If you gave an anime fan like me a way to teleport into any anime I wanted to. Where would I go? That’s the question and prompt for the 5th day of the ANIMANGA festival, and yes, I know this is coming late, but I got the green light from the wonderful coordinators to still be able to do this, luckily.
Anime and manga are a big part of my daily life — and I know I’m not alone. Fans all over the world have their favorite fictional places they’d love to visit, and honestly, there are so many anime worlds I’d kill to just hang out in for a while.
Today, I will be introducing you to 12 places I think would be the best spots to go to, that I really think anyone would definitely fall in love with.

12. My Neighbor Totoro – Where Peace Feels Tangible
Look, I know everyone’s gunning for action-packed worlds with mechs and swords, but sometimes I just wanna chill. The countryside in My Neighbor Totoro is pure serotonin. You’ve got giant forest spirits, soot sprites, and a literal Catbus — what more could you need? Everything in that world feels soft and slow in the best way, like the universe finally decided to give your inner child a hug.
11. Pokémon – Yes, Still. No, I Will Not Apologize.
Tell me with a straight face that you wouldn’t drop everything to become a Pokémon trainer. The idea that your entire life revolves around catching magical creatures, traveling the world, and battling strangers for prize money is like a peak dream job. And the worst that happens is fainting. No hospital bills, just a free Poké Center and back on the road. Give me a Charmander and a backpack, I’m set.
10. One Piece – Dangerous, But Worth It
Okay, so hear me out — yes, the One Piece world is kinda unhinged. Giant sea monsters, corrupt marines, and the constant risk of drowning if you eat a Devil Fruit. But the freedom? The exploration? That world has so much personality that it practically slaps you in the face with it. I’d risk it all for a shot at sailing with a wacky crew, uncovering lost treasure, and laughing like an idiot every night over meat and rum.
9. The Ancient Magus’ Bride – Magic, But With Melancholy
This one’s for the fantasy nerd in me who wants magic but also emotional depth. The world of The Ancient Magus’ Bride is hauntingly beautiful — a mix of Celtic folklore, wizardry, and quiet tragedy. You get fae creatures, spellcraft, enchanted forests, and just enough eerie atmosphere to make it feel real. It’s not flashy, but it’s immersive. I’d happily trade rent stress for a magical cottage and a dragon neighbor.
8. Made in Abyss – Yes, I Know I’ll Die, But Still
Made in Abyss is terrifying, yes. The further you go down, the worse it gets. But the mystery of that abyss is just… magnetic. I want to explore it. I want to see those insane biomes with my own eyes. There’s something so intoxicating about a world that rewards curiosity and punishes it just as harshly. It’s beautiful and brutal, and I’d still jump in (with a parachute… probably).
6. Naruto – A World That Rewards Never Giving Up
Let’s be real: ninja school sounds like a blast. You train with your squad, learn elemental jutsu, go on missions, and maybe even get a cool headband. Sure, there’s war and trauma and cursed eyeballs, but I’d probably just be a background villager making ramen and chilling with ninja cats. And that’d still be awesome. The world-building in Naruto is so rich that it feels like you could just move there and find your own little niche.
5. KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!– Absolute Chaos, But Make It Fun
KonoSuba to me is a wonderful world to get lost in, from its unique characters to its beautiful and peaceful scenery when nothing is happening. Plus, it’s a fantasy world.
It’s a world that doesn’t take itself too seriously, focusing on slice of life shenanigans, making fun of everything and everyone. Wouldn’t mind spending time in the places and people of this world. And don’t forget adventuring.
4. My Hero Academia– A Superpowered Society That Still Feels Grounded
Cause for one, I’m a sucker for heroes and superpower genres, but I really like the way the world is realistic about how much skill and hard work go hand in hand. You can’t be the best if you don’t put in the work, and even then, sometimes even that isn’t enough. It’s a harsh and unforgiving world.
And I would just love being a hero in training with a cool quirk and maybe meet All Might or Deku someday, maybe I could be Deku’s sidekick or the next person to be given One For All.
3. The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior– Cozy Chaos and Quirky Roommates
The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior is a beautifully coloured world with unique and oddball characters, I would just love to be around. It’s a regular world but with quite unique people, I would love to eat and sleep under the same roof as.
The Kawai Complex is a place filled with a lot of love, humour, and real-life issues we all have, from friends to relationships and everything else, just experienced with people who are good friends.
2. Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions– When Fantasy Feels Real and Gritty
Grimgar is a wonderful world I wouldn’t mind being in. Yes, it’s a serious world where death is behind every turn when you are adventuring, but the camaraderie, beautiful places, and the wonderful sunrises and sunsets make up for all the negatives. It’s a world where you can really go on an adventure.
1. Spirited Away– A Magical World That Feels Like a Dream
The spirit realm is definitely a tunnel I would go through to see the different and colourful world with its different time of inhabitants from cute to really strange and weird. There are a lot of things to do in this beautiful animated world. But the cuisine is definitely a No No.

While “top X” lists are a bit of a cliché, we think it’s always interesting to see different perspectives and share what makes these anime shows stand out to us. As fans who have seen hundreds of anime, there are not that many that made us stop and say, “Wow, this is something truly special.” That said, here are the top 20 anime series, chosen by a team of writers who’ve watched hundreds of anime across genres.
1. Hunter x Hunter
Hunter x Hunter may have its fair share of hiatuses, but both the manga and anime are still as popular as ever. While the anime might not be as big as Naruto or One Piece due to the frequent breaks, the story of the lovable hunter Gon searching for his long-lost father has solidified itself as one of the best shounen, even with the story still unfinished.
With rich worldbuilding, memorable characters, and masterfully crafted arcs that explore complex moral themes, Hunter x Hunter is definitely one of the best anime out there.
2. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood nails everything, ranging from badass action through real emotional punches to deep, thoughtful stuff, without ever feeling heavy. If there is a king of storytelling done right, this series easily takes the crown. The Elric brothers’ journey is filled with moral dilemmas and personal growth, set against a richly developed world. It strikes that sweet spot between laughs and serious moments, so you’re never bored.
Gintama is one of a kind. It’s stupidly funny one minute and then hits you with emotional gut-punches the next. It somehow juggles parody, chaos, and legit powerful storytelling without ever losing its heart.
The show is set in an alternate Edo period where aliens have invaded Earth, and samurai Gintoki Sakata takes on odd jobs with his friends to make ends meet, leading to hilarious and action-packed adventures.
4. Code Geass
Code Geass is one of those anime that really makes you think about everything, from morality to the choices the characters make. The idea of the MC getting the power to control people with his eyes sounds crazy at first, but it’s how the show digs into the actual consequences of that power that sets it apart. Loved by many, it’s not just about epic battles or awesome mecha action; it’s about strategy, scheming, and the gray area between good and bad.
The story is set in an alternate future where the Holy Britannian Empire has conquered Japan. Exiled prince Lelouch vi Britannia gains Geass, a power that lets him control anyone with his gaze, and uses it to lead a revolution as the masked vigilante Zero.
5. Made in Abyss
Made in Abyss looks super cute at first. The characters have that almost chibi-like art style, and it all seems kinda whimsical. But don’t let that fool you. Not only does it get dark quickly, but it also gets sad just as fast. The anime somehow mixes breathtaking, otherworldly beauty with some seriously gruesome moments, so you’re constantly torn between “wow” and “oh no.”
Set in a world where a massive, mysterious pit called the Abyss stretches deep into the earth, the story follows a brave girl named Riko who dreams of becoming a legendary Cave Raider like her mother. When she meets a strange robot boy named Reg, the two set off on a dangerous journey into the depths.
6. Attack on Titan
In a world besieged by giant humanoid creatures known as Titans, humanity’s remnants reside within massive walled cities. After a colossal Titan breaches the outer wall, young Eren Yeager vows to eradicate every Titan, joining the military to fight back.
Attack on Titan is the kind of series you show your friend when they say anime is just for kids. With its intense storyline and exploration of mature themes like freedom, oppression, and the human condition, it quickly proves otherwise. Not to mention, it has one of the best plot twists in anime history.
7. Samurai Champloo
Samurai Champloo is about samurai and katana fights. Do I really have to say more?
A mixture of both the past and present, its story is packed full of fillers, and that’s what made Samurai Champloo so great. Its journey, not necessarily the destination. The destination was great too, but the show does so much more than it needed to. Normally, mixing so many things into a plot could be bad, but Samurai Champloo does it wonderfully. And the traveling companions are like water and oil.
It’s a show for everyone. There’s plenty of great sword-slashing action, clever comedy, and a good share of moments that will tug at your heartstrings, often all at once.
8. Spy x Family
In Spy x Family, we meet Loid Forger, a top-tier spy who builds a fake family for a mission. He marries Yor, a kind woman who’s secretly an assassin, and adopts Anya, a telepathic girl who knows the truth but just wants a real family.
None of them know each other’s real identity (except Anya), and her reactions are comedy gold.
Spy x Family is universally loved by most people fortunate enough to come across it, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s funny, wholesome, stylish, and easy to get into, even if you don’t usually watch anime. It doesn’t rely on heavy lore, weird tropes, or anything confusing. Moreover, its English dub is surprisingly good.
9. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Among the newer anime, Demon Slayer (2019) stole the spotlight, and honestly, my heart too, with its gorgeous animation and emotional storytelling. The main guy might seem like your typical shounen hero at first, but that doesn’t take away from how beautifully built the world is or how powerful his journey feels. It’s packed with action, but it also hits hard emotionally in a way you don’t always expect.
In this anime, after demons slaughter his family and turn his sister Nezuko into one, Tanjiro Kamado joins the Demon Slayer Corps to avenge his family and find a cure for Nezuko.
10. March Comes in Like a Lion
The animation and soundtrack in this anime are amazing. It’s one of those series that is much more than it appears on the surface, with plenty of layers and depth.
March Comes in Like a Lion follows Rei Kiriyama, a young boy who loses his parents and sister in an accident. He is left to live with a family friend, where things take a darker turn, leading him to become a professional shogi player.
March Comes in Like a Lion is a powerful coming-of-age story about overcoming depression, and it really helped me understand myself a bit more. It even got me to try my hand at shogi, though I’m no Rei Kiriyama!
11. Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash
Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash is a unique anime that really felt realistic to me. We watched our characters go from 0 to not a 100, but they did get a bit better. With each of their interactions and the plot, I noticed this. I really felt like these were characters I would love to laugh, cry, and go on adventures with.
With a great story, characters, art, and sound, it really is a shame it was only 12 episodes. I’m still waiting patiently for a second season. Until then, I still go back now and then to watch the 12 episodes we have so far. With its large main cast, it was still able to balance between the group and the individuals, and that’s a very hard task to carry out.
12. 86
In a dystopian future, the Republic of San Magnolia claims to be fighting a war with drones, but the truth is that the oppressed “86” are forced to pilot mechs. The story follows Lena, a handler from the Republic, and Shin, a battle-hardened 86 soldier, as they slowly form a bond across the divide.
86 (2021)is one of the best newer anime out there, and fans are eagerly waiting for season 2 to be announced. While the description sounds bleak, 86 isn’t just grim; it has some genuinely beautiful, hopeful, and even tender moments that hit even harder because of all the darkness around them.
13. Kamisama Kiss
Nanami is a high school girl who’s down on her luck. Her dad ditches her, she’s broke, and she ends up homeless. But then she saves a weird guy from a dog, and he’s like, “Hey, you can have my house.” Totally normal… except that “house” turns out to be a shrine, and suddenly she’s a land god living with a grumpy yet handsome fox familiar.
Kamisama Kiss is sweet and funny, and it has actual relationship development. Not just endless flirting with no payoff. Those who like a sprinkle of fantasy, a sprinkle of mischief, and a whole lot of heart, Kamisama Kiss finely hits the spot.
14. KonoSuba
God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! is very good too. It may look like any other RPG harem, but it is so much more than that.
It’s not a show trying to teach you any life lessons; it’s just a show full of entertainment, hilarious moments, and lightheartedness.
Here’s another lesser-known anime that Rai (from Rai’s Anime Blog) and I talked about recently. It features a cross-dressing male character and a young otaku surrounded by her fellow otaku friends.

16. Fruits Basket
I’ve always loved both the Fruits Basket manga and the original 2001 anime, even though there were some differences. A heartwarming story, the series follows a girl who becomes entangled with a family cursed to transform into animals of the Chinese zodiac.
The 2019 remake takes things up a notch. It follows the manga much more closely, and you can tell that Natsuki Takaya was more involved this time around.
17. Bokura wa Minna Kawai-sou
Bokura wa Minna Kawai-sou is a great shoujo to watch that doesn’t seem rushed, especially with just 12 episodes.
The art and sound were amazing, and the characters were all so lovely and quirky (but in a good way). I really think everyone will see a bit of themselves in one of the characters.
My joy for this anime surprised me because I usually find romance anime not really my thing, but the love in this anime felt really believable and puts a spin on the usual boy meets girl, boy confesses his feelings, and they share a kiss. But it was different this time; the comedy and great characters really bring the story to life and make you love every moment of the anime.
18. Inuyasha
Of course, Inuyasha is my favorite. It was my first real anime, and I quickly fell in love with the story and the adorable hanyou (half-demon, half-human).
Now, Fairy Tail is one of those mainstream anime that you either love or hate. Personally, I loved the artwork and the many plotlines that kept things exciting. I can’t even count how many times I bawled my eyes out while watching this show.
Family and friendship are things everyone connects with, and they’re at the heart of a lot of shounen, with Fairy Tail being no exception. It’s exactly that bond between the fleshed-out characters that makes this series so great. Fairy Tail is one of those series I always recommend for newcomers since it’s easy to follow, filled with epic fights, goofy banter, and a wholesome theme.
20. Shugo Chara
Not many people know about this one, but I absolutely love it. As a kid, I related to it so much. It even gave me the courage to embrace being the “weird anime kid” in school and helped me feel less alone.
The artwork might be a bit odd (especially the eyes), but that doesn’t stop me from loving it. It’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

The story moved at a slow pace and had so many plots and side plots, you would think it was this, then get the rug pulled from under you and it would turn out to be this, which made you develop so many theories, but towards the end so many things where explained.
19. Ascendance of a Bookworm

Synopsis
It’s 2126, a Dive Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game called Yggdrasil was released and it’s very popular for being able to allow players to interact with the game, after 12 years it’s finally shutting down.
In the game a guild known as Ainz Ooal Gown once made up of 41 members and know as one of the strongest guilds in the game, now only for 4 members remain and out of the 4 only one, an elder lich character named Momonga, continues to play as the guild leader, maintaining their headquarters- The Great Tomb of Nazarick.
Momonga spends his last few moments in the game as the server begins to shut down to his surprise despite the clock having struck midnight, he is still in the game and the NPC have also developed personalities. So now he commands his loyal servants to help him investigate and take over the new world he is in and maybe finding other players stuck in the game like him.

I had my reservations about it coming in, thinking it would be generic and the same old same old, but it differs in the sense that the protagonist is the antagonist and I felt this was new and creative.
The art and music were a good combination, matching themselves brilliantly and the characters were great and a good combination, complementing each other.
17. Log Horizon

Synopsis
After a game update of a popular MMORPG, Elder Tales thirty thousand Japanese gamers are taken away from their everyday lives into the game world are unable to log out. The series follows the socially awkward strategist and veteran of the game, Shiroe and other players.
Shiroe explores the limits of his new reality, learning to live in this new world, leading and working with other players and NPC in other to bring stability back to the virtual city of Akihabara. Trying to make the best of their new world.

It’s slow-paced at the beginning but picks up as the show goes on, and unlike other shounen anime where the main character powers up and defeats his enemy, Shiroe is not like that, instead of With his strategic approach to battle, he’s usually in the background controlling the flow of battle, getting him the nickname “villain in glasses”.
It’s not your typical show, I especially liked how realism in the world of fantasy was added into Log Horizon, it’s not a perfect show but it was enjoyable to watch.
16. Sword Art Online
Genres: Action, Adventure, Romance, Game, Fantasy

Synopsis
The series takes place in the near future and focuses on protagonist Kazuto “Kirito” Kirigaya and Asuna Yuuki that are trapped with ten-thousand others by the game’s creator, in a virtual reality MMORPG game, in the scenic and elaborate world of Aincrad.
In this near-future 2022, where virtual reality has developed greatly and with the aid of “NerveGear” technology, players control their avatars in the game using their thoughts.
Using fantastic weapons to fight gruesome monsters and other players, unable to log out the only way out of this virtual hell is to complete all one hundred levels of the game. If you die in the game, you die in real life.

There are some harsh reviews out there about this fantasy anime, and some point out some far-off points, but I believe that even if the plot and characters were not the best, the art and sound get high marks. But you have to admit it is enjoyable; the pacing was off, and the time skip didn’t help its cause.
With SAO, you will either love this fantasy anime or hate it.
15. Goblin Slayer

This anime is a rollercoaster of intensity. It doesn’t pull any punches. It’s dark, it’s brutal, and it’s utterly gripping. I mean, the Goblin Slayer’s sheer determination to wipe out goblins, no matter the cost, is both haunting and strangely heroic.
You’ll find yourself on the edge of your seat as this group battles these seemingly insignificant foes with a ferocity that’s nothing short of awe-inspiring. But fair warning, it’s not for the faint of heart. If you’re into dark fantasy with a heavy dose of action, this one’s a must-watch.

Mahoujin Guruguru is an anime that is funny throughout with RPG elements and references. It makes fun of itself and you strangely don’t get bored of it like you would with some animes of its type.
This anime brings back a lot of nostalgia, with its narrative, dialogue box, and sometimes 2D pixelated scenes. It’s an old classic that has been remade for the new generation, and it was executed brilliantly.
In a fantastical world filled with dungeons, magic, and adventure, we follow the story of Aladdin, a young magician with a mysterious flute, and Alibaba, a skilled warrior with dreams of conquering a dungeon.
Together with Morgiana, a slave with incredible physical abilities, they set out on a quest to explore dungeons, amass treasures, and uncover the secrets of the world’s magical system. Little do they know that they’re entangled in a destiny that goes far beyond their wildest imaginations.

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is a neat blend of adventure, magic, and friendship that had me hooked from the start. The world-building is rich and immersive, drawing you into a vibrant universe with its own rules and politics.
Aladdin, Alibaba, and Morgiana are a fantastic trio with distinct personalities and goals, making their adventures both exciting and heartwarming.
But what actually sets Magi apart is how it tackles complex themes like destiny, power, and morality. It’s not just about flashy magic battles; it delves deep into the human psyche.
Whether you’re in it for the epic adventures or the thought-provoking themes, Magi delivers on all fronts.
12. Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid (Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon)

Jujutsu Kaisen is like a shot of adrenaline straight to the heart. The animation quality is out of this world, making every fight scene an absolute visual spectacle.
But what truly hooked me is the characters – they’re not your typical one-dimensional heroes. Yuji, in particular, is a fantastic protagonist, combining humor, vulnerability, and sheer badassery in one package. And let’s not forget Gojo Satoru, who’s just a certified scene-stealer with his overpowered charisma.
If you’re a fan of intense battles, cool curses, and a dash of humor, Jujutsu Kaisen is the way to go.
7. Chainsaw Man

I absolutely love how Chainsaw Man takes you on a wild, unapologetically dark, and oh-so-twisted journey into the realm of supernatural horror. I was all in on this anime from the get-go because of its constant action, surprise plot turns, and a protagonist like no other. Denji’s transformation into the Chainsaw Man is not just physical but also symbolic of his evolution as a character.
It’s gory, intense, and filled with moments that make you question the very nature of good and evil. This one’s a visceral rollercoaster that’s not afraid to push the boundaries of horror and fantasy. Fans who enjoy the darker side of anime and don’t mind a generous dose of blood and gore will love Chainsaw Man.
Set in Taisho-era Japan, the story follows young Tanjiro Kamado, a kind-hearted boy who becomes a demon slayer after his family is slaughtered by demons, and his sister, Nezuko, is turned into one.

Each episode is a visual treat, and it’s packed with enough action and heart to leave you both breathless and teary-eyed. It’s no wonder it became a global phenomenon. If you haven’t watched it yet, trust me, it’s worth every moment.

Honestly, this series is not your typical fantasy anime. It’s a heartfelt, touching journey that will tug at your heartstrings and haunt your dreams. But you won’t regret a single moment of it. It’s a masterpiece, plain and simple.

To repay the favour he offers to help her in her search, after finding it though they are both killed, Subaru awakens back to the time when he first gets to this new world. Discovering he as acquired an ability he calls “Return by Death”, which enables him to reverse time by dying.
He will face many obstacles, challenges and sometimes even just having “Return by Death” will not be enough, has saved Emilia and everyone he cares about in this new world.

This is a fantasy anime show for people who are new and old to anime. It takes different aspects and genres to create this wonderful show and I would recommend everyone who watches anime.
I loved it because I felt it was something new and creative, with a detailed plot and a well-developed cast. It was fun to watch from beginning to end.

Kazuma soon realises that living in this new world is different from how it plays out in a game, instead of going on adventures they must first work to pay for their living expenses and for membership into the adventurers guild. Forming a party later and recruiting an explosion-obsessed mage named Megumin and a masochistic crusader named Darkness. But he soon realises fighting monsters are not a walk in the park and quickly gives up the idea of defeating the Demon King and tries to live a luxurious lifestyle, only to find circumstances of their daily lives are forcing him to encounter and battle the Devil King’s generals and actually be an adventurer.

I had my doubts about this anime but I was glad I gave it a chance the only real problem with it was it was only 10 episodes in the first season, there was very little relevant plot and it sometimes promised to be going somewhere with the plot but yet never does but to be that was one of the things that made it better, it was refreshing and I couldn’t stop laughing till the very end.
It was pure joy watching its characters were all funny and awesome, the animation and art were gorgeous and the soundtrack was amazing too. With genuinely hilarious jokes, any flaws this series has are easily forgotten. It will cheer you up and is great for a new anime watcher, you won’t be disappointed.

He ventures deeper within the city’s monster-filled catacombs, known as the “Dungeon”, with death lurking at every corner, while a mysterious power moves amidst the shadows, he gains allies and gets stronger with each challenge he faces.

I finally got around to watching this and it was very definitely worth watching and became a guilty pleasure for me, it was not the most well-written story but it just works, maybe because of the ton of clichés and fanservice, the pacing can also be sometimes questionable but even so it never fails to entertain. The setting is within an MMORPG game world, the difference this time is that instead, to them that’s the real world for our character and it functions like a game. Gaining experience points, earning loot, leveling up, gaining skills and magic.
Bell is a very new and refreshing protagonist, he’s not a typical imbalanced protagonist, nor a generic shounen hero relying on the power of friendship to save the day, but he is extremely shy, innocent, and a very kind-hearted person who does care for those around him and help them anyhow he can, even if it puts him at risk himself and this makes him very relatable.
Danmachi gives you much more than you would expect when watching it and I love that about it.

A ragtag party of Manato, a charismatic leader and priest; Haruhiro, a nervous thief; Yume, a cheerful hunter; Shihoru, a shy mage; Mogzo, a kind warrior; and Ranta, a rowdy dark knight, this is the group we follow as they fight to survive in this new world.
This is the story of adventurers born from the ashes.

The show was quite a unique watch and made me want more shows like it the environment, and background felt hand-drawn and were very beautiful and warm. Character growth felt natural and was not unrealistic 0 to 100 time frame, they failed, succeeded, laughed, and cried, they felt like real people’s faults, limitations, and all, and I just loved every moment of it.
They balanced everything out wonderfully in this anime from reflection by characters, which was interesting to watch and not boring with you wishing it was over already, you enjoyed watching them on the battlefield and in their daily lives. There is group development and not just solely an individual’s development, no character is neglected and we get to see how they all live roles, and reactions to events, and this is all balanced out very well. It can be seen as slow-paced because of this but it’s so well done you will end up not minding the pacing, because there is a reason for this, and it’s a good one.
Hai to Gensou no Grimgar can be seen as a slice of life with a combination of realism and narrative showing the characters’ lives and relatively slow progression makes it easy to watch and follow. The sound is just as great as the Art of this anime, also helping convey the mood and story.
It’s a must-watch fantasy anime but I hate it’s just 12 episodes, I think it deserved more, as we don’t get to see the new developments in the characters at the end of episode 12 being used.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR! Welcome to my post reviewing Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions, a post I have wanted to talk about for some time. So as the year has come to an end, and we start a new one. There is no better time to dust this anime off my shelf, rewatch it, review it and get anyone who hasn’t seen it yet to give it a try.

Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions (Hai to Gensou no Grimgar)

Summary
When Haruhito awakens, he’s in the dark. He doesn’t know where he is, why is he here, and where he came from. Around him there are several other men and women who have the same problem. Together, they advance forward away from the darkness, and a world they’ve never seen before called “Grimgar” spreads out before them.
With no memory of how they got here and with only a fleeting memory of their names, these adventurers have to fend off all sorts of creatures. In this new world, the adventurers find that there’s only one rule – kill or be killed. Memories, money, special powers — this is the reality we who have none of those things have obtained.
What did I think?
Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions (or Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash), Japanese title “Hai to Gensou no Grimgar” is a rather unique take on the MMO isekai genre, taking a much more slower and measured pace than the usual fast paced action-focused elements the genre is usually known for.
Grimgar to me felt more like a ‘Slice of Life’ fantasy adventure. Focusing heavily on character personalities, drama, tender scenes, moments of valor and friendship. And that’s truly where Grimgar shines the most the feeling of comradery among the characters.
It takes a more realistic approach to people being unnatural inhabitants in a world that takes its self for granted, being very unforgiving if taken lightly, with no memory of their former world they fight to survive and succeed in their new one and coupled with the beautiful watercolour art, it makes for a refreshing change of pace from other isekai.
Overall the series is a very compelling and unique adventure. Grimgar is an anime that needs some time to build off its weak start than your average fantasy series, but the show feels more fully realized and emotionally fulfilling for it.
STORY
Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions or Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash (Hai to Gensou no Grimgar) is an anime based on the light-novel series written by Ao Jyumonji and illustrated by Eiri Shirai. Grimgar’s main theme to me was realism, with dialogue-less moments, where sometimes music was used to express the narrative and character development.
Grimgar is a slow-burning, and surprisingly thoughtful anime even though we are not given much explanation as to where they actually came from, and what they are doing in Grimgar. It’s an anime that feels more like a slice-of-life than a regular old isekai, with the way it handled things like deaths, teamwork, life and character development.
This might be in part to Ryosuke Nakamura, the director who is most known for slice of life shows and not action-adventure shows. Players don’t respawn if they die, monsters don’t just disappear once defeated leaving loot behind and NPCs don’t teach new skills or craft for you at the click of a button.
Looking at “What if this was reality?” where you choose a class, join the respective guilds for them, kill monsters and sell their parts or loot for money, an MMO world without all the conveniences but all the consequences.
I love how they gave us these characters that feel like real human people, that we get to see manage basic needs, such as food and shelter. Seeing their individual daily lives and interactions and moments that feel real and necessary for the plot and characters. Balancing wonderfully realism and narrative focus, to create a series that though progression can be slow, watching the growth of the group and the developing of bonds make it worth the watch.
CHARACTER
Grimgar takes the emotional lives and development of its characters seriously, and is much richer for it. Showing real friction between members and uncomfortable conversations. I love how real and relatable the characters are.
Some characters establish their own identity and tone immediately, while others became clearer as the story developed more. Their reactions to waking up in a strange world, with strange rules, where they are expected to fight monsters, gain loot, level up and knowing but not knowing they had left one world for this one felt real.
And they were not overpowered characters who could take on a hoard of monsters. Their party lacked skills, had no experience, and even dealing with the lowest level monsters, goblins was first really impossible for them. They lived each day as it came.
The characters are all so lovable I would have loved being part of their party and exploring the world of Grimgar with Haruhiro, Ranta, Manato, Shihoru, Moguzo, Yume and Merry.
ART
Grimgar’s art was dazzling with animation that’s definitely above the usual anime offering, with beautiful watercolour backgrounds, atmospheric lighting effects and amazing character designs. The scenery was just so beautiful and complemented the story, always helping create the desired mood of the moment. It was a world I wanted to explore more of from its city life to its dungeons.
Sound
The soundtracks set the mood flawlessly and with great consistency, that resonated with me and sometimes hit close to home. And like the art really helped set the mood and help with story development, where words would fail.

I honestly have a lot of favourite moments from Grimgar, like when they raided a goblin hideout, when the party would sit and eat together, quiet regular day moments the list could go on.
One will have to be; Episode 5 of Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions. It was realistic in how it handled an issue, letting us know it was ok to not be ok. While still also making laugh after it all.
Another would be Ranta and Haruhiro dynamic, the others interactions were great too but I liked how their relationship was like Yin and Yang. They both never really could agree on anything but they work well together.
Least favourite moment?
Episode 4of Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions. It was an episode that really reminded me to let the people you love know how much you love them.
Favourite character?
Ranta
Even though he can be difficult and he tries to act tough, Ranta’s a softie, he cares about his party, providing the extreme perspective they need sometimes and is willing to dive into the thick of battle to help protect the others. He’s not perfect but he does have redeeming qualities that he tries, I think in his own way to use to make up for them.

They are not terrible but since I have to pick;

What I learnt?
I learnt a lot from Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions, like;
it was ok not to be ok, being ok takes time and it’s not just with a snap of your fingers. But it was something that happened by taking it a day at a time.
Things won’t always go your way but you can learn to learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward.

YES! Grimgar lived up to its bright potential, making it reminiscent of an old D&D game. Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions is a unique Isekai anime, that shows deep relationships, wonderful character design, unique animation and amazing music.

Grimgar Ashes and Illusions season 1 premiered on January 11, 2016, and the season finale was aired on March 28, 2016. With a Season 1 special that aired, on March 16, 2016, much to all of us delight.

He is a Qwaser, a being that draws power from Soma and is able to manipulate a specific element. And now, in the 21st century, the mystery revolving around an Icon turns the academy into the battlegrounds for the fight between the Qwaser!
Even though it can be a bit offensive. I strangely enjoyed this series a lot! It has a bit for everyone. With an original story, action, ecchi, shounen, superpower, supernatural, a bit of comedy, and actually made me want to brush up on my chemistry lessons.

Summary

KILL la KILL takes all the worn-out tropes and clichés of anime and creates something quite unique and entertaining. It’s a series that is confusing, exhilarating, comical, lively, and goddamn refreshing all at once.

With plenty of moments reminiscent of the awkward high school days, harems, emotions, drama, an interesting plot, and plenty of fanservice, High School DxD is really well balanced and put together.

Highschool of the Dead is a very enjoyable fanservice anime, with thought-provoking episodes. It’s a show with plenty of zombies, a ragtag group, and bs.
Summary
A mysterious illness is spreading rapidly through the halls of Fujimi High School. In a matter of hours, the campus is transformed from a place of learning into a hive of nightmares, as the infected students collapse and are reborn as flesh-hungry zombies! Only a handful of students escape the initial outbreak — among them Takashi Komuro and his childhood friend, Rei. He manages to protect Rei from the initial onslaught, but how long can Takashi and the other students hope to survive when the whole school – maybe the whole town — is out for their blood?!
Even if you are not into fanservice, Highschool of the Dead is an anime with plenty more to offer from action, comedy, suspense, and interesting characters that make it enjoyable on those aspects alone.

With a season 1, 2 and a still anticipated season 3 Sekirei has a basic premise that is silly and pleasantly surprising. Combining a lot of different genres together and making it work.
Summary
Minato is a total loser. He’s failed to make it into college twice, he’s unpopular with women, and he’s unemployed. He seems like the classic-useless-shounen-harem-male-lead… In truth, however he’s actually an Ashikabi, one of a mysterious set of “masters” in an awesome battle royale between hordes of cute girls called “Sekirei.” Since this is a fanservice manga, their attacks often happen to… you guessed it-rip each others’ clothes off! Looks like Minato luck’s taken a turn for the better.
Sekirei is entertaining, with harems, over-the-top fanservice, and a plot that doesn’t always stay on track but takes you episodes that felt like fillers, but strangely doesn’t feel tiring watching.
14. Fire Force

Fire Force fanservice has been said by some to have ruined an anime that offers one of the more original takes on shonen, with design and an amazing color pallet.

Fire Force has an interesting plot, supernatural firefighters fighting against flame monsters with axes, machine guns, nuns, cool fights, good music, and over-the-top ecchi fanservice.

Summary

The tattoo is a secret weapon produced in the arms race between America and the Serinistan Kingdom. Seigi finds himself in over his head when a powerful girl, using the same secret weapon, violently pursues him in order to retrieve it. His skill at martial arts may not be enough to keep him alive, but will he be able to learn how to trigger the power of his tattoo in time?
Taboo Tattoo has a fanservice anime that is great with action and supernatural elements, that constantly switches from a comedy to a serious show, which can be a bit too much but it is a decent anime that’s good enough to kill some time.

Maken-Ki! Battling Venus has been labeled by some as a poorly done hentai. But I think it’s a must-try anime, it has an interesting plot and has just the right balance of fanservice for a fanservice anime fan.

Summary

Along the way, she meets Natsu Dragneel, a teenage boy looking for his foster parent, a dragon named Igneel, with his best friend, Happy the cat. Shortly after their meeting, Lucy is abducted by Bora of Prominence, who was posing as Salamander of Fairy Tail, to be sold as a slave. Natsu rescues her and reveals that he is the real Salamander of fairy tail and has the skills of a Dragon Slayer, an ancient fire magic. He offers her membership into the guild, which she gladly accepts, they along with Erza Scarlet -Armored maiden, Gray Fullbuster -Ice Maker, and Happy become a team performing various missions offered to the Fairy Tail guild.
Fairy Tail is completely off the scale with how it handles its plot, discussing all sorts of different issues, common tropes, and general cliches. It’s a show that goes all out, and that makes it worth watching.

Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks? takes us on a weird fantastically fanservice adventure through its world, meeting new lovely allies along the way. It is a series that’s going to appeal to a certain audience.
8. Prison School

Prison School is a fanservice anime with a very unusual combination of genres and styles but is done just right. Watching Prison School there was definitely never a dull moment with a lot of genuinely hilarious, most lewdest scenes, and actually touching moments.

Hachimitsu Private Academy was a revered and elite all-girls’ boarding school on the outskirts of Tokyo…once upon a time. But with the new school year comes a revision to school policy: Boys are to be admitted into the student body for the first time ever. But on his first day at Hachimitsu, Kiyoshi Fujino discovers that he’s one of only five boys enrolled at the school. Their numbers overwhelmed by the thousand girls in the student body is it heaven or hell that awaits these five (un)fortunate?!
Prison School manages to tell an interesting story with hilarious comedy and incredibly fanservice scenes, but still being suspenseful and more than just another fanservice anime.

To LOVE-Ru is just mindless comedic entertainment. The plot is pretty silly but it makes up for it with its fanservice, comedy, and just being entertaining.

To LOVE-Ru is a fanservice anime for someone who just wants to watch something with a change of pace or an anime that doesn’t take itself too seriously with likable characters, nice music, and good voice acting.

With a simple story, no silly out-of-place action scenes, and simple lewd comedy. Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls is a fanservice anime that proves sometimes less is more as long as it is executed properly. It’s a series that was both fun and exciting to watch and rarely failed to make me chuckle.

In Keijo!!!!!!!! butts and bs are lethal weapons, it’s an anime that is quite asstounding creative in its own right, and I couldn’t stop laughing at how silly it was. But even with all Keijo’s ridiculous fanservice, it turned out to be a surprisingly good ecchi, comedy, fanservice, and sports anime.
Summary
Kaminashi Nozomi (17) is an exceptional gymnast. So much so that colleges with some of the best gymnastic programs are trying to recruit her. Unfortunately for them, she has other plans. Due to her family being extremely poor, money is everything to her. That’s why she wants to step into the world of “Keijo.” “Keijo” is a type of gambling sport where girls stand on a small floating platform and compete against one another. The aim is to push the other contestant off of the platform into the water, but they are only allowed to use their butt or breasts to push the others off. Will Nozomi be able to compete in the intense world of “Keijo,” become the “Keijo Queen,” and bring wealth and fortune for her family?
Keijo!!!!!!!! is a fanservice anime that doesn’t take itself seriously at all, poking fun at more mainstream anime and just borderline overly exaggerated every scenario as much as possible to create a truly entertaining to watch.
4. Witchblade

Witchblade is a fanservice anime that’s a nice surprise for fanservice and non-fanservice lovers, with a bit for everyone. With a simple-to-follow story for story lovers, a bit of action, and sexy female characters in skimpy clothes in their transformed states. and is a perfect example of not judging a book just by its cover.
Summary
Masane Amaha and her daughter Rihoko are on the run from a government child welfare agency that wants to take Rihoko away from her mother. They are caught and Rihoko is taken away. Meanwhile, Masane is attacked by an advanced weapon that can disguise itself as a human being. When faced with the danger, a strange light emits from her wrist and she transforms into a powerful being. She destroys the weapon and consequently becomes involved in a power struggle between powerful organizations, with her at the center of their attention. Because she holds the greatest power of them all, the legendary Witchblade. – MAL
Witchblade was a very enjoyable experience, that focuses on character development that had my attention till the very end. Witchblade is a gem that definitely deserves to have more people giving it a chance.
3. The Testament of Sister New Devil

The Testament of Sister New Devil is a fanservice anime that has been compared to Highschool DxD, with mixed reviews. with action, comedy, ecchi, harem, and fanservice that feels like borderline hentai.
Summary
“Hey, you said you wanted a sister, right?” First year highschool student, Toujo Basara, was suddenly asked by his father and fell into a state of panic. On top of that, the eccentric father told him he will be getting remarried. He then departed overseas after bringing Basara two beautiful step-sisters. But Mio and Maria’s true forms are actually the newbie Demon Lord and a succubus!? Basara was almost entered into a master and servant contract with Mio, but a reversed contract was formed by mistake, and Basara is now the master!? Moreover, Basara is being hit by ecchi situations one after another due to the contract, but Mio’s life is being pursued by other demon tribes and hero tribes!! The most powerful contractor’s desired action drama begins!
The Testament of Sister New Devil is one of those anime that had its moments of being hilarious and entertaining but just didn’t seem to be able to balance out their plot with the fanservice moments. The fanservice was also ridiculously censored, with little or no real character development, but it definitely went above and beyond to fill its quota for a fanservice anime.
2. Kiss x Sis

Kiss x Sis is a perfectly good textbook showcasing fanservice anime done properly, you get exactly what you signed up for when you pick this anime up. Kiss x Sis doesn’t play in the kiddy pool of lewdness but takes it to the highest degree, unapologetically blurring the line between anime and hentai.
Summary
Keita has two older (not blood-related) twin step-sisters who love him in a lustful way and have no problems expressing it. They even like to compete about it; much to the laughter of his friends (which he usually endures without problems). One day they come to his school to give him his lunch, resulting in him getting angry due to the atmosphere. To counteract his anger, they confess their tender feelings for him in front of everyone and leave. Feeling sorry he chases after them and says that he’ll study hard in order to get in the same high school as them.
Considered as one of the best fanservice anime, Kiss x Sis is a series with a simple straightforward plot, with no generic harem elements, no dynamic and intriguing characters, just incredibly hot and exciting fanservice made for the fans of the genre in mind.

The Monogatari Series is definitely a rare gem in the fanservice department in that even if you took out the fanservice elements it would still be entertaining. The fanservice in this series is just the sprinkles on top of an already great series, which knows just when and where to add fanservice elements to the story.

Monogatari Series centres on Koyomi Araragi, a third-year high school student who is almost human again after briefly becoming a vampire. One day, a classmate named Hitagi Senjgahara, who infamously never talks to anyone, falls down the stairs into Koyomi’s arms. He discovers that Hitagi weighs next to nothing, in defiance of physics. After being threatened by her, Koyomi offers his help, and introduces her to Meme Oshino, a strange middle-aged man living in an abandoned building, who cured him of being a vampire…
Monogatari Series follows Araragi as he attempts to help those who suffer from supernatural maladies.
There is a lot to love for everyone in Monogatari Series from the in-depth character conversations, fourth-wall-breaking, sleek art, the supernatural, romance, ecchi, and don’t forget the fanservice. The Monogatari Series is a brilliant series that knows how to strike the right balance with the plot, character development, and fanservice.

He lives a loner life, living by himself, estranged from his family and has basically a handful of friends. Among them is a family that keeps several cats, and which comprises of a young woman Akari Kawamoto, and younger sisters Hinata and Momo.
The story shows how Rei develops as a person and shogi player and deepening his relationship with the Kawamoto sisters and others.
Am going to binge-watch it myself this holiday, but I got this recommendation from my younger brother, he’s pretty knowledgeable about anime and I have been hearing a lot about this one. I have watched only one episode so far a visual quality really blew me away, it’s really good and shows promise. So taking a blind fate on this and recommending it even though I have not finished watching it myself.
Berserk
The story centres on Guts, a lone mercenary and Griffiths, a leader of the mercenary band -Band of the Hawk. You think Sasuke and Naruto rivalry was something, Griffiths and Guts take it to a whole new level. Really realistic and shows the good and evil humans are capable of, how society as become and so much more.
Guts is a wandering mercenary who from his birth as been soaked in blood and war, born from a hanged corpse, adopted mother dies from the plague and adoptive father try to kill him, which forces Guts to kill him and this scars Guts even more.
He meets Griffiths as he wonders and forced to join is a band of mercenaries, and he finds a home there and becomes friends with Griffiths. But he later decides to leave after hearing Griffiths saying he doesn’t consider anyone a real friend that follows someones dream and doesn’t have their own, and Griffiths has big plans.
He joins the team again when Griffiths been captured and after a tough fight they rescue him, but Griffiths is a shadow of his former self, his body is completely broken. This is where the supernatural world is really explored now and by sacrificing the band of the hawk, he is revived better than ever.
Casca and Guts the only survivors at the ceremony called the Eclipse, Guts swears revenge for the men and Casca whose a shadow of her former self. And the story begins of blood and rampage, but there are still moments in between that makes you laugh and smile.
It really makes you understand everyone perspective, so you understand where the villains are coming from if you can really call them that sometimes. Because even sometimes in Guts fights, he can be questioned if he’s the good guy. Plus that big sword that Guts swings around is awesome and his prosthetic arm that as a cannon in it is awesome. And along the line, he gets an armour that shuts of the limiters in his body but slowly takes over if used for long and turns him into a raging Berserker, thing Bleach Ichigo’s Hollow mode.
Its really good but the manga is better and that’s only cause I feel the anime cuts so much out. But it should be noted it can be very graphic in its violence and sexual content.
Boku no Hero Academia
At first, when I saw the hero think, I was a bit sceptical about it but I came back to watch it when I kept hearing good reviews about it and it really good. Some people have even speculated it the new “big anime” like the likes of Naruto, One-piece, Dragon Ball, Bleach and other really popular anime. Masashi Kishimoto the creator of Naruto has even said how he thinks it’s really good. And before Boruto came out to replace Naruto, some people thought it would fill the gap Naruto would leave.
The story follows Izuku Midoriya, a boy born “Quirkless” meaning he as no powers, on this earth people with quirks, is the norm. So Izuku is bullied for standing out (being quirkless), even though all this, he still wants to be a superhero. And along he meets the world greatest hero All Might and he shares his quirk “One For All” with Izuku. Enrolling him into U.A. High School, a school that cultivates the next generation of superheroes and hero support teams. And like the intro says his story begins to tell us how he became the world’s greatest hero.
Hai to Gensou no Grimgar
The story is about a group of people who suddenly find themselves in a fantasy world with no memory from before waking up in this new world, it shows their struggles to survive and make a life for themselves in this new world.
Grimgar what can’t I say about it, am still waiting for a second season, it was really great and it wasn’t just focused on the gaming world element like most anime of this genre are. It talks about comradery, developing into a team and developing together but it doesn’t do it in a cheesy way.
You are really interested in learning more about the characters, following their story and by the time you are watching the last episode, you really don’t want it to end. I personally felt like a part of the team at the end of it, like this were people I wouldn’t mind being stuck in a fantasy world with and slay hoards of monsters with.
Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo
After an untimely death, Kazuma Sato, a shut-in NEET, meets a goddess Aqua, who offers to reincarnate him in a new world, where he can live the MMORPG life of going on adventures, battling monsters and defeat the Devil King. He drags Aqua along with him against her wish, thinking she would be useful, but that idea is short-lived. They form a dysfunctional team of an explosion obsessed wizard and masochistic crusader
It’s a very good anime, part comedy and party fantasy, that will leave you laughing though out, around the end it gets a bit serious, and like in gaming fashion, a boss battle happens and you really enjoy the action and seriousness of the fight.
You really enjoy all the character quirky and wild character like;
Darkness is a crusader, whose a serious masochist, who if she has her way wants to be the tank of the party all the time, just so she can get her kicks😂😂😂, but that’s what she’s also really good for because she has zero accuracy so none of her good offensive attacks never connect.
Megumi is a wizard, who only uses one powerful spell that is very powerful but incapacitates her after one use. And she refuses to learn any other spell, so she can be useless too and loves food.
Aqua is a goddess and archpriest in the new world and first companion of our hero. Her magical offensive abilities are basically useless, only shining when fighting against demons, the undead and even resurrect fallen companions. She spends most of her skill points on party tricks. She finds it difficult saving money and is usually broke.
Kazuma Sato our main character who dies in a funny way and takes Aqua to this new world with him to punish her. And he’s not your usual shy MC, you would get in this situation, he can be very bold but sometimes become the shy MC, we are used to. And like he said he is an equalist, which means he is the type of guy who would hit a girl back if she hit him for no reason and he’s never holding back when punishing the girls when they do anything wrong. He chooses adventurer allowing him to learn various skills which he sometimes uses in pervy ways. He’s the one who can bring all of is crazy team members together and use them in a way, that the actual seem like good adventurers.
ReZero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu
Another main character appearing in another world, Subaru Natsuki coming out of a convenience store, suddenly finds himself in another world. Not knowing how he got here, he soon makes friend with a silver hair half-elf girl and her companion spirit Puck. Helping her look for her insignia that was stolen, when they are killed though, in their search for it, Subaru finds himself back at the beginning of his first day in the new world and realises he as an ability that reverses time when he dies. He uses this to protect himself, Emilia and all these new companions in this new world.
So expect to go on a roller coaster of adventures and when I first saw this anime, I was sceptical about it but it’s really worth the watch. Shows the measures the length a guy will go for a girl he loves and the people he takes dear and close to his heart. More of a serious tone, than comedy but it something you will love and won’t be able to wait till a third season comes out.
Terra Formars
In an attempt to colonize Mars, scientists are tasked with terraforming the planet. They decide to seed the planet with a modified algae that absorb sunlight and purifies the atmosphere and cockroaches, whose corpses spread algae across the planet as they feed.
After 500 years, the first manned ship to Mars lands and what the crew meet are giant mutated humanoid cockroaches with incredible physical strength and intelligence, they are killed by them, but not before they send a distress message warning earth. And this is where our story begins, turning humans to weapons by undergoing genetic modification with any organism to inherit their characteristics.

If you are a Starship Trooper fan, love space travel, transformations or battles with alien bugs, this is definitely for you and if you don’t it still as a lot to offer, like how a man handles issues with his cheating wife.
Tokyo Ghoul
It is a world, where ghouls (people who can only survive by eating human flesh) live among normal humans, hiding their true nature to evade from the authorities tasked with hunting them down. Ghouls have enhanced speed, senses, regenerative ability, strength, are resistance to ordinary weapons and special organs called kagune that can be brought out in combat, so expect so insane fight scenes.
The story follows Ken Kaneki, a college student who survives a Ghoul by the name Rize Kamishiro, who he asked out on a date. At the hospital he is taken to, he undergoes an organ transplant with Rize, turning to a half Ghoul. How does Kaneki handle this new life of being neither completely human or ghoul and the battle he faces against ghouls and the government authorities tasked with hunting ghouls. And how it changes him from a timid quiet boy to a complete badass.
Kizumonogatari
A high school student Koyomi Araragi, he befriends another student Tsubasa Hanekawa and she is an honour student. Tsubasa tells him about a rumour about a blonde vampire that has been sighted around their town recently. He encounters the rumoured vampire – kiss shot Acerola Orion Heart under the blade, in a pool of her own blood and all her four limbs cut off by three vampire hunters. He reluctantly at first ends up giving her his blood to save her, now he’s her vampire subordinate and he has to help her get all her limps back from the hunter, to restore her to full power and allow her to change him back to being human.
It’s actually a 3 parts movie, but it really good and worth the watch.
Sword of the Stranger
Another movie but a really good one and a really good sword fighting. Nanashi a nameless ronin, gets caught up in a struggle with swordsmen from the Ming Dynasty China when he agrees to take a boy Kotaro and his dog to a Buddhist temple. The reason behind the Ming swordsmen relentless pursuit unknown. A man haunted by memories of his past, which as made him avoid drawing his sword, will this be too much for him to handle.
When it was over I was kind of wishing there was a part two of this, just to see how the surviving characters were doing.
Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou
Thanks to his parents being transferred, Kazunari Usa a high school freshman, as to live on his own. His mother makes arrangements for him to stay at Kawai Complex, a boarding house that provides meals for its residents. Ritsu, a senior at his school that he likes also stays there with other weird and funny characters, like ;
Shirosaki – a novelist and masochistic and sometimes wiser than he looks, roommate.
Mayumi – a beautiful office lady who has terrible luck with men, drunk and a bit of a slob in the complex.
Sayaka – a sly and man monger college student, who likes to be the centre of attention and former country town trouble maker in her village.
Its never a dull moment in the Kawai Complex, as the series progresses we see Usa and Ritsu gradually become closer friends, it’s a really good slice of life, with lots of laughs, misunderstandings, tear, it ad that first love awkwardness you just love a, laugh and I really want a season two of this one so bad too.
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo
I watched this before Bokurawa Minna Kawaisou and it made me really love slice of life and so far I haven’t watched any anime to help me fill, this void this two anime as left.
Sakura Dormitory is a dorm of the high school affiliated with Suimei University of the Arts, it’s home to the strangest, most troublesome students. After being kick out of the normal dorm for keeping stray cats, Sorata Kanda moves into the Sakura Dormitory. As he gets used to living in the dorm, he meets a world-famous artist Mashiro Shiina, who cannot even take care of her daily life, moves in. Sorata is kept in charge of taking care of her. Its tells us about their daily lives as they grow mentally and learn that no one is truly a genius without putting in the work.
They are a lot of funny moments that will leave you, laughing like crazy, but there are still moments that really are emotional. It makes you go through a lot of the days of youth emotions. Then ends and you have grown attached to the characters, wondering how the future plays out for all of them and just wanting more.
Akame ga Kill
The story follows Tatsumi who is a young villager that travels with his friends to the capital, to raise money for his home only to discover a strong corruption there. He is recruited into Night Raid and they fight against the Empire to end the corruption.
It was really good but the manga had a better ending, but it’s definitely worth the watch.
Natsu no Taizai
The Seven Deadly Sins were an active group of knights in the region of Britannia, who disbanded after a plot to overthrow the Liones Kingdom. Their supposed defeat came at the hands of the Holy Knights. Ten years later, the Holy Knights stage a coup d’etat and capture the king. The third princess, Elizabeth, starts out on a journey to find the Seven Deadly Sins and enlist their help to save the kingdom.
The fights were great, some say it like Fairy Tale but I don’t agree with that, its in a category of its own. Everyone in the group is badass, but they are not overpowered to not find certain fights difficult and some times they are the one standing as obstacles to each other. So I recommend you watch it, you won’t be disappointed.
