The story follows Eren Yeager and his friends, who live in a world surrounded by gigantic humanoid creatures called Titans. These Titans threaten humanity’s existence, leading to a desperate fight for survival. 2. Made in Abyss
Anyone who has seen Made in Abyss without reading manga or spoilers must have been shocked. The anime features cute, almost chibi characters, yet the themes it explores are dark and mature. So let’s look at our golden standard here for the best Studio Ghibli movies, ranked from the not-so-good, the best, and everything in between. Please note none of these movies are terrible, but we are just going to be very nitpicky.
When a mischievous orphan, Earwig is adopted. She discovers her new home is full of invisible rooms, potions, and spell books, with magic around every corner. Most children would be terrified, but not Earwig. Using her cleverness—with a lot of help from a talking cat—she shows her new magical family who’s boss.
This movie received a lot of backlash for the CGI animation and plot, but it was a fun movie, maybe not as good as the other Ghibli films on our list, but it was entertaining. Though the movie went by fast. Maybe too fast, especially towards the end, which was rather unsatisfying. It’s a very laid-back movie with minor drama, so don’t expect the thrill other Ghibli movies have.
22. Tales from Earthsea

When the balance of the world decays, an archmage and a fugitive prince journey to find the source of evil. It goes beyond the classical battle between the forces of good and evil and explores the inner battles of the heart.
Set in a magical world, with a more serious tone instead of the usual playfulness and humor that Studio Ghibli is known for, the story tries to do everything and nothing at the same time looking at how we treat each other, saving the earth, and the adventures of the characters which don’t always have much direction with the plot of saving the world that is on the verge of destruction.
21. Pom Poko
Title: Heisei Tanuki Gassen Ponpoko

The Tanuki, according to Japanese folklore, are playful raccoons that have the power to shape-shift. The film focuses on a forest of Tanuki who have long since abandoned their shape-shifting ways. But when urban development threatens their forest home. The Tanukis’ begins re-learning shape-shifting, as taught by their forest’s elders, to prepare for the imminent showdown between man and them.
This film is the wild card of Studio Ghibli and a uniquely Japanese breath of fresh air for animation and storytelling and while I can never look at raccoons the same way again, the film’s environmental severe concerns shine in a largely comedy-filled film.
20. My Neighbors the Yamadas

The Yamadas, is an intimate and fun look into the lives of a typical Japanese family, coping with the day-to-day situations that life throws at them while smiling and laughing through their otherwise dull and mundane lives.
Like any Studio Ghibli film, it is refreshing, warm and the perfect movie to watch with the whole family. This show has the potential of bringing families together with its relatability about family, being a spouse, being a parent, being a child, grandchild, and being a daughter or son-in-law.
19. The Ocean Waves
Title: Umi ga Kikoeru
Aired: May 5, 1993
Theme(s): Drama, Romance, School, Slice of Life
Going to his high school reunion, Taku Morisaki recounts his memories of his school days, focusing in particular on a love triangle that developed between him and two of his friends. Coming to terms with his feelings and understanding of how a girl with a troubled past has had such a massive effect on his life.
The Ocean Waves is a more grounded, realistic telling of a romance between three people without all the supernatural elements you are used to seeing in a Studio Ghibli film. The story is just so charming. Watching relatable characters with all their issues slowly learning to understand themselves and those around them made me smile and wish for their happiness.
18. The Cat Returns
Title: Neko no Ongaeshi

When shy, Haru Yoshioka saves Prince Lune of the Cat Kingdom from being run over by a truck. She is whisked away to the Cat Kingdom to become Lune’s wife. Prevented from leaving, she will need the help of the cat bureau to get out of her union or become a cat.
The Cat Returns is a side story of the Studio Ghibli film Whisper of the Heart. The film is a comical and sweet tale about a shy girl who is carried off into another land, with touching morals about being oneself. Though let down by some missed opportunities, it remains Studio Ghibli’s funniest film and one with plenty of rewatch value.
17. When Marnie Was There
Title: Omoide no Marnie

Anna Sasaki is sent to the countryside for health reasons, where she makes an unlikely friend in Marnie, a young girl with flowing blonde hair. As their friendship unravels, these two young girls’ journey of self-discovery and friendships will be a summer that both will remember forever.
This film is an absolutely beautiful movie thanks to its art quality, storytelling, and character development. Though It’s cute, heart-warming, and has a nice warm and fuzzy feel to it, some plot holes and pacing left some questions. It’s a relaxing film that by the climax has you sympathizing with its characters and wishing for their happiness.
16. The Secret World of Arrietty
Title: Karigurashi no Arrietty

The Clock family are tiny people living under the house, another family’s residence borrowing from humans to survive. All is well until humans discover their daughter, Arrietty, and must flee.
One of the charming aspects of the movie is, without a doubt, the amount of attention paid to the little details that make the little people so believable. Though the plot is lacking and leaves a deep feeling for me, of wanting more, I would have loved to have followed the family to where a new adventure may await.
Umi Matsuzaki, a 16-year-old girl, provides for her siblings and grandmother, while her mother is away. The monotony of her life changes though after she meets Shun, and together with other students, they try to save their beloved school’s clubhouse. The two discover they may have a lot more in common than either of them think.
Unlike other Studio Ghibli films, From Up on Poppy Hill romanticizes living in this simple world in an oh-so-beautiful way. Making you see the beauty of the world in the typical mundane aspects. Though it would have been nice to have some dragons and other magical creatures. It’s not a bad movie, not by a long shot.
14. Whisper of the Heart
Title: Mimi wo Sumaseba

Shizuku Tsukishima is an energetic 14-year-old girl who enjoys reading and writing poetry in her free time. She becomes determined to work toward a goal after meeting Seiji, a boy who wants to become a master luthier. The two fall in love and work simultaneously towards achieving their independent goals. Guided by the whispers of their hearts.
Though the plot doesn’t go anywhere, so to speak, the strength of the movie is in its characters depicting a very detailed picture of them at different points which can be heartwarming, and heartbreaking, but at all times true to their personalities. Characters’ feelings are easily relatable, understood, and maybe slightly chuckled at by the reminisce of it all.
13. Castle in the Sky
Title: Tenkuu no Shiro Laputa

Theme(s): Adventure, Fantasy, Romance, Sci-Fi
In a world filled with planes and airships, young orphans Sheeta and Pazu who have a mysterious crystal amulet, join forces to discover the mystical floating city of Laputa while pursued by the military and pirates, who want the city’s treasures, for their greedy purposes.
It’s a pretty straightforward story that has enough action, beautiful visuals, and mystery to keep almost anyone engaged. Though maybe because of its simplicity, it doesn’t tackle the same mature themes that other films from the studio usually tackle. It’s still a great movie with a heart-pounding adventure story about friendship, loyalty, greed, and people’s connection to nature.
12. Ponyo
Title: Gake no Ue no Ponyo

When Sosuke rescues a goldfish trapped in a bottle. The goldfish turns out to be the daughter of a wizard and goddess, using magic to turn herself into a young girl so that she can be with him. But to let her live on as a human and restore balance to the world, Sousuke must pass an ancient test.
An amazing movie, in terms of visuals, cast, story, and music, with spectacular ocean scenes but the series seems more geared towards children with no main source of villainy, drama, doom, or serious subjects being explored. But you know it’s a good movie when you leave it smiling.
11. Only Yesterday
Title: Omoide Poroporo
Aired: Jul 20, 1991
Theme(s): Drama, Romance, Slice of Life
Independent career woman Taeko Okajima takes a break from the hustle and bustle of the city to visit her family during the annual safflower harvest. On the train, she recalls days from her childhood. And as her vacation progresses, Taeko comes to terms with her childhood dreams and the person she is today.
If the film has any weaknesses, it would be pacing, but apart from that, it is a perfect example of why I keep coming to anime. The movie deals with relatable complex themes we all wonder about as we grow older. It’s a mature and underrated anime film that never fails to draw a smile on my face the whole two hours, thanks to its inspiring and relatable story.
10. Kiki’s Delivery Service
Title: Majo no Takkyuubin
Aired: Jul 29, 1989
Theme(s): Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy
13-year-old Kiki moves to a seaside town with her talking cat, Jiji, to spend a year alone, under her village’s tradition for witches in training. She sets up a flying courier service and soon becomes a fixture in the community. But when the insecure young witch questions herself and loses her magic abilities, she must overcome her self-doubt to get her powers back.
The plot is very slice-of-life, our number ten spot on this list. The series is a relaxing watch, and its real magic is in giving its viewers the chance to reflect on the smallest moments in daily life and realize that those can be the most enchanting of all, shaping our thoughts and emotions.
9. Grave of the Fireflies
Title: Hotaru no Haka

In the final days of World War II, 14-year-old Seita and his four-year-old sister Setsuko are orphaned after their mother is killed during an air raid by American forces in Kobe, Japan. After having a falling-out with their aunt, they move into an abandoned bomb shelter. With no surviving relatives and their emergency funds and rations depleted, Seita and Setsuko must struggle to survive their hardships as well as those of their country, which is on the losing end of the war.
Grave of the Fireflies gives you a lot to think about. It’s a film that is very antiwar depicting the struggles and perseverance of the human spirit in the nightmare that is war. Grave of the Fireflies is beautiful, yet at times brutal and horrifying.
In Italy in the 1930s, sky pirates in biplanes terrorize wealthy cruise ships as they sail the Adriatic Sea. The only pilot brave enough to stop the scourge is the mysterious Porco Rosso, a former World War I flying ace who has been cursed to have a pig’s head. As he prepares to battle the pirate crew’s American ace, Porco Rosso enlists the help of spunky girl mechanic Fio Piccolo and his longtime friend Madame Gina.
Porco Rosso is a comedy-drama with sprinkles of romance and slice-of-life. The movie plays with different themes during its runtime and though a great film, its styles, and themes seemed more geared to be accommodating regular moviegoers than just only for anime fans. But these negatives do not make it any less enjoyable, it makes it more easily accessible for people not familiar with Japanese culture.
7. My Neighbor Totoro

When a family moves into an old vacant house in a rural area. Satsuki, the older, responsible girl who takes care of household responsibilities while her mother is sick, and little Mei, a veritable firecracker whose curiosity knows no limits get to go on magical adventures in nature and meet fantastical creatures of the woods.
It’s a heartwarming and whimsical series that every viewer who has watched it loves. The series has no action, is slow-paced, and isn’t full of drama being a movie made to accommodate kids. It has a very detailed world design and a lovable cast of characters.
6. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
Title: Kaze no Tani no Nausicaä
Aired: Mar 11, 1984
Theme(s): Adventure, Fantasy
Far in the future, after an apocalyptic conflict has devastated much of the world’s ecosystem, the few surviving humans live in scattered human settlements. Nausicaä is the princess of the Valley of Wind, one of the few untouched human settlements known for its peaceful inhabitants. However, when an airship from the kingdom of Tolmekia crashes in the Valley with its cargo. Nausicaä will have to work even harder to bring peace back to the ravaged planet.
The film has a great storyline with elements of fantasy, action, and imaginative creatures. Its runtime focuses a lot on its character’s growth and shows us more of its world, while also discussing some serious themes. Though if there are any negatives, it’s how convoluted the motives of each different kingdom or nation are.
5. The Tale of the Princess Kaguya
Title: Kaguya-hime no Monogatari

A farmer and his wife find an extremely small girl named Kaguya, inside a bamboo shoot who magically grows up to become a beautiful lady. When the girl is courted by five men who have to face impossible tasks to win her hand. Kaguya’s origins and purpose slowly come to light.
Studio Ghibli’s film is a faithful adaptation of the legendary piece of Japanese literature, “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter.” Though a touching coming-of-age story with delightful watercolor-like visuals and themes about life’s duality, materialism, and enlightenment, there were some characters I found redundant.
4. The Wind Rises
Title: Kaze Tachinu
Aired: Jul 20, 2013
Theme(s): Drama, Romance, Historical
Unable to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot due to his nearsightedness, Jiro strives hard and draws inspiration from Giovanni Caproni, an Italian aircraft pioneer. But soon he realizes both the role of his creations in the war and the harsh realities of his personal life. Making him a question: At what cost does he chase his beautiful dream?
Though a controversial film, it may just be Miyazaki’s ultimate film, an accumulation of his life’s work pieced together into a masterpiece. Rather than read too much into the premise, enjoy the story for what it is: the life and love of a man who simply loved aircraft.
3. Princess Mononoke
Title: Mononoke Hime

Ashitaka is cursed during an animal attack and seeks a cure from the deer-like god Shishigami. In his travels, he sees humans ravaging the earth, crumbling the harmony that humans, animals, and gods have enjoyed. Bring the wrath of wolf god Moro and his human companion Princess Mononoke. He attempts to bring back peace while battling the curse inside of him.
The story of Princess Mononoke is highly thematic, exploring humankind and the negative consequences of deforestation. It depicts the connection between technology and nature while showing the path to harmony that could be achieved by mutual acceptance. Though an amazing film it can be pointed out characters’ motives are not all explained living room to unresolved questions.
2. Howl’s Moving Castle

The story is about a girl named Sophie who gets turned into an old woman. In her attempt to return to normal, she ends up living with a wizard named Howl and a group of eccentric companions in his moving castle.
Howl’s Moving Castle is a great steampunk fairy-tale. It is a film that leaves the viewers in awe at the magical world that unfolds in front of us, filled with splendid surroundings, fantastic devices, and creatures. The world introduced here is amazing but that does not explain some plot holes and sudden changes in characters’ behavior.

The story follows ten-year-old Chihiro’s journey through an unfamiliar world inhabited by supernatural beings. Meeting along the way a unique cast of characters that help her learn to live and work amongst spirits as she strives to save her parents and return home.
The spirit realm Studio Ghibli created feels like watching a dream with its colorful visuals and inhabitants that are cute to strange and weird. There is a lot to see in this beautifully animated world even if the cuisine is a No-No. The plot is paper-thin and characterization is weak, this is not a bad movie, not by a long shot.

Similarities between Children of the Whales and Dune? Well, both protagonists have powers and live peacefully in the beginning till a different world setting turns everything on its head. In Japan a thousand years from the present, there is a utopia where a portion of the population has a special power called psychokinesis. From the beginning, we follow a group of five children as they grow up in this new world and see how they develop within a community bounded by strict rules and deal with the decisions they make that alter the course of their lives and the entire society they live in.

Similar to Dune, From the New World is a coming-of-age story about changes and growing up, truths and lies. Both series have a supernatural feel to them, with both having a feeling of a hidden deep story that is unraveled as you go. Both plots also involve traveling to new environments and learning new things about the world.

Vash the Stampede is a legendary gunslinger with a large bounty on his head partly due to the way he leaves a path of destruction in his wake wherever he travels. Because of this rampant devastation, the Bernardelli Insurance Society tasks Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson to find Vash to evaluate insurance claims and attempt to minimize the damage. The story follows these characters across a desert wasteland as it quickly becomes apparent that Vash is more than a simple outlaw.

At number four is Trigun, a series similar to Dune, with both protagonists losing loved ones to their enemy, and wandering a dystopian wasteland and desert. Are You Lost? doesn’t take itself too seriously, it is a little more light-hearted, funny, fan service fueled and filled with cute girl anime. while with some of the same themes as Dr. Stone, Are You Lost? maybe a good choice.

Summary
One night in 2006, when they were young, the two brothers Mutta (born 1993) and Hibito (born 1996) saw what appeared to be a UFO heading for the moon. They decided that night to both become astronauts and travel out into space. In 2025, Hibito has become an astronaut, and he’s going to go to the moon. Mutta ended up following a more traditional career path with an auto development company. However, Mutta just ruined his career through a violent altercation with his boss. Now, not only has he lost his job, he appears to be blacklisted in the entire industry. Maybe this is a rare opportunity for Mutta to once again chase his childhood dream and become an astronaut like his little brother!

Space Brothers is a well-constructed anime that mixes a heartwarming story with delightful comedy and relatable characters to show the audience just how difficult it is to become an astronaut.
12. Moyashimon

Moyashimon like Dr. Stone is very educational and entertaining. It may not be survival based like Dr. Stone but most of the skills learnt in it, will be needed by Senku and Taiju if they are going to survive and kick start civilisation.
Summary
Meet Sawaki Tadayasu, second son of yeast preparation suppliers, who is forced to go to an agricultural university and continue the family business. He has the unique ability to see and communicate with microbes, and so he and his friend, Kei, are taken as students to the fermentation-process obsessed Itsuki-sensei. This anime follows Sawaki as he tries to make his way through university as discreetly as possible…which is pretty impossible if you’re as talented as he is.
Every now and again an anime comes along that is quirky, odd, and oftentimes underrated, Moyashimon is just such an anime.
11. Steins;Gate

Steins;Gate like Dr.Stone is a science fiction anime that anyone who loves this genre should be sure to give it a try.
Summary
The story of Steins;Gate takes place in Akihabara and is about a group of friends who have managed to customize their microwave into a device that can send text messages to the past. As they perform different experiments, an organization named SERN who has been doing their own research on time travel tracks them down and now the characters have to find a way to avoid being captured by them.
Steins;Gate was one of those animes that made me laugh, cry and really connect with our characters. It also made me think, and it rewarded my thoughts by having closure and clarity.
10. 7 Seeds

After watching Dr. Stone you are probably now into series that depict people trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic future. Well, 7 Seeds is a much more realistic take on this narrative, with ordinary people trying to come to terms with the idea of everyone they knew and loved being dead while trying to survive in the wilderness.
Summary
Scientists had predicted this disaster, and in response, the leaders of every country met to develop a plan for human survival before the meteor hit. The Seven Seeds project was developed out of this meeting. Each country froze a number of young healthy people, which allowed them to survive the meteor. After the computer determined that Earth was once again safe for human life, it released them into the world. The Japanese government created five groups of survivors: Winter group, Spring group, Summer group A, Summer group B, and Fall group. Each group consisted of seven members and one guide. The guide carried small tubes of poison on their necks to allow them to end their lives if their situation became unbearable. The Japanese government prepared seven “Fuji” as refuges for the groups. In each Fuji, the group would find seeds and numerous books instructing them on survival in the wilderness.
Much like Dr. Stone, 7 Seeds is all about learning to prevail in the wilderness without the benefits of modern technology. And it’s definitely can be seen has a more realistic, less comedic take of Dr. Stone’s end-of-humanity plot.
9. The Promised Neverland (Yakusoku no Neverland)

The Promised Neverland like Dr. Stone is a survival anime though not completely the same, but with its psychological thriller element it keeps us at the edge of our seats.
Summary
Emma, Norman and Ray are the brightest kids at the Grace Field House orphanage. And under the care of the woman they refer to as “Mom,” all the kids have enjoyed a comfortable life. Good food, clean clothes and the perfect environment to learn—what more could an orphan ask for? One day, though, Emma and Norman uncover the dark truth of the outside world they are forbidden from seeing.
The Promised Neverland starts off cute and harmless but it turns out there is more than meets the eye in this anime, with its cliffhangers, extremely suspenseful, tense and heart-rending moments. It’s definitely a must-watch.
8. No Game, No Life

No Game, No Life is a beautifully colourful world, filled with wonder and brilliance. And like Dr. Stone, there is a lot of tactical thinking used by the characters which are very exciting to watch.
Summary
The internet is full of rumours about the Neet and Hikikomori genius gamer siblings Sora and Shiro. The two go as far as to refer to the world as a “shit game“, but then one day a young man calling himself “God“ summons them to a parallel universe. There, God has forbidden war, and “everything is to be settled with games“. Yes, even the national borders. Driven into a corner by other species, the ’human species’ is down to its last city. Can Sora and Shiro, these related failures of society, become the saviours of humankind in this parallel world?
No Game No Life is a brilliantly exciting masterpiece that challenges and excites viewers all at once. And just like Dr. Stone, you will find yourself needing to binge-watch the whole series if you decide to give it a try.
7. Cells at Work! (Hataraku Saibou)

After watching Dr. Stone, if you’re curious about science and biology, Cells at Work! Is definitely the show for you, it will satisfy and entertain you to no end, with its educational substance, comedic take and like Dr. Stone, it is an exciting take on the ‘science is fun’ trope.
Summary
Within the human body there is said to be approximately 60 million cells. White blood cells, red blood cells, platelets, macrophages, memory cells, killer T cells, natural killer cells, B cells, mast cells and many more! All these different cells work tirelessly within the body, never resting for a moment, at any time willing to resist invading foreign entities like germs and viruses to the bitter end! From Akane Shimizu, winner of Shounen Sirius’ Rookie Award, comes an informative tale about anthropomorthized cells!
Cells at Work! is definitely different from a lot of anime shows, I mean how many shows are set inside the human body, humanizing all the cells and microscopic organisms within. It’s definitely a must-watch if you liked Dr. Stone.
6. Astra Lost in Space (Kanata no Astra)

Kanata no Astra is definitely an underrated anime, looks can be deceiving and that’s how this anime feels at first glance but it’s a real gem and like Dr. Stone is a whole new breath of fresh air.
Summary
The year is 2061 when space travel is now possible and commercially viable, and the students of Caird High School embark on their Planet Camp. But soon after Group B5 arrived at their planetary campsite, a mysterious and unforeseen sentient light sphere warps its 9 members into outer space, stranding them 5012 light-years away from their home planet. With the discovery of an old, unmanned spaceship nearby, the students must stay strong, manage their limited resources and remain united in the darkness of space, so that all of them can survive their long and likely perilous trek back home aboard the Astra.
Kanata no Astra is a really decent anime, with a lot of mystery, logic and survival. Each element is done in a reasonable and accurate way like Dr. Stone, even the humour and drama aspects are well balanced and perfectly timed.
5. From the New World (Shinsekai Yori)

From the New World is like Dr. Stone just a lot darker and with a more serious tone, looking at how humanity has survived its destruction and rebuilt society. Asking the big questions what is yourself? society? and the importance of humanity?

The story is set in Japan a millennium from now. Five children — the protagonist Saki, Satoru, Maria, Mamoru, and Shun — have been born and raised in a tranquil town that can be described as a utopia, overflowing with water and green foliage. The world is ruled by people who have the “cursed power“ or the “gods’ power“ of telekinesis. After a certain incident, Saki and the others come to realize the true nature of their world. Before long, they learn everything, including the bloody history that brought humanity to this state. The five throw themselves into life-threatening adventure, fighting to protect friends and a world on the brink of collapse.
From the New World is a slow-paced anime but if you are patient with it, it’s an amazing and thought-provoking anime that you will be glad you watched.
4. Silver Spoon (Gin no Saji)

When I started watching Silver Spoon, like Dr. Stone I had my reservations thinking it would just be another fun little slice of life anime but it was much more.
Summary
Yugo Hachiken aspires to live separated from his family, so he takes the initiative by enrolling in an agriculture school. He thinks, with his talent in studying, no problems will arise no matter what kind of school he attends. He is quickly proven wrong. Raised as a city boy, he is forced to uncover the inconvenient truth about agricultural life. Enjoy the story of Hachiken, as he tries to keep up with his new friends, farmers’ heirs, who are already accustomed to the harsh world of farming. The story of a sweat, tear, and mud-stained youth begins!

Silver Spoon like Dr. Stone is the perfect example of an anime that encourages us to believe in our abilities to set our own path and with hard work and teamwork, we can overcome hardship.
3. Death Note

When Tsukasa Shishiou reveals his intention to revive only the young, destroy the petrified adults and leave society in the Stone Age, Dr. Stone started to remind me a lot of Death Note. With the strong rivalry between our protagonist and rival, the way they used their intellect to get things done, outsmarting the rest of the cast or just the lengths they went to achieve their dreams.
Summary
An overachieving 12th grader, Yagami Light is an aspiring young man who seems destined for success. Unfortunately, his daily habits bore his incredible intelligence. So when a strange black notebook falls from the heavens during his class, it isn’t long before he takes it for himself. In his room, he finds, to his horror/fascination, that the Death Note is real, and owned by Ryuk, a Shinigami (Death God). Any person’s name written in the Death Note will die in 40 seconds…. without fail. With this supposed gift of God, Light swears upon his grave that he will ’cleanse’ the world of the evil and needless people that inhabit it, thus creating a utopia for all. With the world’s greatest detective, L, hot on his tail, will Light’s ideals prove too fantastic to realize, or will he succeed bringing justice?
Death Note is definitely one of the best anime series of all time.

Ascendance of a Bookworm starts off like Dr. Stone the main character is removed from her world and brought back to a world that is primitive to her own. Using science and history knowledge from her time period to adapt and influence the new world and its native inhabitants.
Summary
Reino, a book-loving college student who just got her Librarian certification and was just hired to be the librarian of a large university library. Just before graduating and entering the job of her dreams, she was killed by a massive earthquake crushing her underneath a pile of her own books. Wishing for reincarnation in order to read evermore, where she got reincarnated to was a world with a low literacy rate and very few books, limited only to the nobility of the world. As she reincarnated as the daughter of a lowly soldier, no matter how much she wants to read there is no way there are any books around. If there are no books then what do you do? Why you make them yourself of course. What her goal is, to become the librarian of a library! In order to live a life surrounded by books, she starts with making books.
Ascendance of a Bookworm is Dr. Stone for viewers who want a slow-paced plot, that explores more of the ordinary life of a bookworm. It’s a beautiful isekai anime I recommend you give a try.
Girl’s Last Tour is quite similar to Dr. Stone in both plots happen in an apocalyptic world, where our characters survive the day-to-day hostilities of their environments.
Summary
Civilization is dead, but Chito and Yuuri are still alive. So they hop aboard their beloved Kettenkrad motorbike and aimlessly wander the ruins of the world they once knew. Day after hopeless day, they look for their next meal and fuel for their ride. But as long as the two are together, even an existence as bleak as theirs has a ray or two of sunshine in it, whether they’re sucking down their fill of soup or hunting for machine parts to tinker with. For two girls in a world full of nothing, the experiences and feelings the two shares give them something to live for…
Girls’ Last Tour is lighthearted and emotionally; it excels through simplicity and thoughtfulness. Making it one Of best shows of its year.
