Hello everyone and seasons greetings, it’s the end of the year and this is my second post and the last for the year of the 2018 OWLS Tour.
So am picking up from Scoot at MechanicalAnimeReviews.com. he wrote an amazing post and you should check it out on his take on miracles.
I hope to do better in this post than my last one, but bear with me am still getting better slowly, like an anime character’s progression we will be looking at this month for these months topic at OWLS.
“Miracles”
So the prompt said ;
Tis the season where miracles happen. For December’s theme, we will be exploring faith in
anime and pop culture. We will discuss some of the miracles that enter a character’s life during
their darkest moments. Some of their questions we will explore is how does a “miracle” change
a person’s life? How do we define miracles? Can miracles only happen due to a legend or a
mystical being? Or do miracles happen every day, but we just don’t see it? We hope that you
enjoy this holiday season! Happy Holidays! – the OWLS Team <3
So I really struggled with what to write on but it finally came to me.
Naruto Shippuden: Power Episode 290-295. It was a great arc from beginning to end, and there really was a moment of miracle in these episode.
I really liked this Arc, the animation was movie like, and it had a pretty good story. There were rumors I heard that it was supposed to be a movie, but it was decided to be made into a filler arc for whatever reason. This is why it looks and feels a lot more like a movie than a filler.
As usual Naruto found away to over come the huddles that was placed for him, with the help of the people around him.
And this episode was special because he created a miracle for 5 orphan children and a frightful man.
Brief Summary of this Arc
Naruto and his team are assigned a mission to find and hunt down the perpetrator of the Tonika Village massacre. It’s been a while since Naruto has had a mission, and he’s pumped to take it on.
While investigating the village near Tonika, they split up into two-man teams, with Yamato and Sai encountering officers from the neighbouring village.
While Sakura and Naruto meet Kabuto. An epic battle erupts as Kabuto uses the forbidden Reanimation Jutsu against them. In the meantime, Dokku and the five survivors lay low at the village and are later found after the fighting ends.
Naruto and Sakura decide to stay at Shiseru’s (one of the officers Yamato and Sai encountered)house overnight to help watch over the survivors. Although the children cry and miss their deceased parents, Dokku and Shiseru try hard to bring everyone together as a new family.
A clone possessing the Nine Tails’ chakra emerges from Naruto’s body. Seeking more power, the clone goes on a rampage, destroying everything in its path.
After their defeat by the Nine Tails’ clone, Naruto and Dokku are taken captive by Kabuto.
The legendary Ama no Hoko imbues the Nine Tails’ clone with enough power to destroy the world. Naruto is overcome by its immense power and lies unconscious.
What I felt and translated from this Arc
A lot happens after this but the moment that really leaves an impression with me was the moment where;
Dokku and Shiseru decide to deactivate the Ama no Hoko and say good-bye to the children. On their way there, they confess their love for each other and decide to get married if they survive before portions of the ground start to sink, with Dokku keeping Shiseru from falling.
Shiseru lets go of Dokku hand ready to sacrifice her so they can deactivate the Ama no Hoko. It was a really sad moment cause we were let to really know this characters with flashbacks and dialogues.
But as we watched her slowly fall to her demise, Miina one of the orphan children is able to get through to Naruto, regaining control as he assumed a new form to save Shiseru and telling Dokku to go forward and stop the Ama no Hoko.
That moment was truly a miracle not brought about by some legend or mysterious being but from hard work, perseverance and people’s want of peace, happiness and a place the can call home.
Thank you for reading this to the end. Next on our blog tour is Flow from denofnyanpasu, which will be amazing so lookout for that tomorrow.
