Anime Couples are a HUGE topic in the anime community. Who is the best and who is just a red flag that they need to run away from? I did a piece on just a FEW of the best and worst anime couples out there that are canon. Which of course means I couldn’t put all my OTP’s in here but that’s okay.
To make it more fun, I’m going to put the WORST couples first.
6. Kotoko and Irie (ItaKiss) – worst couples number one!
Okay, I actually did a review of Itazura Na Kiss (Ita Kiss) and this relationship is still one that I’m salty about. The main female characters send out the wonderful message to young girls that if you just try hard enough with a guy who treats you like crap, you too can spend the best years of your life in an emotionally abusive relationship.
5. Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno (Naruto) – worst
While he has the affection of almost every girl he knows, Sasuke has only shown a romantic interest in Sakura and even then it wasn’t until the very end of the series. And doesn’t he leave again? I need to re-watch but still… not something that will actually last or be healthy and stable.
4. Light Yagami and Misa Amane (Death Note) -one of the worst anime couples ever
Really? Do I NEED to go into why this couple is on the worst list? Misa was okay, but she related to Kotoko in how she obsessed over Light and he just USED her for what he wanted and didn’t truly love her. While I love death note as a series, their relationship is definitely one of the worst ones I’ve known.
Okay, now for the BEST anime couples. I’m all wired and salty after just those few so here are three of the best relationships.

3. Taiga and Ryuuji (Toradora!) – best
This anime is adorable and one of my favorites. Taiga and Ryuuji were/are each other’s equals, despite how one treated the other. They always felt comfortable around each other and could talk about anything. If nothing else, the show is trying to tell us what a relationship is like and I agree.
2. Sadako and Kazehaya (Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You) – best
Just a slow and sweet love story between two young people. Nothing to hate about them and everything to love. Another good thing about this anime is that it’s perfect for those who are just starting their anime watching journey and don’t know where to begin. It’s proof that anime isn’t all hentai and gory stuff. It can also be cute and wholesome with great life lessons for kids AND adults.
1. Victor and Yuri (Yuri on Ice!!!) best anime couples
I will always love Victor and Yuri from Yuri on Ice!!! Fans will debate whether it’s canon, but I believe they are. So much so that I did an article on it! Both helped balance out the other’s weakness and bring out the other’s strength. If you don’t like them together, keep your comments to yourself as I will fight for this couple any day of the week.
