rollercoaster and just came together beautifully and created a bishounen anime that was an enjoyable watch.
Plot Summary

Earl Phantomhive is a giant in the world of commerce, Queen Victoriaโs faithful servant and a slip of a twelve-year-old boy. And whether Sebastian is called to save a dinner party gone awry or probe the dark secrets of Londonโs underbelly, there apparently is nothing Sebastian cannot do. In fact, one might even say Sebastian is too good to be true or at least, too good to be human.
Even though Black Butler is a poster-boy bishounen anime made for fangirls, it is definitely not for everyone, the story can be tedious to follow and require your full attention not to miss anything but definitely for the bishounen fan who wants mystery and a little action in their bishounen.

The manga adaptation of the otome game. The story centers around the six sadistic Sakamaki vampire brothers and a girl, Komori Yui, who goes to live with them. Yui Komori is a positive-thinking girl who nevertheless is troubled by seeing spirits and experiencing poltergeist phenomena. In her second year in high school, she transfers to a new school โ a night school for entertainers and celebrities โ due to her fatherโs work. There are rumors that there are vampires among the student body, and Yui ends up living with the Sakamaki brothers.
Diabolik Lovers is a bishounen anime, that’s definitely not for everyone but maybe a select few but it is a bishounen anime so it’s good to have a taste of everything.

Tsuna comes home one day, only to be greeted by a little baby mafioso who apparently is his new home tutor. His job is to guide Tsuna into his role as the 10th Boss of the Vongola mafia family. With the help of all his new friends and an array of special items such as the “Dying Will Bullet”, he might just be able to do it.
Even though Reborn! Starts off slow, it quickly changes the pace after a few episodes. It would be sad to miss out on the emotional rollercoaster that is Reborn! I laughed, got sad, felt elated when they overcame an obstacle and just felt so attached to the characters at the end of the series.

Samurai Jam: Bakumatsu Rock is a bishounen anime filled with rock and roll and shirtless cute guys. It’s not great, but it’s not bad the few things that make it different really make it fun to watch.
Plot Summary
The story is set in the Bakumatsu era, at the end of the shoguns’ rule over Japan in the middle of the 19th century. The Tokugawa shogunate uses the brainwashing Heaven’s Songs by the top idols in Shinsengumi to subjugate the country and its people. In this Japan, writing or singing any songs besides the Heaven’s Songs is a capital offense. Ryลma Sakamoto and the other rockers rise up and change the world with rock ‘n’ roll for freedom and justice.

Natsume’s Book of Friends is not your typical bishounen anime, it has a lot going for it that it feels like the bishie factor was added in as an afterthought. It’s an anime that offers a beautiful experience that I think everyone should watch.
Plot Summary
Natsumeโs just an ordinary kid, except he can see spirits, just like his grandma Reiko could. Reiko, though, used to bully the spirits, and bound them to her will in the Book of Friends. Now that Natsume has inherited this book, a never-ending stream of spirits is coming after him. With the help of a spirit cat (who really just wants Natsume to die so he can have the book), Natsume spends his days dissolving the contracts that bind the spirits and trying not to get killed.
It’s a bishounen anime that offers a very relaxing, heartwarming, powerful and thought-provoking experience. The amount of emotions you’ll experience is nothing short of incredible. Natsume’s Book of Friends is a masterpiece that left me enthralled.

Plot Summary
“Kings” are individuals who have been bestowed with incredible supernatural powers and granted the ability to recruit others into their clans. Protecting the lives and honor of their clansmen is an integral part of the Kings’ duties. After a video depicting the heinous murder of a Red Clansman spreads virally, the unassuming student Yashiro Isana is accused of homicide. Plot Summary
In this screwball romantic comedy, Haruhi, a poor girl at a rich kidsโ school, is forced to repay an $80,000 debt by working for the schoolโs swankiest, all-male club–as a boy! There, she discovers just how wealthy the six members are and how different the rich are from everybody else… Not realizing sheโs female due to her appearance, they fix her up and give her a male uniform. Sheโs an instant hit, so they decide to have her keep up the charade even after they find out the truth. Haruhi, being common almost to a fault, doesnโt know what to make of the unconventional activities of the Host Club (or of the even more unconventional members), but having little choice, she plays along. Before long, real bonds are formed, friends made, and Haruhi finds herself accepted in a way she could never have been otherwise in this affluent school.
Ouran High School Host Club is the perfect balance for bishie fans looking for laughs, romance, emotional moments, or liked boys that are classified as the prince-type, loli-shota type, cool type, devil type or a natural rookie type. It is a must watch.

Plot Summary
The year is 2205. The “historical retrograde army” have begun attacks on the past in their plot to change history. The Saniwa, who have been charged with protecting history, can imbue life into objects. Strongest among these are the Token Danshi, swordsmen who had originally lived as legendary swords. The story centers around their cheerful lives.
Fair warning, some people have complained that you need to have knowledge of the source material of Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru to understand the anime. But I honestly don’t think you need to, to watch cute anime boys doing cute stuff.

Kuroko’s Basketball follows the journey of Seirin’s players as they attempt to become the best Japanese high school team by winning the Interhigh Championship. To reach their goal, they have to cross pathways with several powerful teams, some of which have one of the five players with godlike abilities, whom Kuroko and Taiga make a pact to defeat.
Kuroko’s Basketball manages to capture your interest in the game being played and relate the thrilling games to unrelated moments in our lives. It is a story about underdogs, determined characters, comedy and portrays basketball in a realistic but not too realistic way.

At the surface Uta no Prince Sama looks like another reverse-harem otome bishounen anime, but itโs actually much better than that. We have a strong female lead that doesn’t fall into the shadows of her six cute male anime characters vying for her attention, she has personality.
Plot Summary
Nanami Haruka is a shy teenage girl who has a dream to become a talented songwriter. She is accepted by Saotome Gakuen, an elite entertainment industry school developed for the sole purpose of nurturing future idols. The classes are taught by famous idols; facilities include top notch recording studios and live theaters. Most importantly, only a small portion of the most talented, natural born idol students are allowed into the prestigious Shining Agency after graduation and introduced to the nation. The school randomly pairs up a singer to a song writer but as fate would have it, Haruka ends up being paired with 3 very different boys all striving to become the next big idol; Ittoki Otoya is upbeat and lively, Shinomiya Natsuki is bright and intelligent, Hijirikawa Masato is cool and calm. Haruka, determined to make all three boys into future idols must work harder than anyone else and overcome her shy personality if she wants to reach her dream.
Uta no Prince Sama is a bishie anime that has a sexy guy for each bishounen anime fan from the cute innocent one, the serious one, the yandere one, the tsundere, the ladies man, to the Iโm-gonna-be-completely-rude-to-you-because-I-can-do-everything-on-my-own-but-Iโll-warm-up-to-you-eventually one. There are also yaoi elements in the plot, overall Uta no Prince Sama is interesting and entertaining for a bishie fan.

When she met a timid man being chased by a dog, he told her that heโd give her his house. She believed his persuasive talk, but when she went to his houseโฆ it turned out to be a shrine. Moreover, a guy with fox ears appeared, which made Nanami even more confused. What will become of homeless and confused Nanami?
Kamisama Kiss is a bishounen made for the fans of the genre that love seeing handsome anime guys but are romantics at heart. It is not a very mainstream series but it is lighthearted, sweet with a dash of supernatural occurrences and has all the eye candy a bishie fan would want.

Now, Daryoon’s new mission is to ensure the safety of the King’s only son, Prince Arislan. Daryoon and Prince Arislan set off on a quest of their own, but they can’t succeed alone. They must convince both the Lord Narsus and his companion, the archer Elam, Gieve and Falangies to join them in their quest to somehow help the soldiers win the war. Now a group of only six they must somehow overcome an enemy of 300,000 soldiers! These unlikely soldiers have fate on their side, so anything can happen!
The Heroic Legend of Arslan has a bishie anime as its flaws, but it’s still well worth the watch plus the handsome anime guys should more than make up for it, for a bishounen fan who’s interested in watching a good war anime.

Plot Summary
Haruka Nanase has a love for water and a passion for swimming. In elementary school, he competed in and won a relay race with his three friends Rin Matsuoka, Nagisa Hazuki, and Makoto Tachibana. After claiming victory at the tournament, the four friends went their separate ways. Years later, they reunite as high school students; however, Rin couldn’t care less about returning to the way things used to be. Not only does he attend a different school, but the sole thing important to him is proving that he is a better swimmer than Haruka.
After the bitter reunion, Haruka, Nagisa, and Makoto decide to form the Iwatobi High School Swim Club, but they will need a fourth member if they hope to take part in the upcoming tournament. Enter Rei Ryuugazaki, a former member of the track team whom Nagisa recruits. As the time to compete draws near, the four develop a close bond while training intensely to come out on top and settle things between Haruka and Rin once and for all.

“Only in Japan,” was my first thought when I first saw The Qwaser of Stigmata. It has a unique concept, I love that someone was brave enough to come out with something like this.

He is a Qwaser, a being that draws power from Soma and is able to manipulate a specific element. And now, in the 21st century, the mystery revolving around an Icon turns the academy into the battlegrounds for the fight between the Qwaser!
Even though it can be a bit offensive. I strangely enjoyed this series a lot! It has a bit for everyone. With an original story, action, ecchi, shounen, superpower, supernatural, a bit of comedy, and actually made me want to brush up on my chemistry lessons.

Highschool of the Dead is a very enjoyable fanservice anime, with thought-provoking episodes. It’s a show with plenty of zombies, a ragtag group, and bs.

In a matter of hours, the campus is transformed from a place of learning into a hive of nightmares, as the infected students collapse and are reborn as flesh-hungry zombies! Only a handful of students escape the initial outbreak โ among them Takashi Komuro and his childhood friend, Rei. He manages to protect Rei from the initial onslaught, but how long can Takashi and the other students hope to survive when the whole school โ maybe the whole town โ is out for their blood?!
Even if you are not into fanservice, Highschool of the Dead is an anime with plenty more to offer from action, comedy, suspense, and interesting characters that make it enjoyable on those aspects alone.

With a season 1, 2 and a still anticipated season 3 Sekirei has a basic premise that is silly and pleasantly surprising. Combining a lot of different genres together and making it work.
Summary
Minato is a total loser. Heโs failed to make it into college twice, heโs unpopular with women, and heโs unemployed. He seems like the classic-useless-shounen-harem-male-lead… In truth, however heโs actually an Ashikabi, one of a mysterious set of “masters” in an awesome battle royale between hordes of cute girls called “Sekirei.” Since this is a fanservice manga, their attacks often happen to… you guessed it-rip each othersโ clothes off! Looks like Minato luckโs taken a turn for the better.
Sekirei is entertaining, with harems, over-the-top fanservice, and a plot that doesn’t always stay on track but takes you episodes that felt like fillers, but strangely doesn’t feel tiring watching.
14. Fire Force

Fire Force fanservice has been said by some to have ruined an anime that offers one of the more original takes on shonen, with design and an amazing color pallet.

Taboo Tattoo has a fanservice anime that is great with action and supernatural elements, that constantly switches from a comedy to a serious show, which can be a bit too much but it is a decent anime that’s good enough to kill some time.

Along the way, she meets Natsu Dragneel, a teenage boy looking for his foster parent, a dragon named Igneel, with his best friend, Happy the cat. Shortly after their meeting, Lucy is abducted by Bora of Prominence, who was posing as Salamander of Fairy Tail, to be sold as a slave. Natsu rescues her and reveals that he is the real Salamander of fairy tail and has the skills of a Dragon Slayer, an ancient fire magic. He offers her membership into the guild, which she gladly accepts, they along with Erza Scarlet -Armored maiden, Gray Fullbuster -Ice Maker, and Happy become a team performing various missions offered to the Fairy Tail guild.
Fairy Tail is completely off the scale with how it handles its plot, discussing all sorts of different issues, common tropes, and general cliches. It’s a show that goes all out, and that makes it worth watching.

In Keijo!!!!!!!! butts and bs are lethal weapons, it’s an anime that is quite asstounding creative in its own right, and I couldn’t stop laughing at how silly it was. But even with all Keijo’s ridiculous fanservice, it turned out to be a surprisingly good ecchi, comedy, fanservice, and sports anime.
Summary
Kaminashi Nozomi (17) is an exceptional gymnast. So much so that colleges with some of the best gymnastic programs are trying to recruit her. Unfortunately for them, she has other plans. Due to her family being extremely poor, money is everything to her. Thatโs why she wants to step into the world of โKeijo.โ โKeijoโ is a type of gambling sport where girls stand on a small floating platform and compete against one another. The aim is to push the other contestant off of the platform into the water, but they are only allowed to use their butt or breasts to push the others off. Will Nozomi be able to compete in the intense world of โKeijo,โ become the โKeijo Queen,โ and bring wealth and fortune for her family?
Keijo!!!!!!!! is a fanservice anime that doesn’t take itself seriously at all, poking fun at more mainstream anime and just borderline overly exaggerated every scenario as much as possible to create a truly entertaining to watch.

Witchblade is a fanservice anime that’s a nice surprise for fanservice and non-fanservice lovers, with a bit for everyone. With a simple-to-follow story for story lovers, a bit of action, and sexy female characters in skimpy clothes in their transformed states. and is a perfect example of not judging a book just by its cover.
Summary
Masane Amaha and her daughter Rihoko are on the run from a government child welfare agency that wants to take Rihoko away from her mother. They are caught and Rihoko is taken away. Meanwhile, Masane is attacked by an advanced weapon that can disguise itself as a human being. When faced with the danger, a strange light emits from her wrist and she transforms into a powerful being. She destroys the weapon and consequently becomes involved in a power struggle between powerful organizations, with her at the center of their attention. Because she holds the greatest power of them all, the legendary Witchblade. – MAL
Witchblade was a very enjoyable experience, that focuses on character development that had my attention till the very end. Witchblade is a gem that definitely deserves to have more people giving it a chance.

The Testament of Sister New Devil is a fanservice anime that has been compared to Highschool DxD, with mixed reviews. with action, comedy, ecchi, harem, and fanservice that feels like borderline hentai.
Summary
โHey, you said you wanted a sister, right?โ First year highschool student, Toujo Basara, was suddenly asked by his father and fell into a state of panic. On top of that, the eccentric father told him he will be getting remarried. He then departed overseas after bringing Basara two beautiful step-sisters. But Mio and Mariaโs true forms are actually the newbie Demon Lord and a succubus!? Basara was almost entered into a master and servant contract with Mio, but a reversed contract was formed by mistake, and Basara is now the master!? Moreover, Basara is being hit by ecchi situations one after another due to the contract, but Mioโs life is being pursued by other demon tribes and hero tribes!! The most powerful contractorโs desired action drama begins!
The Testament of Sister New Devil is one of those anime that had its moments of being hilarious and entertaining but just didn’t seem to be able to balance out their plot with the fanservice moments. The fanservice was also ridiculously censored, with little or no real character development, but it definitely went above and beyond to fill its quota for a fanservice anime.
2. Kiss x Sis

Kiss x Sis is a perfectly good textbook showcasing fanservice anime done properly, you get exactly what you signed up for when you pick this anime up. Kiss x Sis doesn’t play in the kiddy pool of lewdness but takes it to the highest degree, unapologetically blurring the line between anime and hentai.
Summary
Keita has two older (not blood-related) twin step-sisters who love him in a lustful way and have no problems expressing it. They even like to compete about it; much to the laughter of his friends (which he usually endures without problems). One day they come to his school to give him his lunch, resulting in him getting angry due to the atmosphere. To counteract his anger, they confess their tender feelings for him in front of everyone and leave. Feeling sorry he chases after them and says that he’ll study hard in order to get in the same high school as them.
Considered as one of the best fanservice anime, Kiss x Sis is a series with a simple straightforward plot, with no generic harem elements, no dynamic and intriguing characters, just incredibly hot and exciting fanservice made for the fans of the genre in mind.

There is a lot to love for everyone in Monogatari Series from the in-depth character conversations, fourth-wall-breaking, sleek art, the supernatural, romance, ecchi, and don’t forget the fanservice. The Monogatari Series is a brilliant series that knows how to strike the right balance with the plot, character development, and fanservice.

Don’t you think a girl who drools when she falls asleep is cute? It sounds a bit weird and kinky. These were the first words I saw from Mysterious Girlfriend X, and what caught my attention. So I bookmarked it, till I finally decided to read it this last month.
Mysterious Girlfriend X is a romance manga that’s different from your usual boy-meets-girl troupe, with love triangles and grand public declarations of undying love. And it’s more than just drool.

Mysterious Girlfriend X is a refreshingly down to earth take on the romance genre; they get flustered by their firsts (like holding hands, sharing an indirect kiss through a drink), wonder or worry about their partner’s feelings and slowly find their pace as couples.
Dating has a teenage can be awkward, you don’t overnight know how to interact with the opposite sex, or handle relationships. You trudge through it, acting on impulses you might not be completely comfortable with, acting on the knowledge you have available from yourself and friends, etc. Mysterious Girlfriend X is all about exploring that space, with observation and sometimes legitimately strange shenanigans.

Summary
One day, a strange transfer student appears in Tsubaki’s class. Urabe Mikoto is an antisocial girl, whose hobby is just sleeping during class-breaks, carrying around scissors in her panties (which she can use to cut through anything) and on one occasion randomly bursting into laughter during class. One day, after school Tsubaki goes to wake up a napping Urabe and ends up tasting her drool… And a connection between Tsubaki and Urabe begins. A bond made on drool!
Relationships are complicated but with one made on drool, there’s no way of knowing what might happen.
What did I think?
Mysterious Girlfriend X can definitely be filed under some of the weirdest manga I have read. But I really enjoyed my time reading this manga by Riichi Ueshiba.
The exchange of magical telepathic drool from boy to girl, girl to boy and girl to girl for some reason really didn’t bother me like I have heard people complain about. Yes it’s a bit strange but I also liked how quirky it was about the whole scenario Mysterious Girlfriend X set up.
Mysterious Girlfriend X is not your typical romantic comedy. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, ecchi fest or overly serious. Riichi Ueshiba found just the right balance for Mysterious Girlfriend X that made the story and characters feel very somewhat grounded with just a dash of fantasy mystery.
Mysterious Girlfriend X rewarded me with an unusual experience for a romance manga. It was a completely mesmerizing play on the confusing, awkward way that love and sex blossom throughout the seemingly never-ending stage of adolescence and firsts.
STORY
Mysterious Girlfriend X by Riichi Ueshiba is definitely usual especially because of the drool thing but really how different is it from kissing, if anything there is less exchange of bodily fluids.
Mysterious Girlfriend X has fetish elements but also some very innocent fun that can be very tender and touching. And we get to see Tsubaki and Urabe take their relationship one step at a time with moments of anger, jealousy, and objectification. Really good, bad, and downright ugly that help them to grow together.
At its core it is a nostalgic story about falling in love and unnecessary early assumptions and epic fails so often made early on in relationships.
The manga builds off the romantic tension of the will-they-wonโt-they. And the plot works on the idea that the opposite gender is extremely mysterious and intimacy can be weird and awkward. So there is a lot of discovering of new feelings and understanding what each partner in a relationship wants one step at a time.
The mystical telepathic drool bond brings a magical element to the plot, helping share thoughts and emotions that helps our characters understand each other better.
Mysterious Girlfriend X story had a lot going for it that makes it a worthwhile read. But what I loved most about the whole story was reading about these two characters so intent on loving each other that they both work through all the problems to be content with one another.

Mysterious Girlfriend X art style to me is kind of reminiscent of the 80โs or 90โs. The backgrounds are beautifully detailed and with the retro character design style (small black pupils, simple hair and a stocky, cartoon-like build).
And those parts where Tsubaki would have dreams were just so imaginative, I wish we had gotten more of that and got to see a lot more of the wacky dream world.
CHARACTER
I loved all the characters. They were unique and felt like real people, and weren’t just there to feel up space but they all served a purpose to the story. Some would appear temporary while others would stay throughout the story.
The character development between Tsubaki and Urabe was done beautifully where it was done in a realistic two-sided way.
All the characters were adorable and helped even make the magical and superhuman elements of the story feel acceptable.
Favourite moment?
My favourite moments from Mysterious Girlfriend X would have to be the ones with Tsubaki and Urabe. I love how Tsubaki can be so clueless sometimes or how Urabe acts so expressionless on the outside but she can actually be very sensitive.
We get to see she’s just a human being too, with her own wants, needs and her own insecurities.
The way she can always tell something is bothering him or how she can get him all flustered is really cute. And the way she can get all flustered herself is just so adorable.
Plus those moments when Urabe is so happy she smiles or literally gushes out drool is weird but adorable. Or when Tsubaki realizes what he did wrong and apologizes is great.
It was really nice and touching watching them grow as a couple, I was always in the Urabe and Tsubaki camp supporting them and hoping they stay together.
Hehe…
Least favourite moment?
Mysterious Girlfriend X chapter 28 to 34 and 58 to 59. Those chapters was a bit sad cause I felt sorry for Urabe and Tsubaki was being stupid. But those chapters really made them grow closer and makes me smile like a dirty old man.
Favourite character?
Ayuko Oka
Oka is Ueno’s (Tsubaki best friend) girlfriend and first friend of the unsocial and very reserved Urabe.
She’s a short, smart A student, good cook and as the mind of a dirty old man. She’s just so funny, devious and with her intelligence, she sometimes helps Urabe and Tsubaki develop and deepen their relationship.
Least favourite character?
Aika Hayakawa
Aika Hayakawa was Tsubaki’s classmate throughout junior high school, and also his first crush.
I don’t hate her but she’s not my favorite, she tries to steal Urabe’s Tsubaki. Hayakawa’s very relatable once we get to understand her. But she is still the enemy of the Tsubaki and Urabe camp. Plus her plan was so obvious I don’t know how Tsubaki couldn’t see through it. It was so annoying!
What I learnt?
Couples should always find their own pace in a relationship, confronting their feelings and dealing with them.
Never get too comfortable around your significant other that you still don’t appreciate the little things now and then.
And never ever make your partner cry. You have failed if you hurt them. This person picked you from the millions of other people on our planet.
Would you read more?
Yes Yes Yes Yes! I am glad I finally sat down and read Mysterious Girlfriend X (Nazo no Kanojo X) I found myself not being able to put it down, it was a wonderful manga.
I would recommend it for everyone who wants to read something funny and optimistic. It had a nice conclusion but I want more, I really fell in love with the characters especially Tsubaki and Urabe.
I would have like to be immersed more in the story of Tsubaki and Urabe, and maybe see them has adults with their kids. Their story was so grounded and realistic, it blew me away.

No Game, No Life Is Tet a boy or girl? After 12 anime episodes, 1 film, 2 volumes of Manga and 10 volumes of NGNL light novel this question came up.
I might have gotten a little carried away…
Watching the movie made it really hard not to like Tet’s character even more than I already did before.
Tet’s character is a character created from love, sadness, hopefulness, strength, and so much more.
Starting off as Riku’s imaginary friend, without form, Tet saw wars and suffering through Riku, and was finally given form through Riku’s wish, Schwi and the enormous surrounding magic energy making Tet the God of Games, the “ultimate gamer” that Riku fantasized.
Tet not only inheriting Riku’s wish to end the war but also implemented ten commandments that although modified, is still based strongly on Riku’s original six commandments for survival.
Tet to me is like the child that carries on Riku and Schwi’s legacy and hopes for the future.
But I just recently noticed while looking at gender character categories that our bright, playful, benevolent and peace-loving Tet. According to consensus and assumptions;
Tet is a boy.
Am I the only one who thought Tet was a girl?
I find it hard to believe that Tet’s a boy. I mean to me Tet’s just a tomboy, a reverse trap (a girl that looks like a boy).
Before I put up any reasons why I think Tet’s a girl, I think it should be noted that:

Tet is an Old Deus
What are Old Deus?
Old Deus are a first ranked race of the Exceed. They are made and exist from concepts such as sentiments, desires and belief in their existence. Like how Tet comes about being from Riku Dola’s imagination or Artosh’s from people’s desire for war.
My point is Old Deus can shapeshift and take the form of other races, their true form exists in the form of Ether.
Tet’s ether form is the Suniastor.
Old Deus can take any form they please, so doesn’t that mean Tet can also be seen as a girl then. To them, gender will be like trying on shoes.
“Boku” is used to for Tet
Yes, “boku” is usually used for referring to males but girls can also refer to themselves using “boku.”
And they’re usually tomboys, so… Victory sign
Inconclusive by the Author
Drawing from my first point earlier the author still hasn’t made it know what gender Tet is and has simply left it to the imagination of others.
In Japanese, it possible to refer to someone with a neutral pronoun without giving it’s gender away.
A case of this would be Crona from Soul Eater gender was never revealed in the original manga (They only had to give Crona a gender so has not to have to refer to him has “It“)
Tet is a god
Being the One True God of Disboard, can we really classify someone with god status under a specific gender when he can change his gender to anyone, he chooses. Tet and the other Old Deus are concepts after all and concepts change, so their gender should also be looked at this way after all.

You always see lists of all the best anime of all time but it’s rare to see them for the WORST anime of all time. So I decided to bug my roommates and ask around to see what people thought the worst anime of all time would be.
FLCL aka Fooly Cooly
FLCL has been labeled as a masterpiece and something pleasantly different. If an anime show has this much praise, the I’m expecting something enjoyable and funny.
Sadly, FLCL did not offer anything but pain.
There is absolutely no story behind this anime. It is just six episodes of disjointed scripts that attempt to fuse together as many genres as possible then injected with pointless crude humor.
Many would argue that this show is nothing but a random and nonsensical arrangement of spontaneous events. It’s full of pointless and meaningless slapstick humor that cheapens the show, makes it impossible to take seriously as an anime and gives it a “loony toons” vibe of immaturity.
Aho Girl
Overall, if you are looking for a short anime with endless comedy gags with no clear story or plot but just laughter, then this anime is for you. It’s slightly lewd, but over the top comedy.
However, Aho Girl is also painful to watch. While doing a comedy list, I came across this anime. I made it about five minutes before I caved. Seriously, this anime made me want to bang my head against a wall and scream. More so than Diabolic Lovers ever did.
First and foremost, this show is simply not funny. Aho Girl makes a spectacle of itself – presenting faux-meaningful observations; idolizing its vapid female lead; overindulging in panty shots; while accomplishing absolutely nothing in the end.
The testament of Sister New Devil or Shinmai Maou no Testament
In my opinion this show is just bad.
First of all half, the show is unwatchable. Half of the show is white bars of light covering the screen during the more sexual oriented scenes. I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t like staring at anything for almost 3 to 5 minutes at a time, with an occasional face or backside appearing in a shot.
Second, the story is just so messy and all over the place. Most of the story makes little to no sense, due to plot holes. You may argue that it isn’t about the story, but the point is the story tries to bring in characters and world building it didn’t even need.
Overall, feel free to disagree, but there is so much holding this series back. There are some interesting ideas sprinkled here and there, but not a single one of them were represented properly here. This is simply a mediocre show, just not worth anyone’s time, not even the most hardcore of ecchi anime fans.
HAKYUU HOUSHIN ENGI
I love the Houshin Engi manga, so when I saw it was going to receive another anime, I was hopeful this one would cover the whole story and do a decent job on its adaptation. Sadly, I was wrong. The first episode already shows big differences between the two. The story is badly told. You can’t understand much if you don’t know it already.
I still recommend the manga, but this anime shouldn’t exist.
Most viewers will not like this anime for two simple reasons: It’s not very good and most of all, not very enjoyable either. It walks the path of mediocrity without even trying to be anything. The outcome is very bland and a total lackluster.
This adaptation did surprisingly many questionable choices. First and foremost is the lack of introduction. Viewers are quite directly thrown into a random world around random characters. Nothing is explained, things just somewhat are there and stuff happens because it does.
THE MASTER OF RAGNAROK & BLESSER OF EINHERJAR or Hyakuren no Haou to Seiyaku no Valkyria
Even when stacked up against Isekai abominations like Death March and Isekai wa Smartphone, it still somehow manages to be even worse! In fact, this might just be the worst Isekai anime that Iโve seen to date, and considering the generally poor quality of the genre, thatโs really saying something. So yes, this anime is definitely incredible!
Incredibly bad.
This anime doesnโt even bother to start with the protagonist getting inexplicably transported to a fantasy world. When weโre introduced to him, heโs already been in another world for two years, so itโs almost like this isnโt even an Isekai anime. Anyway, our protagonist, named Super Ultra Omnipotent Usurper, or Suou for short, is a perfect being in every way! Heโs the most morally just and relatable character ever, is a military genius, and, most importantly, gets all the women! Actually, only the latter is true, but the anime still desperately tries to give him character traits that make him more than just a chick magnet.
Too bad they fail miserably.
Suou is a conqueror, plain and simple. Not of nations, but of women. Yet what makes him stand out from his fellow Kirito clones? Well, Suou is unique in that when he claims a girl as his property, he makes her a part of his โfamily.โ That’s right, this guy forces his women to become his little sisters and daughters. Then makes them address him as โpapaโ and โbig brother.โ He also doesnโt seem to give a crap about his soldiers and doesnโt bat an eye when theyโre slaughtered in combat. And the best part is that the writers still try to portray him as an โI am holier than thouโ type of character.
Thanks to the solar-powered smartphone that Suou just so happens to have, our hero is able to look up military tactics of great historical leaders like Alexander the Great and Sun Tzu and implement them in battles. Of course, you really canโt tell what battle strategies are being used during fight scenes due to the hideous visuals that make everything look like an utter mess.
A random red haired dude in this anime wisely said โthe details donโt matter.โ I think the writers must have taken that sentence to heart. Nothing about this anime makes any sense. The plot goes nowhere, and the characters are painfully bland and annoying.
Goblin Slayer
โAnyone who likes/dislikes this show is a Nazi/Libtard.โ โ The state of the anime community after episode 1.
I think it’s fair to say that no other anime has caused such controversy and overwhelming divide amongst anime fans after a single episode like Goblin Slayer has. A scene lasting around fifteen seconds featuring a character being raped receiving more condemnation than every other anime airing this year.
So, feel free to watch Goblin Slayer if you enjoy dark-fantasy and have a tolerance for uncomfortable content. Or skip it, because truth told, Goblin Slayer was never really worth caring that much about in the first place.
Hanoka
Hanoka was the very first full fledged anime series to be animated completely in Flash. This is a terrible mistake. The flash makes the animation look unnatural, especially when viewing the characters. The faces and heads do not look right at all, and the faces show no expression on them what so ever. I do applaud the makers for trying flash, but it appears that the technology has come nowhere close to make it worthwhile.
I’m not really sure what I expected from this show initially. I’m all for new techniques used in any kind of context, and given that this Anime series had been animated entirely in Flash format, I thought of it as perhaps something exciting.
Throughout the show, we see the usual, predictable scenes such as “I’ll fight to protect you”, “he gave me a reason to live”, and “aagh you fatally injured him and now my powers increased tenfold because of my emotional distress”. The originality of the show is close to zero. No, if it’s a proper story you’re looking for, then this isn’t it.
Also the ending has got to be the worst ending I have ever seen to an anime series. Terrible does not even begin to describe Hanoka.
Ghost Stories Gakkou no Kaidan
The thing about this anime is that it is actually REALLY really bad. It bombed in Japan and it is easy to see why.
However……
Aniplex was handed the English dub of the show, knowing it was a failure in Japan and it SEEMS they didn’t take the dub too seriously. So what do we get? The best dub that has ever been done ever. Let me try to explain; the voice actors decided to add really adult jokes, often breaking the fourth wall and mocking the show itself. It’s like a fandub with comedians or an Abridged series, but full episodes.
To me, there was a certain formula for watching this show. It’s definitely not a series someone should marathon. Nope, it should be enjoyed an episode or two at a time. Any more and you’ll find yourself sick of the studpidity. Ghost stories is so bad it’s good. The show gets most of its fame from being so awful and the dub so hilarious.
My advice to you is to watch the Dub. Bear in mind, the adult humor may be offputting to younger audiences. Or if you get offended easily, then please do NOT watch this. Ghost Stories English dub tries to be offensive to everyone and it succeeds.

Needing a new anime show to watch, I scrolled through Crunchyroll to find How Not to Summon a Demon Lord and decided to give this new isekai (another world) game a try. This review is based on the first 4 episodes and minor spoilers are ahead.
What’s it About?
How Not to Summon a Demon Lord is based on a fantasy light novel by Yukiya Murasaki and is a love comedy.
Takuma Sakamoto is a shut-in who is obsessed with the MMORPG โCross Reverieโ so obsessed in fact that heโs the most powerful character in the game, bequeathed the title of Demon Lord Diablo and something of a โfinal bossโ for other players who dare take up arms against him! But one day he wakes up in the fantasy world he loves so much, except heโs not himself in this world but rather has all the physical and power-based attributes of his online avatar, Diablo!
Shera and Rem attempt to summon a Demon Lord to aid them and instead summon Diablo. Diablo is indeed a powerful demon Lord however, he is also a video game character played by Takuma who is trapped in Diabloโs body. Their summoning spell backfires due to Diabloโs powerful accessory that reflects all magic so Shera and Rem become enslaved to him. Diablo is nervous and confused about all of this, but determined to continue on and refuses to be seen as anything less than a Demon Lord.
Not only does Takuma suffer from anxiety and social issues but he is stuck in the game with two female servants that did want to be his servants. So now he must work together with the ladies to help each other out and survive the game.
ย Ordinarily, when it comes to these Isekai shows Iโd say something like โdonโt be ridiculous they donโt explain the how of these things, it just โhappensโ!โ But here it seems he was โsummonedโ here by busty elf Shera L Greenwood and pantherian (cat girl) Rem Galleu. What they were expecting to summon was an obedient slave, but because of one of Takumaโsโor rather Diabloโsโmagical items all spells are countered and returned to the caster, meaning these two girls areย hisย slaves!
Are there any issues with the show?
So far, I’ve noticed just a few things with the show itself. Specifically with Takuma’s alternating personality, which I’m supposing is supposed to be funny but it comes across flat.
But once heโs in the game, Takuma’s dedication to online gaming makes him ultra-powerful, able to suss out female charactersโ problems because they follow a predictable gaming script and safe from having to actually converse with people because whenever he talks it automatically comes out in the โcool, tough demon king voice.โ
Maybe I’m just vain, but I’m okay with that. Diablo is pretty hot, so now I have a new husbando!
Annoying Fan Service
I’m all for fanservice when it’s done right.
He didnโt enslave them onย purpose, it was an accident! But ya know, now that theyย areย enslaved heโs happy to stare at their chests and take advantage of them.
He didnโt want to assault Rem, thatโs why he touched her ears! He was thinking of his cat! And very coincidentally the camera frames Renโs reactions just like a sex scene, including her repeatedly begging him to stop before the moaning starts. And gosh, sheโs just so grateful to him afterward; really, itโs for the best that he assaulted her.
If Takuma/Diablo had been in any way a jerk to these girls or mistreated them Iโd have been against him from the get-go, but not only is he understanding of these girls he goes as far as to pledge his allegiance to Rem to help her out of her difficult situation.
Shera also has a bouncy enormous chest that precedes her in just about every establishing shot. This just annoys me to no end. When every other scene focuses on this, it takes away from the plot and makes it no longer funny. Once or twice is okay but you want your show to have SOME depth to it
Minor Characters
*Minor spoilers ahead*
Episode 4 of How not to summon a demon lord,ย ended as Rem and Celeste are confronted by a Fallen. Their efforts to survive only leave them with an option of running away and they are eventually corneredโฆuntil Emile, the self-proclaimed protector of women appears. Elsewhere, Diablo faces off against an opponent that actually manages to deal some damage since his arrival within the game world.
This episode actually reeled me in. The Fallen demonโs strength combined with his lack of hesitation of killing anyone in sight and Diabloโs range of power to slay whatever opponent he meets regardless of the number of foes had me on edge. However, the best parts of Episode 3 belong to the lesser characters Emile and Edelgard.
Emile was a hilarious addition to last weekโs episode with his antics, however, this week he takes a whole new light. Even though he is clearly much weaker than his opponent, he stays around to withstand all of the magical abuse he can until Diablo shows up.
Emile reminds me of Tamaki Suoh in a way with his actions. Heโs a keeper for sure. Iโm lowkey shipping him with Rem at the moment.
Edelgard is very similar to Emile this week as she taps into her own powers to attack Diablo, however, Edelgard is clearly much stronger than Emile. If this show gets popular enough to warrant a spin-off, Edelgard should be first in line for a show of her own. I deeply desire to know where she comes from and how she developed the strength she possesses.
Sure, she doesnโt do much to Diablo, (he suffers from anime male protagonist syndrome), but her strength should definitely be showcased more in the series. Unfortunately, though, I fear she could potentially end up a part of his harem. She is in the picture for the previews as part of it, soโฆyeah.
Final Thoughts
Although this week does take a nose dive into unnecessary, (but this time kind of amusing), fanservice this week, How Not To Summon A Demon Lord certainly will please fans, and its guilty pleasure viewers this week.
