As someone who’s extremely busy and can’t spend hours gaming like I used to, for those little breaks during my day, here are some of the best bite-sized games I keep coming back to.

10. Dungeons and Decisions RPG (formerly Medieval Fantasy RPG)
Yes, it’s text-based, but don’t let that put you off. Delight Games spent over 10 years crafting a story with more than 1.5 million words, where all character storylines exist in the same universe, meaning your former character’s choices echo into your next playthrough.
Simple to learn, hard to master. You read, you make choices, and the consequences aren’t always obvious until it’s too late. You follow characters with their own personalities and goals, shaping their story through combat, romance, and everything in between. One wrong choice and your character is dead, no warning. Casual enough to pick up anywhere, addictive enough that putting it down is the hard part.
You play as a soul traveling from body to body through the cycle of life, experiencing everything from a normal everyday life to being a hero, zombie survivor, assassin, and so many more fun scenarios. The aim is to break the cycle and reach Nirvana. It has a great mix of mystery and humor, and the further you play, the more fun surprises you discover. It’s casual enough to pick up at any moment, but addictive enough that putting it down is harder than expected.
Beat Cancer is an idle clicker and beat ’em up game with an amazing cause behind it, helping fund actual cancer research while keeping you genuinely entertained. Made by Polyspice, a small game company based in Denmark, and honestly, one of those studios worth keeping an eye on.
The aim is simple. Players beat the hell out of cancer cells one tap at a time as they travel down the bloodstream, using their fingers and some hilariously over-the-top weapons when things get overwhelming. What makes it special is that for every ad you watch or purchase you make, 20% gets donated directly to cancer research. A game you actually feel proud playing, and for kids, a pretty solid excuse to squeeze in a few extra hours.
The concept is brilliantly simple. You open two free booster packs every single day, collect cards, and battle other players in quick matches that take minutes rather than hours. The good thing is that you don’t have to buy any physical cards. Additionally, the daily pack opening alone is addictive enough to keep you coming back, and the card artwork is genuinely beautiful. That said, spending money on extra packs is very tempting once you get hooked.
Small Living World is a great indie simulation game that runs right in your hands. It’s a unique little world builder where you slowly grow your own pixel-based ecosystem in a gentle aesthetic with accompanying soothing nature sounds.
You start with an almost desert-like world that you’ll bring back to life as a lush forest landscape. Everything is under your control, from the terrain shape to the plants and animals that live there. Deploy the full power of the terraforming tools and watch the world evolve on its own, slowly developing into a mystical forest.
All in all, it’s a very relaxing game with a sense of progression that’s completely in your hands, everything at your own pace.

Canadian indie studio Snowman spent over two years building this game, won an Apple Design Award for it in 2018, and somehow made it completely free on Android. That generosity makes more sense once you actually play it, because Alto’s Odyssey is the kind of game that sells itself the moment you open it.
You sandboard through a procedurally generated desert that shifts between stunning biomes, day cycles, and weather effects, all controlled with a single tap. As fans who have seen hundreds of anime, there are not that many that made us stop and say, “Wow, this is something truly special.” That said, here are the top 20 anime series, chosen by a team of writers who’ve watched hundreds of anime across genres.
1. Hunter x Hunter
Hunter x Hunter may have its fair share of hiatuses, but both the manga and anime are still as popular as ever. While the anime might not be as big as Naruto or One Piece due to the frequent breaks, the story of the lovable hunter Gon searching for his long-lost father has solidified itself as one of the best shounen, even with the story still unfinished.
With rich worldbuilding, memorable characters, and masterfully crafted arcs that explore complex moral themes, Hunter x Hunter is definitely one of the best anime out there.
2. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood nails everything, ranging from badass action through real emotional punches to deep, thoughtful stuff, without ever feeling heavy. If there is a king of storytelling done right, this series easily takes the crown. The Elric brothers’ journey is filled with moral dilemmas and personal growth, set against a richly developed world. Gintama is one of a kind. It’s stupidly funny one minute and then hits you with emotional gut-punches the next. It somehow juggles parody, chaos, and legit powerful storytelling without ever losing its heart.
The show is set in an alternate Edo period where aliens have invaded Earth, and samurai Gintoki Sakata takes on odd jobs with his friends to make ends meet, leading to hilarious and action-packed adventures.

Code Geass is one of those anime that really makes you think about everything, from morality to the choices the characters make. Made in Abyss looks super cute at first. The characters have that almost chibi-like art style, and it all seems kinda whimsical. But don’t let that fool you. Not only does it get dark quickly, but it also gets sad just as fast. The anime somehow mixes breathtaking, otherworldly beauty with some seriously gruesome moments, so you’re constantly torn between “wow” and “oh no.”
Set in a world where a massive, mysterious pit called the Abyss stretches deep into the earth, the story follows a brave girl named Riko who dreams of becoming a legendary Cave Raider like her mother. When she meets a strange robot boy named Reg, the two set off on a dangerous journey into the depths.
6. Attack on Titan
In a world besieged by giant humanoid creatures known as Titans, humanity’s remnants reside within massive walled cities. After a colossal Titan breaches the outer wall, young Eren Yeager vows to eradicate every Titan, joining the military to fight back.
Attack on Titan is the kind of series you show your friend when they say anime is just for kids. With its intense storyline and exploration of mature themes like freedom, oppression, and the human condition, it quickly proves otherwise. Not to mention, it has one of the best plot twists in anime history.
7. Samurai Champloo
Samurai Champloo is about samurai and katana fights. Do I really have to say more?
A mixture of both the past and present, its story is packed full of fillers, and that’s what made Samurai Champloo so great. Its journey, not necessarily the destination. The destination was great too, but the show does so much more than it needed to. Normally, mixing so many things into a plot could be bad, but Samurai Champloo does it wonderfully. And the traveling companions are like water and oil.
It’s a show for everyone. There’s plenty of great sword-slashing action, clever comedy, and a good share of moments that will tug at your heartstrings, often all at once.
8. Spy x Family
In Spy x Family, we meet Loid Forger, a top-tier spy who builds a fake family for a mission. He marries Yor, a kind woman who’s secretly an assassin, and adopts Anya, a telepathic girl who knows the truth but just wants a real family.
None of them know each other’s real identity (except Anya), and her reactions are comedy gold.
Spy x Family is universally loved by most people fortunate enough to come across it, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s funny, wholesome, stylish, and easy to get into, even if you don’t usually watch anime. It doesn’t rely on heavy lore, weird tropes, or anything confusing. Moreover, its English dub is surprisingly good.
9. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Among the newer anime, Demon Slayer (2019) stole the spotlight, and honestly, my heart too, with its gorgeous animation and emotional storytelling. The main guy might seem like your typical shounen hero at first, but that doesn’t take away from how beautifully built the world is or how powerful his journey feels. It’s packed with action, but it also hits hard emotionally in a way you don’t always expect.
In this anime, after demons slaughter his family and turn his sister Nezuko into one, Tanjiro Kamado joins the Demon Slayer Corps to avenge his family and find a cure for Nezuko.
10. March Comes in Like a Lion
The animation and soundtrack in this anime are amazing. It’s one of those series that is much more than it appears on the surface, with plenty of layers and depth.
March Comes in Like a Lion follows Rei Kiriyama, a young boy who loses his parents and sister in an accident. He is left to live with a family friend, where things take a darker turn, leading him to become a professional shogi player.
March Comes in Like a Lion is a powerful coming-of-age story about overcoming depression, and it really helped me understand myself a bit more. It even got me to try my hand at shogi, though I’m no Rei Kiriyama!
11. Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash
Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash is a unique anime that really felt realistic to me. We watched our characters go from 0 to not a 100, but they did get a bit better. With each of their interactions and the plot, I noticed this. I really felt like these were characters I would love to laugh, cry, and go on adventures with.
With a great story, characters, art, and sound, it really is a shame it was only 12 episodes. I’m still waiting patiently for a second season. Until then, I still go back now and then to watch the 12 episodes we have so far. With its large main cast, it was still able to balance between the group and the individuals, and that’s a very hard task to carry out.
12. 86
In a dystopian future, the Republic of San Magnolia claims to be fighting a war with drones, but the truth is that the oppressed “86” are forced to pilot mechs. The story follows Lena, a handler from the Republic, and Shin, a battle-hardened 86 soldier, as they slowly form a bond across the divide.
86 (2021)is one of the best newer anime out there, and fans are eagerly waiting for season 2 to be announced. While the description sounds bleak, 86 isn’t just grim; it has some genuinely beautiful, hopeful, and even tender moments that hit even harder because of all the darkness around them.
13. Kamisama Kiss
Nanami is a high school girl who’s down on her luck. Her dad ditches her, she’s broke, and she ends up homeless. But then she saves a weird guy from a dog, and he’s like, “Hey, you can have my house.” Totally normal… except that “house” turns out to be a shrine, and suddenly she’s a land god living with a grumpy yet handsome fox familiar.
Kamisama Kiss is sweet and funny, and it has actual relationship development. Not just endless flirting with no payoff. Those who like a sprinkle of fantasy, a sprinkle of mischief, and a whole lot of heart, Kamisama Kiss finely hits the spot.
14. KonoSuba
God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! is very good too. It may look like any other RPG harem, but it is so much more than that.
It’s not a show trying to teach you any life lessons; it’s just a show full of entertainment, hilarious moments, and lightheartedness.

16. Fruits Basket
I’ve always loved both the Fruits Basket manga and the original 2001 anime, even though there were some differences. A heartwarming story, the series follows a girl who becomes entangled with a family cursed to transform into animals of the Chinese zodiac.
The 2019 remake takes things up a notch. It follows the manga much more closely, and you can tell that Natsuki Takaya was more involved this time around.
17. Bokura wa Minna Kawai-sou
Bokura wa Minna Kawai-sou is a great shoujo to watch that doesn’t seem rushed, especially with just 12 episodes.
The art and sound were amazing, and the characters were all so lovely and quirky (but in a good way). I really think everyone will see a bit of themselves in one of the characters.
My joy for this anime surprised me because I usually find romance anime not really my thing, but the love in this anime felt really believable and puts a spin on the usual boy meets girl, boy confesses his feelings, and they share a kiss. But it was different this time; the comedy and great characters really bring the story to life and make you love every moment of the anime.
18. Inuyasha
Of course, Inuyasha is my favorite. It was my first real anime, and I quickly fell in love with the story and the adorable hanyou (half-demon, half-human).
Now, Fairy Tail is one of those mainstream anime that you either love or hate. Personally, I loved the artwork and the many plotlines that kept things exciting. I can’t even count how many times I bawled my eyes out while watching this show.
Family and friendship are things everyone connects with, and they’re at the heart of a lot of shounen, with Fairy Tail being no exception. It’s exactly that bond between the fleshed-out characters that makes this series so great. Fairy Tail is one of those series I always recommend for newcomers since it’s easy to follow, filled with epic fights, goofy banter, and a wholesome theme.
20. Shugo Chara
Not many people know about this one, but I absolutely love it. As a kid, I related to it so much. It even gave me the courage to embrace being the “weird anime kid” in school and helped me feel less alone.
The artwork might be a bit odd (especially the eyes), but that doesn’t stop me from loving it. It’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

The ultimate chill anime about a group of girls who love camping, Laid-Back Camp is like a warm cup of tea on a cold day. With serene landscapes and relaxing moments, whether it’s setting up tents or simply enjoying nature’s peace, this anime gives you all the cozy vibes you need.
When life feels heavy, these girls’ embrace of quiet joys is just what you need to lift your mood. Plus, you’ll get a new love for the outdoors!
14. The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.
Saiki K. is the comedy you never knew you needed. Saiki, a high school student with psychic powers, just wants to live a normal life, but his crazy classmates and insane situations keep getting in the way.
This anime is non-stop humor with a protagonist who’s ridiculously OP but just wants peace and quiet. The sheer randomness of his life will have you laughing in no time, making it the perfect anime for when you just need to escape and enjoy something completely absurd.
13. Kaguya-sama: Love is War
Kaguya-sama: Love is War is one of those romantic comedies that will literally have you laughing out loud. It’s about two high school geniuses, Kaguya and Miyuki, who are in love with each other but are too stubborn to confess. Instead, they engage in hilarious mind games to try and get the other to admit their feelings first.
The back-and-forth between them is both adorable and ridiculous, and it’ll have you grinning from ear to ear. No heavy drama here, just pure comedic gold.
12. Lucky Star
If you’re ever in need of pure, silly fun, Lucky Star is where it’s at. This slice-of-life anime follows a group of high school girls just living their everyday lives. The jokes are quirky, the characters are hilarious, and it’s totally carefree.
From ridiculous moments about food to totally random discussions, it’ll definitely lift your spirits without asking for too much emotional investment. It’s the kind of anime that reminds you how simple and silly life can be when you don’t sweat the small stuff.
11. One Punch Man
Sometimes, when life feels tough, you just need a superhero who’s chill and absolutely overpowered. Enter One Punch Man, where Saitama, the hero, can defeat any villain with a single punch. Sounds ridiculous, right? And it is, in the best way!
Watching Saitama casually save the day while being bored out of his mind will make you laugh and give you that needed boost. It’s fun, light, and packed with epic fights, but it’s also a reminder that not everything in life has to be taken so seriously.
10. K-On!
This anime is like a big, warm hug. No drama, no life-or-death plots—just a bunch of high school girls forming a band and eating cake in the clubroom a lot. Yui, the clumsy guitarist, is so adorable that you can’t help but smile.
Every episode is basically a serotonin booster, and if you’re feeling down, it’s the kind of light-hearted chaos you need. Music, friendship, and fluffy vibes all the way. 10/10 comfort anime, no notes.
9. My Ordinary Life
My Ordinary Life might have “ordinary” in the title, but it’s anything but ordinary. It’s completely random, like laugh-so-hard-you-cry kind of random. One second there’s a girl wrestling a deer, the next, a principal is flying through the air. The deadpan humor mixed with insane situations just works.
The show follows the daily antics of three high school friends—Yūko Aioi, Mio Naganohara, and Mai Minakami—and their interactions with an eight-year-old genius inventor, her robot caretaker, and a talking cat.
If you’re ever crying on the floor and need a reason to laugh again, this anime will totally pull you up. Trust me, it’s a mood.
8. Barakamon
Ughhh, this one hit me right in the soul. It’s about a grumpy calligrapher who escapes city life and ends up on a quiet island with a bunch of chaotic locals—including the most adorable little girl, Naru, who basically steals the show.
Barakamon is one of those shows that just feels calming. It’s got plenty of funny moments, but it also hits you with some meaningful lessons about life and growth. It’s the kind of anime that makes you smile and think at the same time.
7. My Roommate is a Cat
This one’s for all my introvert-anxiety besties. The main guy loses his parents and suddenly ends up living with a stray cat named Haru. What makes this anime super special is that you get to hear both the human’s and the cat’s perspective. In fact, it’s the simple moments they share that are so uplifting.
All in all, it’s sweet, quiet, and sometimes emotional, but in the best way. Perfect for rainy days and curling up with a blanket (and maybe your own cat 🐾).
6. Komi Can’t Communicate
Komi is the shy queen of our dreams. She literally can’t talk to anyone and yet somehow ends up becoming the school’s most admired girl. Watching her slowly open up and make friends is so wholesome that it hurts. Not to mention, while it tackles serious themes, it still maintains a funny and lighthearted tone with a major feel-good energy.
The art is beautiful, the humor is on point, and the whole thing just makes you root for her so hard.
5. InuYasha
InuYasha was the first real anime and manga series that I read. I quickly fell in love with the characters from feudal and modern Japan. It follows Kagome, a human girl, who is transported to feudal Japan, where she meets Inuyasha, a half-demon trapped by a sacred arrow. Together, they search for the shattered pieces of the Shikon no Tama, a jewel that grants wishes, while battling enemies and making new friends along the way.
This is a great anime series if you want something cute with a bit of the older Sailor Moon type of feel. It’s nostalgic, and the romance and laughter will keep you smiling for a while. Not to mention, it inspired so many great fanfictions!
4. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir
I just discovered this anime last year when I was going through anime music videos. Depression had hit me hard, and I decided to give this anime a chance. By the first episode, I was hooked! And I do mean, soul-consuming, forget everything else hooked.
In this show, Marinette and Adrien, armed with magical Miraculous jewels, transform into Ladybug and Chat Noir to protect Paris from akumas sent by the villain Hawkmoth, all while keeping their identities a secret.
This anime is just super cute. The second season was just released, and I’m still hopelessly waiting for the next episode. The best(and most frustrating) part of the show is that Marinette is in love with Adrien, Adrien is in love with Ladybug, and Chat Noir loves Ladybug. They’re basically in love with each other, and it’s adorable and laugh-out-loud funny. Not to mention, it’ll make you throw your pillows at the tv screen.
3. Shugo Chara
Shugo Chara was one of the first anime I watched in high school. The story centers around Amu Hinamori, an elementary school girl with a “cool and spicy” exterior, who wishes for the courage to be her true self. The next morning, she discovers three colorful eggs that hatch into Guardian Characters: Ran, Miki, and Su.
Amu’s Guardian Characters help her discover her true self and fulfill her dreams. As she struggles with her “would-be” selves, Amu learns to “chara-nari” (character transform) or “character change” for special powers, both offensive and practical. Eventually, Amu is recruited as the “Joker” to search for X Eggs and X Characters, corrupted forms of people’s dreams, which the Guardians aim to purify.
Shugo Chara will give you all the feels and remind you of what it was like to be a child again—before depression took over, when you still knew what you wanted to do and who you wanted to be in life.
2. Himouto! Umaru Chan
I’m sure you’ve already seen the pictures for this one. Basically, Umaru Doma is considered the perfect person, but once she’s home, she turns into a lazy, selfish chibi character that just games and watches anime all day while eating snacks and drinking cola. Honestly, she sounds exactly like me!
So, if you ever feel like you’re overwhelmed with adult responsibilities, watching Umaru embrace her lazy side without any worries is sure to bring a smile to your face.
1. Ouran High School Host Club
I just HAD to include Ouran High on this list. When I first watched this, it captured my attention quickly. Basically, Haruhi Fujioka goes to Ouran High on scholarships while most everyone else is just a rich kid that goes. She goes into Music Room 3 and accidentally breaks a vase in front of the eccentric members she meets there, and they make her work it off as their errand boy. I say, boy, because, since she has a tomboyish figure and short hair, they mistake her as a male instead of a female at first.
2024 is halfway through but we’re still expecting two more seasons full of both new anime and returning favorites. With that in mind, here are the most anticipated anime series of 2024 that you should add to your watch list!
15. Ron Kamonohashi’s Forbidden Deductions Season 2

Ron Kamonohashi’s Forbidden Deductionsis a wacky detective show where a quirky genius solves puzzles, and you solve them along with him. Instead of being dark, it’s lighthearted and fun, allowing you to kick back and simply enjoy.
The series follows a really smart but weird detective guy named Ron. He used to be the best but got in trouble and lost his detective license. Now he helps an unskilled cop named Totomaru solve crimes. They’re an odd pair, but they’re good at catching bad guys.
Season 2 will be another wild ride with the eccentric detective. Expect more crazy cases, weird people, and even weirder solutions.
14. Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga

Genres: Action, Fantasy, Demons, Shounen
Blue Exorcist is a classic school-set shonen anime with a likable main character at its core. While some may find it cliché, the series does a good job at gently tackling relatable themes like friendship, feeling like an outcast, and family. It may not be as deep as other popular shounen like Attack on Titan or FMA but it still offers a solid, engaging story and lovable characters.
Following their victory over the Impure King, Rin and his friends return to True Cross Academy, only to encounter a series of strange events. At the school festival, Lucifer from the Illuminati arrives and declares war, intending to merge the human and demon realms by resurrecting Satan.
13. Sakamoto Days

One day, a legendary assassin meets a shop lady and quickly falls in love with her. Embracing his new life, he retires from his deadly profession. Despite his retirement, the assassin’s skills remain sharp, and he defeats the agent. Recognizing the assassin’s unmatched abilities, the agent accepts defeat and later joins the shop as a worker. Akumetsu is a dark and violent seinen manga with a complex plot. To many, including me, Akumetsu is what Death Note wishes to be. That being said, this manga is full of brutal killings and violence, so it’s not for everyone.
In this manga, Shou, a vigilante, seeks to reform the corrupt Japanese government through acts of terrorism, guided by his “One man, One kill” code of action.
Needless to say, for those seeking an adrenaline-fueled story with a gritty undertone and a complex moral dilemma, Akumetsu might be an interesting read.
13. Sweat and Soap
We are back in the romance genre to lighten the mood a bit. Sweat and Soap follows a self-conscious Asako who works at a soap company, relying on their products to hide her sweat and odor. When a developer compliments her unique scent, they develop a surprising romance.
Clearly intended for adult audiences, this manga is ideal for fans of josei romance seeking a blend of warmth, sensuality, and mature themes.
12. Taishou Maiden Fairytale
Despite being adapted into an anime in 2021, Taisho Otome Fairy Tale remains a hidden romance gem. While some may classify it as a wholesome wish-fulfillment story, this doesn’t lessen its charm in the slightest.

11. Black Lagoon
Inspired by real-life Southeast Asian pirates and the action-comedy of Tarantino and Hong Kong cinema, Rei Hiroe crafted the world of Black Lagoon. The manga takes place in a dark world and doesn’t shy away from the harsh realities.
Black Lagoon is about a boring office worker, Rock, who gets kidnapped by a crew of wild mercenaries in Southeast Asia. Stuck with them, he ditches his dull life for a crazy adventure.

Fruits Basket follows an orphan called Tohru Honda who ends up living with the mysterious Sohma family, unaware they’re cursed to transform into the zodiac animals!
8. Oshi no Ko
Being an idol is a dream of many people, particularly the younger ones. However, those who choose this difficult career path are bound to discover sooner or later the dark side of fame, the exploitation of young talents, and the sacrifices made for success.
Oshi no Ko’s premise doesn’t stand out at first. It’s a story about the reincarnation of two deceased people, a doctor and a sick girl, who are both huge fans of a beautiful idol, Ai Hoshino. The twist? They are reborn as her children.
With that being said, the manga blends the idol genre with mystery and drama, adding a grim flavor to the story.
7. Nana
Nana follows two young women named Nana, both chasing dreams in Tokyo. One Nana, a punk rocker, seeks musical fame, while the other seeks love and stability. Their friendship blossoms despite their differences, but dealing with love, careers, and self-discovery in a demanding city tests their bond.

Vinland Saga is a brutal and epic historical drama set in Viking times. While its premise is relatively simple, its dark and gritty setting and well-developed characters set it apart from other manga in similar genres. The characters also grapple with moral dilemmas, PTSD, and the emotional toll of violence.
The manga focuses on Thorfinn, a young Icelandic warrior fueled by revenge, who seeks to kill Askeladd, the man who slew his father.

After things go wrong, he’s framed as a criminal and left for dead. A kind monk saves him and gives him a new name: Musashi Miyamoto. This is the start of Musashi’s journey.
Often praised for breathtaking art, thought-provoking themes, and compelling character development, it’s surprising that not even one studio has tried to adapt it. Unfortunately, Vagabond has been on hiatus for 8 years, with the last chapter released on May 21, 2015.

Berserk is the king of mature manga. Its violence, complex story, and tragedy make it unsuitable for younger viewers. On the other hand, adult audiences can easily appreciate this masterpiece’s complexity and beauty. According to many, the anime adaptations, particularly the 2017 series, haven’t always captured the full brilliance of the manga.

This slice-of-life anime features a character with a striking resemblance to our favorite wizard.
But here’s the twist: Princess Jellyfish isn’t set in a magical land. It’s a modern-day story based in Tokyo!
Meet Tsukimi, a NEET (someone who neither works nor studies) who lives for jellyfish and all things comfy. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Kuranosuke, a flamboyantly dressed (and sometimes cross-dressing) guy with a knack for fashion.

Director
Nausicaä was directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki. You might have already heard about him because he is quite famous; after all, he is one of the co-founders of Studio Ghibli. Moreover, he created some of the most beloved and critically acclaimed anime films like My Neighbor Totoro,Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away.
But before all that, he was “the brain” behind Lupin III and possibly didn’t have it easy with Nausicaä. Started as manga or anime? Bit fuzzy. Some say he wanted an anime, got shut down, and manga happened. Others claim manga was the plan, and anime was kinda forced. Either way, the movie was a success, and Studio Ghibli was established by the staff who created Nausicaä.
By the way, the manga, written and illustrated by Miyazaki himself, outlived the film, going strong for seven volumes. In any case, it could have easily been an anime series instead of a movie.
Story
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the movie follows the story of Nausicaä, a princess of the Valley of the Wind. The earth is covered in a toxic forest, and humanity struggles to survive amidst warring nations and giant insects. Nausicaä, driven by her love for nature and peace, becomes a beacon of hope and strives to understand the mysteries of the toxic jungle.
Comparing Princess Mononoke to Nausicaä, you’ll notice many similarities. Even though the former highlights dense forests, serene meadows, and flowing rivers, the latter shows us beauty in everything around our heroine, even when she explores mysterious poisonous forests.
Nausicaä doesn’t have the dreamy vibe of the newer Ghibli films, but that’s what makes it stand out. It’s a solid mix of complexity and simplicity – enough depth for those into deep stories, but straightforward enough for everyone else. It’s that sweet spot where everyone can enjoy the ride without getting lost.
Art
Gorgeous artwork is expected and you will be satisfied with the beautiful and vibrant world Nausicaä presents. All in all, it’s an excellent production. Surprisingly, the animation holds up to this day, which is admirable since this movie is 40 years old.

The story moved at a slow pace and had so many plots and side plots, you would think it was this, then get the rug pulled from under you and it would turn out to be this, which made you develop so many theories, but towards the end so many things where explained.

Momonga spends his last few moments in the game as the server begins to shut down to his surprise despite the clock having struck midnight, he is still in the game and the NPC have also developed personalities. So now he commands his loyal servants to help him investigate and take over the new world he is in and maybe finding other players stuck in the game like him.

I had my reservations about it coming in, thinking it would be generic and the same old same old, but it differs in the sense that the protagonist is the antagonist and I felt this was new and creative.
The art and music were a good combination, matching themselves brilliantly and the characters were great and a good combination, complementing each other.
17. Log Horizon

It’s slow-paced at the beginning but picks up as the show goes on, and unlike other shounen anime where the main character powers up and defeats his enemy, Shiroe is not like that, instead of With his strategic approach to battle, he’s usually in the background controlling the flow of battle, getting him the nickname “villain in glasses”.
It’s not your typical show, I especially liked how realism in the world of fantasy was added into Log Horizon, it’s not a perfect show but it was enjoyable to watch.
16. Sword Art Online

Using fantastic weapons to fight gruesome monsters and other players, unable to log out the only way out of this virtual hell is to complete all one hundred levels of the game. If you die in the game, you die in real life.

There are some harsh reviews out there about this fantasy anime, and some point out some far-off points, but I believe that even if the plot and characters were not the best, the art and sound get high marks. But you have to admit it is enjoyable; the pacing was off, and the time skip didn’t help its cause.
With SAO, you will either love this fantasy anime or hate it.
15. Goblin Slayer

This anime brings back a lot of nostalgia, with its narrative, dialogue box, and sometimes 2D pixelated scenes. It’s an old classic that has been remade for the new generation, and it was executed brilliantly.
In a fantastical world filled with dungeons, magic, and adventure, we follow the story of Aladdin, a young magician with a mysterious flute, and Alibaba, a skilled warrior with dreams of conquering a dungeon.
Together with Morgiana, a slave with incredible physical abilities, they set out on a quest to explore dungeons, amass treasures, and uncover the secrets of the world’s magical system. Little do they know that they’re entangled in a destiny that goes far beyond their wildest imaginations.

This is a fantasy anime show for people who are new and old to anime. It takes different aspects and genres to create this wonderful show and I would recommend everyone who watches anime.
I loved it because I felt it was something new and creative, with a detailed plot and a well-developed cast. It was fun to watch from beginning to end.

I had my doubts about this anime but I was glad I gave it a chance the only real problem with it was it was only 10 episodes in the first season, there was very little relevant plot and it sometimes promised to be going somewhere with the plot but yet never does but to be that was one of the things that made it better, it was refreshing and I couldn’t stop laughing till the very end.
It was pure joy watching its characters were all funny and awesome, the animation and art were gorgeous and the soundtrack was amazing too. With genuinely hilarious jokes, any flaws this series has are easily forgotten. It will cheer you up and is great for a new anime watcher, you won’t be disappointed.

I finally got around to watching this and it was very definitely worth watching and became a guilty pleasure for me, it was not the most well-written story but it just works, maybe because of the ton of clichés and fanservice, the pacing can also be sometimes questionable but even so it never fails to entertain. The setting is within an MMORPG game world, the difference this time is that instead, to them that’s the real world for our character and it functions like a game. Gaining experience points, earning loot, leveling up, gaining skills and magic.
Bell is a very new and refreshing protagonist, he’s not a typical imbalanced protagonist, nor a generic shounen hero relying on the power of friendship to save the day, but he is extremely shy, innocent, and a very kind-hearted person who does care for those around him and help them anyhow he can, even if it puts him at risk himself and this makes him very relatable.
Danmachi gives you much more than you would expect when watching it and I love that about it.

The show was quite a unique watch and made me want more shows like it the environment, and background felt hand-drawn and were very beautiful and warm. Character growth felt natural and was not unrealistic 0 to 100 time frame, they failed, succeeded, laughed, and cried, they felt like real people’s faults, limitations, and all, and I just loved every moment of it.
They balanced everything out wonderfully in this anime from reflection by characters, which was interesting to watch and not boring with you wishing it was over already, you enjoyed watching them on the battlefield and in their daily lives. There is group development and not just solely an individual’s development, no character is neglected and we get to see how they all live roles, and reactions to events, and this is all balanced out very well. It can be seen as slow-paced because of this but it’s so well done you will end up not minding the pacing, because there is a reason for this, and it’s a good one.
Hai to Gensou no Grimgar can be seen as a slice of life with a combination of realism and narrative showing the characters’ lives and relatively slow progression makes it easy to watch and follow. The sound is just as great as the Art of this anime, also helping convey the mood and story.
It’s a must-watch fantasy anime but I hate it’s just 12 episodes, I think it deserved more, as we don’t get to see the new developments in the characters at the end of episode 12 being used.
