Is Invincible worth watching? Season 1 of Invincible is a show when I first saw the trailer for, I wasn’t completely hooked on it but was interested to see its take on heroes. Mainly because I am a sucker for coming-of-age stories, action, and the 2000s animated style I got from it.
Based on the 2003 Invincible comics by Robert Kirkman, The TV series has gotten a lot of popularity, becoming a modern superhero icon with all the memes, clips, and reviews. After watching the series I wanted to share my thoughts of the series, and though late to the party I finally got around to writing it out.

Plot Summary
The series follows Mark Grayson/Invincible, a 17-year-old teen that has just gained superpowers and hopes to live up to the legend of his dad Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man (the greatest superhero on earth—according to him). We follow his struggles to learn his newfound abilities, make tough decisions, an awkward love triangle and all the realism of an actual hero living in a world like ours.
What did I think?
Invincible is one of the year’s most surprising and best superhero series. Fair warning if you haven’t seen it yet it’s quite dark and gory sometimes, definitely not an animated series for kids, but in the shows defense isn’t that how realistic superhero shows should be? (i.e. made for adult audiences is what I mean by my argument)
Kirkman comics are always interesting and Invincible is not an exception, it merges various plot elements that we have seen time and gain from series in its genre but it works. That is probably the reason it’s so highly praised.
STORY
Invincible is a properly written series that, as I said earlier, mixes a lot of superhero tropes that we have seen repeatedly but strangely enough works, I wasn’t tired of seeing again this time around in Invincible.
The series was well written, with its mature modern take on superheroes and what family is. It strikes a perfect balance between comedy and some really emotional scenes and with great moral thoughts kept into the series. Invincible really seemed to tell a lot, maybe because it was animated so they could explore a lot more with the characters.
Invincible is an excellent series to recommend to someone who’s not really into the superhero genre but loves action and a show that can build tension. Invincible knows just how to keep you invested in the mysteries and the characters in the story.
Watching the series you can see a lot of thought and effort was kept into the plot and lore of the world. Though at first glance Invincible looks like a parody of different shows, the series has a way of painting scenarios as gray, that you can’t always easily categorize characters as good or bad, because there is usually a reasonable reason they do what they do.
CHARACTER
The protagonist and other characters of Invincible are very likable. To the point, I care about them, their hopes, their dreams, where they are going, and where they are coming from. The characters know how to build off each other, easily creating tension and making a plot premise that isn’t completely new, very refreshing to watch.
Watching Mark, an awkward teenager with superpowers, try to navigate and balance everything was interesting, especially his relationship with Amber and his kind of love interest Eve. And his interactions with his family, friends, and fellow heroes.
Character development wasn’t for only our protagonist though we get to see Eve and other heroes develop too. But Eve finding her own way was great to see. They really fleshed every character out and we got to see what makes them how they are.
There are many interesting layers to the cast of characters that was probably why there were so many A-lists lending their voice to the series. Every character served a purpose for the progression of the plot. I ended up leaving the Invincible TV series interested in seeing how each character’s story would go.
Animation
The animation quality for Invincible was great. It reminded me of early Saturday morning cartoons. They well-designed characters so that it was easy to differentiate them from one another. They also choreographed fight scenes well, so that everything felt believable.
I also want to mention character design again, their design fits perfectly with the characters they are supposed to portray well. The world was so well done and felt very lived in. I really loved seeing the outer-space worlds, nature, and other fictional places, even glimpses of them.
Sound
The sound and music are really wonderful. And it really helps in complementing the narrative and building tension. None of the sounds felt misplaced, and they knew the right time to add music to set the mood for some fight scenes, reveals, or coming of age scenes that made the experience more fleshed-out.
Episode 2of Invincible. We got to see another side of Omni-Man and it was fun to watch.
Least favorite moment?
There were some but if I have to narrow them down, it would have to be between two. Probably because everything that could go wrong, did go wrong in these scenes.

Battle Beast and Omni-Man are pretty cool but I would have to pick?
Rex Splode
Rex is pretty unfiltered, lazy, and funny but there is more to him than what you see at first glance. Even though he acts like he doesn’t care, he cares a lot for his teammates and those around him, but he can be very self-sabotaging and immature sometimes.
Art Rosenbaum
Art is someone that seems like he would have a lot of interesting stories to tell. Plus, he’s like Iron Man just without the cool suit.
Least favorite character?
Titan
He is pretty cool but don’t like the way he does things.
What did I learn?
What I learned from Invincible;
You don’t have to be the best version of anyone but yourself.
Believe in yourself.
Good friends and family are scarce so don’t mess it up if you have them.
Doing the right thing is not always easy and can be scary sometimes.
Once you know you have done the best you can at your current abilities don’t dwell on the negatives except if it’s to improve yourself apart from that don’t get depressed, “they did not build Roman in a day”.
Would I watch more?
YES!!!!! Invincible is an interesting series, with a lot of superhero tropes we have seen before but still done well, going further than most to explore what it really means to be a hero. I would definitely love to watch another season to see how everyone’s story goes.
Invincible is worth watching and always recommending to fans of the superhero genre, new beginners in the genre, or anyone really, as long as they don’t mind some really gory scenes.
When is Invincible Season 2 Release Date?
As of now, there is no official release date mentioned from any of the staff or studio. But, we know they have renewed Invincible for seasons 2 and 3. Animation production takes longer, but with proper funding and more staff maybe we could see it back as early as next year.
Also, Robert Kirkman has talked about the series running for a decade with plenty of comic material to adapt.
Oh, I didn’t get to talk about Cecil Stedman (right) but he’s pretty cool too.

Kemono Jihen is a detective manga that handles character development and design well. None of the characters seemed like an afterthought and their unique designs and personalities help make them recognizable. Detective manga readers who love supernatural elements, especially urban myths should definitely give Kemono Jihen a try.

Keishichou Tokuhanka 007 is definitely a detective manga that seems to be made especially for fans of the genre that also want shoujo with their mystery. Overall, it was a really enjoyable manga that took a little getting used to for me, but it was a good read after a few chapters.

What do you get when you add a bunch of kids and mysteries? Detective School Q! It is a series that knows exactly what it is and runs with it, no action or unnecessary ecchi scenes, just good old fashion brainpower. It is a must-read for detective manga fans.
Plot Summary
Detective School Q is the story of a group of young students from Class Q of Dan Detective School (DDS), a renowned detective academy founded by Morihiko Dan, the most famous detective in Japan, and the adventures and mysteries they unfold and solve together. They eventually work against Pluto, a mysterious organization which creates almost fool-proof plans that only a handful of detectives can solve.
If you have already watched Detective School Q the anime, you should know how unique and well-written the story is. It is a detective manga series with a bit for everyone even if you aren’t a detective genre fan the story keeps you well entertained.
Arisa is a mystery manga that I like to think of like a detective manga that got my attention after seeing various recommendations of it online. It feels very tele novella like sometimes because of its plot twists. Which felt like a change of pace to what I am used to reading.
Plot Summary
Tsubasa and Arisa are twin sisters who haven’t seen each other for three years because of their parents’ divorce. They have communicated through letters, but finally decide to meet each other again. Arisa, the more gentle of the twins, suggests that Tsubasa take her place at school for a day, just for fun. However, there are things about Arisa and her school that she hasn’t mentioned to Tsubasa — dangerous things.
Arisa is a detective manga for fans of mystery, shoujo, and psychological thrillers that balances the lighter tone and darker tones of the series amazingly well. It is a detective manga for the little girl manga reader in all of us.

As a detective manga, Bungo Stray Dogs has captured a spot in many readers’ top 10, even fans that are not fans of the detective manga series, find it has a lot of potentials. Even if you don’t find it exceptional, it definitely has a lot going on to at the least be a good time-passer.

For avid fans of detective manga and Sherlock Holmes fans, Moriarty the Patriot is definitely a breath of fresh air. The art is good, characters feel genuinely real. I grew attached to some of them and with a series usually focused on seriousness, there was humor now and then. Try it.

Book Girl and the Suicidal Mime is a beautiful and well-written detective manga series by Mizuki Nomura. The series felt reminiscent of Spice and Wolf or Your lie in April, calm and sweet even though it could be dark and depressing sometimes.

However, Nii frowns upon the excesses of gal style, so Ririko has to quickly transform herself into a demure uni student each time she sees him.
Kechonpa may seem unusual at first glance for a detective manga, but it’s definitely worth your time. It had a lot of josei-style comedy that I thought was a delightful change of pace, double identities, and the plot interestingly combined fashion and detective themes.
Usotoki Rhetoric is a manga that has a lot to offer detective mystery lovers and historical-based manga readers with its nicely flowing slow-burn plot.
Plot Summary
Sixteen-year-old Kanoko Urabe knows that someone is lying if she can hear the strange, echoing sound of clanging metal in their voice. As a young and overly honest child, she would point out the lies of other villagers, and was ostracized as a result. In a chance encounter, Kanoko meets Souma Iwai, a gifted but penniless detective. After she is forced to demonstrate her ability, he expresses appreciation for what she can do and agrees to take her in, asking the girl to be his assistant.

Every theme or troupe didn’t feel forced, Ms. Rinna’s Lovesickness! is a quick short, and fun read. Try this especially for newbie detective readers or veterans of the genre looking for a fun little read.

So, what’s a brilliant young girl to do when her parents are away in India, leaving her behind in the care of maids and servants? Solve mysteries, of course.
Young Miss Holmes is a manga series I would recommend especially for readers who love Detective Conan and want to see a young blonde female lead with amazing problem-solving skills and a lot of mysteries.
11. Gosick

Gosick is another detective manga series I love reading and favorite of a lot of old readers of this genre. The two protagonists’ chemistry really gives me a Sherlock and Watson vibe that just feels so natural and not forced at all.

Kujo Kazuya is studying abroad in Sovuria (a fictional country in Europe), where he meets the mysterious Victorique. Possessing a brilliant mind, which she calls “fountain of wisdom,” she seems to know everything, although she never attends classes and is restricted to her room and the school’s library.
Gosick is a detective manga series for readers that love characters that feel real, suspense, and complex cases that will have you guessing. If you are really into mysteries and haven’t read this yet, try it.
10. Mystery for My Dear A

Hoping to bring her back to reality, Ayano’s mother sends her to Noumi Takayuki, a onetime author who now works as a consulting detective. As Takayuki’s assistant, will Ayano find a reason to love the world around her? And will she be able to help Takayuki fight his inner sorrows?
Mystery for My Dear A is a detective manga that shows the mangaka love for books through its lots and lots of book references and with an easily relatable main protagonist there is a lot to love about this manga series, even though it feels rushed at some points.
9. Brutal: Confessions of a Homicide Investigator

Brutal: Confessions of a Homicide Investigator is an unusual detective manga series that reminded me of Dexter (TV series) when I started reading it. Topics covered can be quite heavy but there is a lot of comedic relief from our protagonist.
Plot Summary
Handsome, successful, and talented, detective Hiroki Dan has it all. Each investigation solved is another good deed to add to his pile of closed cases. However, while his work is fulfilling, there are still times when he becomes frustrated; the police are helpless when vile people are beyond the reach of the law. It is for this very reason that Hiroki takes matters into his own hands.
While Brutal: Confessions of a Homicide Investigator might not be a well-known detective manga it is still a very good one, that really made me question my opinions of right and wrong. It’s gory and spine-chillingly worth wasting your time on.
Bloody Monday is a manga series with a lot of plot twists, suspense, and exaggerated heroes. That tries to take a more down-to-earth approach to tell its story.
Plot Summary
When a KGB agent is murdered in Japan, the only clue to his death is a memory chip found at the scene of the crime. Fujimaru is recruited by Third-I to decode the chip, which contains a video file of an event called the “Christmas Massacre.” Investigating the incident further, Fujimaru’s father uncovers more information about the homicide and a mysterious code, “Bloody Monday,” before being framed for the murder of his superior. Now, it is up to the hacker Fujimaru to utilize his expertise to help Third-I prevent the spread of terror and destruction in Japan, while attempting to clear his father’s name.
Bloody Monday is a series that is meant for detective manga readers that love the idea of hacking and is good enough to keep you just interested enough to see where the story is heading. It would be nice to see it as an anime someday, maybe.
7. Neuro: Supernatural Detective

The Demon Neuro has a raging hunger for “enigmas.” Being dissatisfied with his current regime in hell, he comes to the mortal realm in order to satiate his ever-growing appetite. The murder case of a young girl’s father seems to be sufficiently enticing for the Demon’s needs… But what else might happen between these two?
Neuro: Supernatural Detective is a pleasant story to read regardless if you are not looking for anything I mentioned above. It has a lot of elements added into it but the series prominent one is the psychological theme, figuring out the motivations behind the crime.

Narumi is an assistant to detective Alice, a NEET teenage girl who stays in her pajamas and operates within her bedroom. She uses her vast network of people and the internet to solve cases. Will Alice be able to solve them in her PJs?
Heaven’s Memo Pad is a series with some dark themes and starts slow but picks up if you stick it out, becoming more entertaining and charming. It’s a series that made me try to figure out the who, what, why, when, and how.

Gesicht uncovers evidence of a mysterious entity known only as “Pluto.” Along with this, he learns of a plot to dismantle the eight specialized robots from around the world who took part in the war. Racing against time to save those who remain, Gesicht grapples with his memory, morality, and a world full of hate, desperately attempting to defend the fragile coexistence of man and machine.
Pluto: Urasawa x Tezuka is a manga series with plenty of well-done cliffhangers and a great future-retro setting I would love to live in. It’s a masterpiece.
The Kindaichi Case Files is a classic detective murder mystery manga, with a lot of misdirection and red herrings that keep you guessing and turning page after page.
Plot Summary
Kindaichi and his best-bud, Miyuki travels to various places where a murder has taken place, typically involving ghosts, curses, myths and folklore of significant events from the distant past, and solves the mystery using ingenious deductions of curious clues and his cool magic.
The Kindaichi Case Files is a brilliant series and I highly recommend it to detective manga fans that love locked-room murder mysteries.

Death Note is a series with a lot of hype about it, it is a perfect detective manga of suspense and thriller. And I am sure a lot of you have read it by now or heard about it.
Plot Summary
Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects–and he’s bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer. With L hot on his heels, will Light lose sight of his noble goal… or his life?
Death Note is a detective series anyone can enjoy and should always be in your first recommendations for people not familiar with the genre. It is a series that had me guessing till the very end and rooting for our evil protagonist at the very end.

At number 2 is Monster, an intense and well-written page-turner manga that is also well known and well-liked by fans of the detective manga genre.
Plot Summary
Kenzou Tenma, a renowned Japanese neurosurgeon working in post-war Germany, faces a difficult choice: to operate on Johan Liebert, an orphan boy on the verge of death, or on the mayor of Düsseldorf. In the end, Tenma decides to gamble his reputation by saving Johan, effectively leaving the mayor for dead. Nine years later, Tenma is the head of the surgical department and close to becoming the director himself. Soon he becomes entangled in a chain of gruesome murders that have taken place throughout Germany. The culprit is a monster—the same one that Tenma saved on that fateful day nine years ago.
Monster is one of the best psychological thrillers with an intelligent plot and unpredictable plot twists, memorable and deep characters. It is a manga series I recommend you finally find time to read.
Case Closed, or Detective Conan is a detective manga that has really grown on me and many readers. It’s a manga every fan of the genre should read even a bit of.
Plot Summary
Kudo Shinichi is a high school detective who was poisoned during a confrontation with suspicious criminals, and was transformed to look like a child! Now he staying with the Mouri family and secretly continuing to solve cases while investigating the organization who put him in this situation. Hailed as the savior of the Japanese Police Department, he uses a combination of observational skills, critical thinking, and all-around knowledge to solve cases that leave the police stumped.
Detective Conan is a series I feel that really knows how to balance out the funny hilarious moments with the seriousness of the manga. And I like how for me I can leave it for a while and jump right into a new chapter again with a new case and be able to still follow the plot easily without having to back track.

There has been controversies about the ship regarding Rachel and Zack’s age gap (~7 years, Rachel is 13 and Zack is assumed to be about 20), particularly when the ship is shipped romantically or even just platonically. Most fans compensate by aging up the characters in fanworks to prevent arguments or drama.
I’ve mentioned this before regarding Zack and Rachel’s relationship but I feel this needs repeating. As for now, where their relationship is, is strictly platonic. Do I ship them? Heck yes, I do. BUT ONLY after they’ve both grown up. I don’t see it as grooming either since anything romantic is the furthest things from BOTH of their minds. They’ve been dealt a hard hand at life and only know survival. They would both need therapy and serious help but I do believe that these two help each other and have that trust there that could make a beautiful relationship.
For context, the husband and I are also 7 years apart. So the age difference definitely could work. But not yet. That’s why fanfictions almost always show an aged up version, which is good. If she was still 13, it would be weird. But Zack doesn’t show interest of any kind to her then. We can see that there’s the POTENTIAL for it to grow into something more as they age, which is totally fine.
Rachel is the first person that Zack has come to trust and he is the first person to see and accept the darker parts of her. They both have to come to terms with their past and who they are. They would make a cute couple and it’s an anime anyway.
From the onset of this anime, Rachel and Zack bind themselves with a promise. If she helps him get out of the building, then he has to kill her, but Zack has a stipulation of his own. Rachel’s eyes need to change, or in a sense, become more human before he’ll take her life.
This promise between them becomes the sole purpose of their goals. Rachel seeks constant affirmation that Zack is going to hold to the promise and stay by her side until their time of reckoning comes. She does this by asking if she’s been useful to him each time they struggle through an obstacle.
Once they make it to Eddie’s floor, they find a grave that’s been specifically prepared for Rachel. It’s the largest in the plot, and seeing it instantly pisses off Zack to the point where he wants to destroy it. Rachel stops him, feeling sentimental about the resting place that’s been thoroughly prepared for her benefit.
It’s one of the first gestures from Zack that shows that he cares about Rachel’s words. Up to this point, he’s been rude towards her and could care less about what she wishes, but he concedes on this point. He even fondly touches the headstone with his hand for a brief moment.
His emotions come across even more so when Zack shoots himself in the arm with both of the drugs Cathy provides. In the wake of him losing his mind, Rachel is able to find a bit of clarity wherein Zack tells her not to let him kill her just yet. Even though he speaks harshly, Zack continues to protect Rachel from harm as much as possible.
At this moment, Cathy has pitted Zack and Rachel against each other where only one of them will survive. Zack decides that he will not be used as a tool and slices himself with his scythe. This speaks to Zack’s intrinsic desire to protect Rachel in dangerous situations. When she proposes a harmful solution to any of their obstacles, Zack takes it upon himself to gain control of the situation, so that the danger passes. It shows that he cares more than he lets on.
As they search for their final destination, Zack gifts Rachel his most precious knife. When breaking through iron bars, Zack loses his strength of will while Rachel resolves to get the bars open no matter what. When Zack notices that she’s trying to do so with the knife he gave her, he brings her up short.
He mentions that she’s the first person he’s ever given anything to and that it’s not for keeps, but so that she could keep herself safe. If this doesn’t scream love and care for Rachel’s well-being, then we don’t know what does.
So could they/should they be in a relationship? Only after they’ve grown more. But yes. Right now it’s more of a best friend type of thing. I for one will keep reading the aged up fanfictions and shipping them always.

Goat Island Arc (Episode 136-138)
The Goat Island Arc is 3 episodes long and happens right after the Post-Alabasta Arc. The Straw Hat Crew comes across an island inhabited by an old man and his goats while hiding from Marine ships. They play various games with the old man, losing and winning back their belongings from him.
Rainbow Mist arc (Episodes 139-143)
The Rainbow Mist arc is 5 episodes long and begins with Luffy and the rest of the Going Merry crew being chased by Marines. Ending up on Ruluka island, where an old pirate turned dictator is placing heavy taxes on the citizens to help to construct the Rainbow Tower.
G-8 Arc (Episode 196–206)
The G-8 Arc comes after the Sky Island Saga and is 11 episodes long. After the Straw Hat crew return from Sky land instead of returning back to the sea, they land in a heavily fortified Marine base. From here their story begins to reclaim their ship and escape.
Ocean Dream Arc (Episode 220–224)
The Ocean’s Dream Arc is 5 episodes and is based on the One Piece Playstation video game of the same name. Everyone on the ship, except for Robin, loses their memory, there is a fight between Luffy and Zoro and a mysterious boy is responsible for it all.
This filler is 1 episode long and sees Foxy, Porche and Hamburg return aboard the Going Merry till they find their ship.
Ice Hunter Arc (Episode 326-335)
The Ice Hunter Arc is a 10 episode filler that takes place on Ice Island. The Accino Family are a family of bounty hunters, who want to collect the bounties on the Straw Hat pirates heads and have set a trap to capture them.
Spa Island Arc (Episode 382-384)
The Spa Island Arc is 3 episodes long and sees the Straw Hat crew help two sisters finish their father’s research. There is also a lot of spa fan service in this episode because what anime is truly complete without one.
Little East Blue Arc (Episode 426-429)
The Little East Blue Arc is a 4 episode arc meant to tie into the One Piece Film: Strong World. The Straw Hat crew reach an island that is pretty much a replica of East Blue, where many of them are from and help stop the evil Largo and Amigo Pirates ambitious plans.
Z’s Ambition Arc (Episode 575-578)
Z’s Ambition Arc is a 4 episode arc that occurs after the time skip and is a prologue to the film, One Piece Film: Z. Luffy and his crew are in the New World, where they help the daughter of an innocent man free her father from Vice-admiral Momomga.
Ceasar Retrieval Arc (Episode 626-628)
This arc is 3 episodes long and takes place following the defeat of Caesar Clown and his capture to be used to defeat Doflamigo and Kaido. In this filler arc, a mysterious person kidnaps Caesar and now Luffy and Law try to get him back.
Silver Mine Arc (Episode 747-750)
The Silver Mine Arc is another filler arc with 4 episodes and takes place as a set up for the One Piece Film: Gold. Luffy meets Bartolomeo again when they are kidnapped by the Silver Mine Alliance. Now they must fight their way through the mine to escape.
Marine Rookie Arc (Episode 780-782)
The Marine Rookie Arc takes place before the Cake Island arc and is 3 episodes. After Luffy eats all the food supplies that the Sanji Retrieval Team had and is close to starving, they decide to break into a Marine base to restock their food supply.
Cidre Guild Arc (Episodes 895-896)
Cidre Guild Arc is a 2 episodes filler and is a tie-in to the One Piece: Stampede film. When the Thousand Sunny needs colas to reach Wano, Luffy goes to get some at the Cidre Guild run by a group of bounty hunters. He runs into Boa Hancock on his way there and the two face off against the bounty hunters.
Wano Country Arc (Episode 907)
The Wano Country Arc currently has only 1 filler episode and retells Luffy’s pirate adventure with some changes. Like Luffy being inspired to become a pirate by his grandfather, who is a pirate himself rather than a marine.
Why One Piece Filler Episodes are Worth Watching?
Maybe it’s the completionist in me but I feel you miss out a bit on what One Piece is about when you skip these episodes, it is about the journey. One Piece is an adventure story filled with a lot of action, but it’s also one of the best comedy anime and I think it’s in the fillers that the Straw Hat Pirates really find themselves in really hilarious situations.
The filler episodes are definitely not boring and with One Piece already so far along, does taking time to watch these episodes really make any difference in your catching up to where the series is currently at. Also, the One Piece filler episodes are actually just 10% of the whole series.

Wakfu is a anime-influenced French animated television series produced by Ankama Animation, based on the video game Wakfu. It’s not the first game to become an anime. Angels of Death also did this as well as IB and a few others.
The plot of Wakfu revolves around a 12-year-old boy Yugo. He goes in search of his real parents along with his friends. The group is commonly known as “The Brotherhood of the Tofu.” The search starts following a mysterious man leaves him with a villager at a very early age. Although, at the age of 12, Yugo realizes that he is not only on a mission to find his parents but also to free the world of evil. The fans are expecting more episodes to get the answers to the unsolved mysteries.
When I heard about Wakfu I thought it’d be underwhelming. I mean, a french anime based off of a game? Boy was I wrong. The animation in this series is absolutely gorgeous and fresh. To my knowledge it was animated in flash which earns it points in my book because flash is quite hard to work with sometimes. Especially for large projects like this one. If you’re bored and looking for an interesting anime to watch I’d HIGHLY recommend this series. Although, be warned. By the end you’ll find yourself begging for more and at a loss as to what to do next.
Season 4 Coming?
Wakfu has released three successful seasons so far. And now, the fans are awaiting a new season featuring the unanswered questions as well as the cliffhangers. Is Wakfu renewed for another season? If so, when will it release?
On May 7, 2020, Ankama announced that season 4, intended as the final chapter of the story, is currently in development and a Kickstarter campaign to fund its production was launched on June 8, 2020.
Ankama said this in their announcement…
“The production of an animated series depends directly on its financing. Each episode costs hundreds of thousands of euros, and producing a complete season takes several years, during which time we need to pay the artists’ salaries, the utility bills and lots of other expenses, even while the series itself isn’t generating any income.
This is why a series can only be produced with the help of one or more distributors who, beyond merely taking interest in a project, commit to supporting the creation of the series all the way through to broadcast, ensuring that it reaches its target audience.
Unfortunately, WAKFU’s evolution toward more mature themes has been an obstacle to this process so far. We still haven’t managed to convince the distributors to help us with this project, although we’re continuing our talks with them!
We’ve got one card left up our sleeve: funding the creation of season 4 ourselves, with your help. And who knows? Maybe proving our shared passion for this new chapter will be enough to convince one or more distributors!
So let’s do this, everyone! Let’s create the next chapter in the epic tale of the Brotherhood of the Tofu together! “
Yugo is the main protagonist of the Wakfu. He is a good-natured 12-year-old- Eliatrope and a brother of dragon Adamaï. As an Eliatrope, Yugo is capable of creating portals that he can use to transport himself or other objects across short distances. He seems to be intimately connected to the world’s history. Adventurous and kind-hearted almost to a fault, Yugo’s quest to find out what happened to his people starts off the plot.
He’s cute and one of my favorite characters. In one episode when Vampyro tries to take his soul, they can’t because he’s too pure. And I believe it. He is a precious sunshine child and we need to protect him!
Amalia Sheran Sharm
Amalia Sheran Sharm (or Amalia for short) is one of the main characters of the Wakfu. She is the princess of the Sadida Kingdom, but isn’t terribly fond of her royal duties and would much rather go out adventuring, often dragging a bemused Evangelyne in tow. Tagging along with Yugo mostly on a whim, she sometimes comes off as sheltered and immature, but won’t hesitate to take responsibility when necessary.
She does annoy me at times with her selfishness and can be a bit obnoxious but later seasons have seen her improve.
Sir Percedal of Sadlygrove
Sir Percedal of Sadlygrove (called Tristepin de Percedal in French dub) or Dally for short, is one of the main characters of the Wakfu. He is a 16-year-old Iop who shows that he has strength rather than smarts. An Iop and Shushu Guardian, Percedal first encountered Yugo while being possessed by the Shushu he was supposed to guard; after Yugo smacked him out of it, Percedal swore a debt to him. He’s a talented swordsman and a loyal ally, but he’s also impulsive and sometimes arrogant, which often gets him into trouble.
Rubilax
Rubilax is a major Shushu (a demon imprisoned in an object) imprisoned in a sword and is guarded by Percedal.
Ruel Stroud
Ruel Stroud is one of the main characters of the Wakfu. As an Enutrof and old friend of Yugo’s adoptive father, Alibert, Ruel was told to set off with Yugo and keep him safe. Like most Enutrofs, getting Ruel to do anything that’s not in his own interest is an uphill battle, and his selfishness and greed often get him distracted. However, he’s a seasoned fighter, and his knowledge of the world and its history is considerable.
He is often “comedic” relief and his friends can get him to do things by using kamas or one gold piece.
Evangelyne
Evangelyne(or Eva) is one of the main characters of the Wakfu. As Amalia’s long-suffering Cra bodyguard and best friend, Evangelyne initially follows Yugo out of concern for Amalia, but soon becomes attached to the others as well. By far the most level-headed of the group, Eva helps keep her somewhat flighty compatriots grounded, and her archery is a force to be reckoned with.
Next to Yugo, she’s my favorite character. She doesn’t annoy me as much and her character design is awesome!
So yeah, it’s a great and cute show. There are some darker themes added and real emotions that will make you addicted and want to binge watch this.

Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR! Welcome to my post reviewing Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions, a post I have wanted to talk about for some time. So as the year has come to an end, and we start a new one. There is no better time to dust this anime off my shelf, rewatch it, review it and get anyone who hasn’t seen it yet to give it a try.

Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions (Hai to Gensou no Grimgar)

Summary
When Haruhito awakens, he’s in the dark. He doesn’t know where he is, why is he here, and where he came from. Around him there are several other men and women who have the same problem. Together, they advance forward away from the darkness, and a world they’ve never seen before called “Grimgar” spreads out before them.
With no memory of how they got here and with only a fleeting memory of their names, these adventurers have to fend off all sorts of creatures. In this new world, the adventurers find that there’s only one rule – kill or be killed. Memories, money, special powers — this is the reality we who have none of those things have obtained.
What did I think?
Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions (or Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash), Japanese title “Hai to Gensou no Grimgar” is a rather unique take on the MMO isekai genre, taking a much more slower and measured pace than the usual fast paced action-focused elements the genre is usually known for.
Grimgar to me felt more like a ‘Slice of Life’ fantasy adventure. Focusing heavily on character personalities, drama, tender scenes, moments of valor and friendship. And that’s truly where Grimgar shines the most the feeling of comradery among the characters.
It takes a more realistic approach to people being unnatural inhabitants in a world that takes its self for granted, being very unforgiving if taken lightly, with no memory of their former world they fight to survive and succeed in their new one and coupled with the beautiful watercolour art, it makes for a refreshing change of pace from other isekai.
Overall the series is a very compelling and unique adventure. Grimgar is an anime that needs some time to build off its weak start than your average fantasy series, but the show feels more fully realized and emotionally fulfilling for it.
STORY
Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions or Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash (Hai to Gensou no Grimgar) is an anime based on the light-novel series written by Ao Jyumonji and illustrated by Eiri Shirai. Grimgar’s main theme to me was realism, with dialogue-less moments, where sometimes music was used to express the narrative and character development.
Grimgar is a slow-burning, and surprisingly thoughtful anime even though we are not given much explanation as to where they actually came from, and what they are doing in Grimgar. It’s an anime that feels more like a slice-of-life than a regular old isekai, with the way it handled things like deaths, teamwork, life and character development.
This might be in part to Ryosuke Nakamura, the director who is most known for slice of life shows and not action-adventure shows. Players don’t respawn if they die, monsters don’t just disappear once defeated leaving loot behind and NPCs don’t teach new skills or craft for you at the click of a button.
Looking at “What if this was reality?” where you choose a class, join the respective guilds for them, kill monsters and sell their parts or loot for money, an MMO world without all the conveniences but all the consequences.
I love how they gave us these characters that feel like real human people, that we get to see manage basic needs, such as food and shelter. Seeing their individual daily lives and interactions and moments that feel real and necessary for the plot and characters. Balancing wonderfully realism and narrative focus, to create a series that though progression can be slow, watching the growth of the group and the developing of bonds make it worth the watch.
CHARACTER
Grimgar takes the emotional lives and development of its characters seriously, and is much richer for it. Showing real friction between members and uncomfortable conversations. I love how real and relatable the characters are.
Some characters establish their own identity and tone immediately, while others became clearer as the story developed more. Their reactions to waking up in a strange world, with strange rules, where they are expected to fight monsters, gain loot, level up and knowing but not knowing they had left one world for this one felt real.
And they were not overpowered characters who could take on a hoard of monsters. Their party lacked skills, had no experience, and even dealing with the lowest level monsters, goblins was first really impossible for them. They lived each day as it came.
The characters are all so lovable I would have loved being part of their party and exploring the world of Grimgar with Haruhiro, Ranta, Manato, Shihoru, Moguzo, Yume and Merry.
ART
Grimgar’s art was dazzling with animation that’s definitely above the usual anime offering, with beautiful watercolour backgrounds, atmospheric lighting effects and amazing character designs. The scenery was just so beautiful and complemented the story, always helping create the desired mood of the moment. It was a world I wanted to explore more of from its city life to its dungeons.
Sound
The soundtracks set the mood flawlessly and with great consistency, that resonated with me and sometimes hit close to home. And like the art really helped set the mood and help with story development, where words would fail.

I honestly have a lot of favourite moments from Grimgar, like when they raided a goblin hideout, when the party would sit and eat together, quiet regular day moments the list could go on.
One will have to be; Episode 5 of Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions. It was realistic in how it handled an issue, letting us know it was ok to not be ok. While still also making laugh after it all.
Another would be Ranta and Haruhiro dynamic, the others interactions were great too but I liked how their relationship was like Yin and Yang. They both never really could agree on anything but they work well together.
Least favourite moment?
Episode 4of Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions. It was an episode that really reminded me to let the people you love know how much you love them.
Favourite character?
Ranta
Even though he can be difficult and he tries to act tough, Ranta’s a softie, he cares about his party, providing the extreme perspective they need sometimes and is willing to dive into the thick of battle to help protect the others. He’s not perfect but he does have redeeming qualities that he tries, I think in his own way to use to make up for them.
Least favourite character?

What I learnt?
I learnt a lot from Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions, like;
it was ok not to be ok, being ok takes time and it’s not just with a snap of your fingers. But it was something that happened by taking it a day at a time.
Things won’t always go your way but you can learn to learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward.

Would I watch more?
YES! Grimgar lived up to its bright potential, making it reminiscent of an old D&D game. Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions is a unique Isekai anime, that shows deep relationships, wonderful character design, unique animation and amazing music.
Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions will resonate with and sometimes hit close to home. All the while taking you on an amazing adventure of a zero to hero story.

When is Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions Season 2 Release Date?
Grimgar Ashes and Illusions season 1 premiered on January 11, 2016, and the season finale was aired on March 28, 2016. With a Season 1 special that aired, on March 16, 2016, much to all of us delight.
But since then nothing. But there is still hope, anime shows often have gaps of years between them sometimes. Our best guess is that Grimgar Ashes and Illusions season 2 release date could fall sometime in 2021 or 2022.
Is Solo Leveling insanely good? I recently decided to start trying to read more manhwa again and I have been really enjoying myself getting immersed in the worlds and the characters. There is definitely a different feel of reading it than watching it in its anime form.
Solo Leveling has been bookmarked in my to-read list for a while now and with my younger brother’s constant recommendation of it, I decided to crack it open and give it a try. And see if Solo Leveling is worth all the hype about it.

I saw this manhwa in 2019, the summary and art definitely caught my attention so I bookmarked it and it’s been sitting quietly in my to-read list since then, till now…
What did I think?
Solo Leveling is definitely different from what I am used to reading (Japanese manga black and white) it’s a Korean Manhwa that all its scenes are in colour.
Solo Leveling takes the usual plot of an MC becoming overpowered and completely makes it their own. We follow the journey of Sung Jin-Woo who is nicknamed the worlds weakest hunter, fighting his way through many life and death situations to become stronger.
I know it sounds like every other generic RPG/MMO style, where the overpowered main character does what he wants but Solo Leveling does everything it tries to do just right.
STORY
The setting was done well and the plot was simple, straightforward and easy to follow. It starts off slow but we learn a lot about our character who he is, why he does what he does and how he interacts with the world around him. And if you are patient and read on, it quickly becomes more than just another generic Shounen but a page-turner.
The world-building is done with well-written character development, assisted by very good character interactions. The MC and supporting characters can be somewhat annoying and uneventful but it quickly changes as the character is thrown into the thick of it, leaving you at the edge of your sit. This situations changes his personality and his position in the world around him.
Solo Leveling is definitely something all action and fantasy lovers will enjoy.
ART
In the words of one of my amazing blogger friends;

The ART IS AMAZING, Solo Leveling is one of those beautiful manhwa you don’t find too often. It has a lot of pretty effects, its detailed but not too detailed and is absolutely astonishing.
Especially how blue and black flame are used. And I just love the glow they give his eyes when he’s about to do something cool.
Ah Sung Jin-Woo and his shadows… Arise!
The art is definitely one of the appeals and another area were Solo Leveling shines.
CHARACTER
Decided to show only some of the cute girls!
Characters are unique and relatable. And feel like real people with their own thoughts on the world and their own story to tell. So it’s easy to understand them and the actions they take.
There was good character development with our main character Sung Jin-Woo throughout the series and the way new characters were introduced was always done at the right time and perfectly.
Favourite moment?
For me, one would be starting from chapter 3 where Sung Jin-Woo and his party meet the monster called the Lord. Without spoiling it too much I will just say those chapters with the Lord felt like a scene from a horror movie. It felt very intense.
Isn’t he creepy?
Other moments I liked was when Sung Jin-Woo would get serious and we would get these scenes where his eyes would glow and everything would be shadowy those moments always got me excited.
Least favourite moment?
I felt sad for Kim Sang-Shik. He wasn’t able to completely go down the path he wanted for himself. Things took a turn for him, it was really sad and relatable, being so close but yet being so far.
Kim Sang-Shik character to me reminds me that we are all human we make mistakes, but it’s how we learn from them, admit our faults and make amends for them, is what really matters.
Favourite character?
Sung Jin-Woo shadows those guys are adorable and silly when they aren’t helping him fight. I found myself laughing by there silliness and cluelessness to certain things.
Least favourite character?
Hwang Dong-Su, it seems his bark his much worse than his bite so far.
I was expecting him to be this obstacle that comes and pushes our Sung Jin-Woo to his limits like the Lord monster, that I would be scared for Sung Jin-Woo. But nothing happened and it was a letdown.
Would you read more?
Is Solo Leveling over-hyped in the community? Yeah. Maybe a little. But it is definitely fun and worth a read.
The story flows well and reminds me of some of my favourite manga like One Punch Man and Bleach. Solo Leveling has become one of my favourites and I urge you to give this manhwa a fair chance, you will not be disappointed.
When is Solo Leveling Season 2 Release Date?
Solo Leveling Season 2 was going to be released early this year 2020. But unfortunately, due to the pandemic situation, it’s production is on hold, but thankfully the 2nd season starts this August 2020.

Kamisama Kiss and Inuyasha: Which do you like more? I’ve read both the manga versions and watched the anime shows for these. After seeing Kamisama Kiss, I couldn’t help but notice how similar it was to Inuyasha. So I took to asking readers and other anibloggers what they thought (or if they’ve ever seen both).
One of the main sources and ideas comes from aminoapps. You can read it here for their version. This article is basically the same ideas and article expanded on. And of course, Myanime2go doesn’t own Inuyasha or Kamisama Kiss.
First Similar Reason…
Both Kagome and Nanami are humans with spiritual powers.
Although Kagome is a priestess while Nanami is a god, they both have purification powers. Albeit in different forms where Kagome’s powers come more directly just from her touch or her arrow, while Nanami’s requires her shikigami to do it together.
Another convenient power is the ability to command Inuyasha/ Tomoe. Kagome can forcibly get Inuyasha to sit whenever she commands him to do so by saying “Osuwari!”. For Nanami, since she’s a god and Tomoe is her familiar, she can basically command him to do anything as long as she uses her power over him. This of course brings in some funny moments and comedic relief over the course of both shows.
Character wise, both Kagome and Nanami are direct, sincere, brave and most importantly, warm. Both of them have a kind heart that reaches out to everyone around them. Not having the capacity to leave anyone who’s hurting behind, they never fail to brighten the lives of people they encounter, leaving a positive change on the way people view their lives.
Another Similar Moment for Kamisama Kiss and Inuyasha
Both of the female protagonists time traveled! I really love it when a story involves traveling back into the past of Japanese history. Kagome traveled back into the feudal era (~500+ years ago) while Nanami traveled back into different times of Tomoe’s past.
Both of them have some relation to the past-lives of the lovers of the male protagonists.
Confusing, but let me explain. Kagome is Kikyo’s reincarnation whom Inuyasha loved very deeply in the past. Yukiji is Nanami’s ancestor (Yukiji was Nanami in some cases when Nanami acted as Yukiji) whom Tomoe loved very much too. Both Kagome and Nanami also had the chance to interact with the past-lovers. It’s heart-wrenching to watch them being forced to look at how Inuyasha/ Tomoe still having Kikyo/ Yukiji in their hearts.
With Inuyasha coming out first, it was a main debate on how similar Kagome and Kikyo looked. We even did a whole article going in-depth for it. There was a great debate on which team a person was on. One of the first OTP/Ship wars before anime became so popular.
Kamisama Kiss and Inuyasha: Both males are demons
They’re both canine demons, Inuyasha being a half dog demon and Tomoe being a fox demon. This explains the similarities in their appearances. Both of them have white/ silver hair, however you want to call it. I think a fanfiction even said blounde was described as white/silver. They have adorable, fluffy white ears sticking out and the pupil of their eyes are both cat-like. Oh yeah, not forgetting the sharp claws/ nails they have on their hands.
Character wise, their tsundere personalities are horribly cute in Kamisama Kiss and Inuyasha. They always try to hide their feelings whenever Kagome or Nanami does something for them. Their blushes are absolutely adorable! Both of them also have the strong will to protect their loved ones, always placing themselves at the front lines to defend them. I must say that both of them also have really bad tempers, they get annoyed easily and they definitely show no effort trying to hide it.
Both of them have really sad histories of being in love. Inuyasha was tricked into hating Kikyo and never being able to reconcile or discover the truth till many years later. Kikyo made a really big impact on Inuyasha’s life. Being a half-demon, he was looked down on and he never truly belonged anywhere. He was a lot more violent and cruel until he fell in love with Kikyo. She accepted him for who he was and brought out the gentle side of him.
For Tomoe, Yukiji’s inevitable death was what scarred him so deeply. Being a demon, they would outlive humans by many centuries. The lifespan of a human is probably seen as a second to them. That’s why falling in love but never being able to be with their loved one will always leave a painful memory on Tomoe.
Moreover, because of how Kikyo and Yukiji are both humans, Inuyasha and Tomoe also wanted to change into a human so that they can always live alongside them. Kikyo and Yukiji respectively was of paramount importance that they were willing to forgo the life and abilities they were used to.
The relationships between Inuyasha and Kagome, and Tomoe and Nanami are very similar too. They both bicker a hell of a lot and they’re always at each others’ necks. Any little thing can spark a heated argument. Nevertheless, they’ll settle their conflict and most of the time, in a very cute way.
Despite the similarities, both anime shows have very different feels to them. Even though Inuyasha has many aspects of comedy to them, it definitely takes on a darker and heavier connotation compared to Kamisama Hajimemashita(Kamisama Kiss).
The emotions felt by Kagome and Kikyo are painfully real and it makes you feel frustrated at how wishy-washy Inuyasha is to feel so much for Kikyo who’s only a corpse. Yet you can’t hate Kikyo for it. On the other hand, Kamisama Hajimemashita is a lot more shoujo-ish with the light, fluttery feels. Nevertheless, if you’re a sucker for Japanese-themed anime with supernatural aspects, they’re both worth checking out!

No Game, No Life Is Tet a boy or girl? After 12 anime episodes, 1 film, 2 volumes of Manga and 10 volumes of NGNL light novel this question came up.
I might have gotten a little carried away…
Watching the movie made it really hard not to like Tet’s character even more than I already did before.
Tet’s character is a character created from love, sadness, hopefulness, strength, and so much more.
Starting off as Riku’s imaginary friend, without form, Tet saw wars and suffering through Riku, and was finally given form through Riku’s wish, Schwi and the enormous surrounding magic energy making Tet the God of Games, the “ultimate gamer” that Riku fantasized.
Tet not only inheriting Riku’s wish to end the war but also implemented ten commandments that although modified, is still based strongly on Riku’s original six commandments for survival.
Tet to me is like the child that carries on Riku and Schwi’s legacy and hopes for the future.
But I just recently noticed while looking at gender character categories that our bright, playful, benevolent and peace-loving Tet. According to consensus and assumptions;
Tet is a boy.
Am I the only one who thought Tet was a girl?
I find it hard to believe that Tet’s a boy. I mean to me Tet’s just a tomboy, a reverse trap (a girl that looks like a boy).
Before I put up any reasons why I think Tet’s a girl, I think it should be noted that:
Yū Kamiya the author of No Game, No Life has not yet made an official statement about the gender of Tet.

So what other points do I have to support my theory you ask? Well…
Tet is an Old Deus
What are Old Deus?
Old Deus are a first ranked race of the Exceed. They are made and exist from concepts such as sentiments, desires and belief in their existence. Like how Tet comes about being from Riku Dola’s imagination or Artosh’s from people’s desire for war.
My point is Old Deus can shapeshift and take the form of other races, their true form exists in the form of Ether.
Tet’s ether form is the Suniastor.
Old Deus can take any form they please, so doesn’t that mean Tet can also be seen as a girl then. To them, gender will be like trying on shoes.
“Boku” is used to for Tet
Yes, “boku” is usually used for referring to males but girls can also refer to themselves using “boku.”
And they’re usually tomboys, so… Victory sign
Inconclusive by the Author
Drawing from my first point earlier the author still hasn’t made it know what gender Tet is and has simply left it to the imagination of others.
In Japanese, it possible to refer to someone with a neutral pronoun without giving it’s gender away.
A case of this would be Crona from Soul Eater gender was never revealed in the original manga (They only had to give Crona a gender so has not to have to refer to him has “It“)
Tet is a god
Being the One True God of Disboard, can we really classify someone with god status under a specific gender when he can change his gender to anyone, he chooses. Tet and the other Old Deus are concepts after all and concepts change, so their gender should also be looked at this way after all.
That’s all my points.

It’s no secret how amazing fanfiction is. It’s even better when it comes from Inuyasha. In fact, on fanfiction(dot) net, it’s the third most written category in anime/manga with Naruto being first and Hetalia-Axis Powers coming in second.
While being on hiatus, I decided that some major therapy was in order in the form of reading some of my favourite Inuyasha fanfiction stories all over again. I was already watching the show again, but reading has been an escape for as long as I can remember.
Without further ado, here are some of my favourites that you can read over and over again!
Purity
By: Sueric Naraku is dead. The jewel is restored. Facing the ‘truth’ of InuYasha’s feelings, Kagome does the unthinkable. In a final act of love, Kikyou gives InuYasha one chance to fix what went so wrong. But is he too late? Completed
This one is incredible. She has basically created an entire world within this fandom that has become very believable. She has about 11 series written after this one, and it describes their children’s lives. I normally don’t like OC characters but this one has stuck with me. It’s one of those stories that make you question whether or not it’s canon.
A Very Sesshomaru Pregnancy
By: Kanna37 Every woman since Eve has wished that her male would know what it was like to suffer through a pregnancy. Kagome’s wish for the same is going to be granted… lucky, lucky her.
This one was just hilarious. I enjoy reading a comedy every now and then and this one takes the cake for an Inuyasha fanfiction. Despite being between Sesshomaru and Kagome, it still deserves a spot as one of the bests!
Hunted
By: RoseDragonWitch During a hunting trip, Kagome’s family go after a half wolf/half dog called ‘Quicksilver’. One night she turns into a wolf after wearing a strange jewel to bed; now she ends up crossing paths with the legendary dog and sees what it’s like to hunted.
This one was extremely unique. It was fun to see this written in non-human form and the love story will keep you staying up all night to finish it.
Beauty and the Half-Demon
By: RoseDragonWitch A bored, young peasant girl who seeks for a purpose in life and a cursed, young half demon that writhes in physical and emotional agony. His servants have become prisoners in their own home. A dark curse is at work that only the power of love can break.
Another one by RoseDragonWitch! She’s talented, that’s for sure! This one has been a new spin on the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast. Fans of either one will certainly enjoy this Inuyasha fanfiction.
9 Months
By: DeletedAccountNotChangingMind Kagome is given the weirdest offer by top business man Inuyasha Takahashi. With a few simple words he changes her whole life: “Will you bare my child?”
Another comedy. Fans of Inuyasha will know how often Miroku asks unsuspecting women this question. To hear about it from our favorite hanyou makes it even better!
Weightless
By: Kaggs Kagome develops Anorexia after believing the horrible names bullies call her. After being sent to the hospital, she is sent into the Shikon institute for teens. There she struggles to regain her normal self, falling in love with her doctor in the process.
This fanfiction is a bit darker. It deals with an eating disorder which some people might find hard to read. Still, it was touching to read and I immensely enjoyed it.
The King’s Mistress
By: dolphingirl0113 [AU] Kagome and Kikyou Higurashi, rivals in every way, both find themselves in love with their King. But when a man at court brings Kikyou’s scandalous past with him and threatens her life, Kagome must choose between old loyalty and a passionate new love.
I have reread this one the most. I always loved this era and the story is PACKED with something for everyone to enjoy.
Dead Famous

Pretty much anything written by this author is amazing. I think I read all of her works in a day. But it was so worth it!
So you can guess how happy we were when we found out, our long wait was over.
I’ve been playing games my entire life: since I was a little kid with my older siblings and younger brother. It’s an amazing medium that takes you into such amazing and beautiful worlds.
But sadly I could not play The Witcher games yet, so this had me worried about the first of many things:
Do you have to play The Witcher game before watching the Netflix The Witcher?
The answer is no and some people who have played the games say you are likely to get more out of the series going in blind.
In the game, there has been a time skip forward and we meet an all-grown-up Ciri who is 21 instead of 13/14-year-old Ciri, which we get to see in the series.
So they set the game after the books and series, which can lead to massive spoilers when you watch The Witcher.
So after finding that out, it excited me the series was very inclusive of us none Witcher newbies.
The Witcher games have always been talked about in a lot of positive ways so it was exciting to finally get to see it in one form.
I have to admit, when the show was finally coming out I had doubts about if it w be great or turn out awful.
But here’s what I think of the show;
Story
The Witcher is a very enjoyable fantasy drama, but it can feel very slow and drawn out, I think that’s one charm of the series.
There was a depth that went into the world-building and monster scenes by showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich that just made the series seem like a faithful adaptation of The Witcher.
Throughout the episodes, it turned viewers into time travelers going back and forth in time.
Which was an enjoyable experience. It was dark but yet still funny which I think is a hard thing to accomplish sometimes.
Characters
Henry Cavill’s portrayal has Geralt from his grimace to his steely yellow gaze.
And let’s not forget his perfectly timed ‘hmm’ was pretty spot on.
We only got to see him use 4 signs this season, we hope to see more next season.
One of the best parts for me has been Jaskier
His back-and-forth banter with Geralt, his witty trade of insults with Yennefer, his talent for being stupid, and just his overall comedic charm just made me love seeing him through 8 episodes of season 1.
Yennefer of Vengerberg was a complex character, and I like the way we could see more of her backstory, understanding her a lot more.
And throughout the series, she provided more raw emotions the show needed.
Triss Merigold, people have complained about her not being identical to the games or her lack of more screen time this first season.
But the series is truer to the character, as with the novels it is more of a supporting role. While looks wise the game adaptation took liberties with the characters’ looks as well.
The entire cast was excellent.
Music
Was great and matched the scenes perfectly. “Toss a coin to your witcher” is my favorite and it’s been stuck in my head for some days now.
Though we will have to wait until 2021 for a second season of The Witcher.
It was an amazing show that sparked my interest in playing the games. Which according to recommendations you only need to play The Witcher 3 game.
And preferably The Witcher 3: Game of the Year Edition. This includes two expansions that are excellent additions to the game, giving you more locations, quests, characters, and more hours of gameplay.
And on a PC cause, the graphics will be better.
