One second there’s a girl wrestling a deer, the next, a principal is flying through the air. The deadpan humor mixed with insane situations just works.
The show follows the daily antics of three high school friends—Yūko Aioi, Mio Naganohara, and Mai Minakami—and their interactions with an eight-year-old genius inventor, her robot caretaker, and a talking cat.
If you’re ever crying on the floor and need a reason to laugh again, this anime will totally pull you up. Trust me, it’s a mood.
8. Barakamon
Ughhh, this one hit me right in the soul. It’s about a grumpy calligrapher who escapes city life and ends up on a quiet island with a bunch of chaotic locals—including the most adorable little girl, Naru, who basically steals the show.
Barakamon is one of those shows that just feels calming. It’s got plenty of funny moments, but it also hits you with some meaningful lessons about life and growth. It’s the kind of anime that makes you smile and think at the same time.
7. My Roommate is a Cat
This one’s for all my introvert-anxiety besties. The main guy loses his parents and suddenly ends up living with a stray cat named Haru. What makes this anime super special is that you get to hear both the human’s and the cat’s perspective. In fact, it’s the simple moments they share that are so uplifting.
All in all, it’s sweet, quiet, and sometimes emotional, but in the best way. Perfect for rainy days and curling up with a blanket (and maybe your own cat 🐾).
6. Komi Can’t Communicate
Komi is the shy queen of our dreams. She literally can’t talk to anyone and yet somehow ends up becoming the school’s most admired girl. Watching her slowly open up and make friends is so wholesome that it hurts. Not to mention, while it tackles serious themes, it still maintains a funny and lighthearted tone with a major feel-good energy.
The art is beautiful, the humor is on point, and the whole thing just makes you root for her so hard.
5. InuYasha
InuYasha was the first real anime and manga series that I read. I quickly fell in love with the characters from feudal and modern Japan. It follows Kagome, a human girl, who is transported to feudal Japan, where she meets Inuyasha, a half-demon trapped by a sacred arrow. Together, they search for the shattered pieces of the Shikon no Tama, a jewel that grants wishes, while battling enemies and making new friends along the way.
This is a great anime series if you want something cute with a bit of the older Sailor Moon type of feel. It’s nostalgic, and the romance and laughter will keep you smiling for a while. Not to mention, it inspired so many great fanfictions!
4. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir
I just discovered this anime last year when I was going through anime music videos. Depression had hit me hard, and I decided to give this anime a chance. By the first episode, I was hooked! And I do mean, soul-consuming, forget everything else hooked.
In this show, Marinette and Adrien, armed with magical Miraculous jewels, transform into Ladybug and Chat Noir to protect Paris from akumas sent by the villain Hawkmoth, all while keeping their identities a secret.
This anime is just super cute. The second season was just released, and I’m still hopelessly waiting for the next episode. The best(and most frustrating) part of the show is that Marinette is in love with Adrien, Adrien is in love with Ladybug, and Chat Noir loves Ladybug. They’re basically in love with each other, and it’s adorable and laugh-out-loud funny. Not to mention, it’ll make you throw your pillows at the tv screen.
3. Shugo Chara
Shugo Chara was one of the first anime I watched in high school. The story centers around Amu Hinamori, an elementary school girl with a “cool and spicy” exterior, who wishes for the courage to be her true self. The next morning, she discovers three colorful eggs that hatch into Guardian Characters: Ran, Miki, and Su.
Amu’s Guardian Characters help her discover her true self and fulfill her dreams. As she struggles with her “would-be” selves, Amu learns to “chara-nari” (character transform) or “character change” for special powers, both offensive and practical. Eventually, Amu is recruited as the “Joker” to search for X Eggs and X Characters, corrupted forms of people’s dreams, which the Guardians aim to purify.
Shugo Chara will give you all the feels and remind you of what it was like to be a child again—before depression took over, when you still knew what you wanted to do and who you wanted to be in life.
2. Himouto! Umaru Chan
I’m sure you’ve already seen the pictures for this one. Basically, Umaru Doma is considered the perfect person, but once she’s home, she turns into a lazy, selfish chibi character that just games and watches anime all day while eating snacks and drinking cola. Honestly, she sounds exactly like me!
So, if you ever feel like you’re overwhelmed with adult responsibilities, watching Umaru embrace her lazy side without any worries is sure to bring a smile to your face.

I just HAD to include Ouran High on this list. When I first watched this, it captured my attention quickly. Basically, Haruhi Fujioka goes to Ouran High on scholarships while most everyone else is just a rich kid that goes. She goes into Music Room 3 and accidentally breaks a vase in front of the eccentric members she meets there, and they make her work it off as their errand boy. I say, boy, because, since she has a tomboyish figure and short hair, they mistake her as a male instead of a female at first.
If you’re a fan of Medaka Kuroiwa Is Impervious to My Charms, you’ll enjoy these anime that also feature quirky, confident female leads who chase after more reserved or emotionally distant male protagonists. These series mix humor with romance, highlighting the slow but sure development of a relationship through playful teasing and personal growth.

Much like Medaka’s relentless teasing of Kuroiwa, Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro centers around Nagatoro’s playful bullying of her senpai, Naoto. As she pushes him out of his comfort zone, the relationship between them deepens into something more heartfelt.
What sets this anime apart is the rawness of their interactions, as Nagatoro balances her teasing with moments of vulnerability. Kaguya and Miyuki’s constant games of one-upmanship in their attempts to get the other to confess their feelings are full of hilarious twists and emotional moments.
Both Kaguya and Medaka enjoy playing mind games and trying to push each other into emotional submission, yet both have hidden vulnerabilities that surface as their relationships grow. This mix of laughs, clever moves, and growing romance will keep you hooked the whole way through.
3. My Senpai is Annoying
My Senpai is Annoying showcases a similar dynamic to Medaka Kuroiwa, with the female protagonist, Haru, finding herself irritated by her oblivious but charming senpai, Takeda. Haru starts off finding Takeda’s behavior annoying but slowly begins to develop feelings for him as she gets to know his more thoughtful side.

In Tonikaku Kawaii, Nasa is a lovable, naive guy who falls for the confident Tsukasa. Tsukasa, much like Medaka, takes charge of their relationship from the start, even though Nasa’s more bashful and clueless. Their story is less about teasing and more about understanding each other’s quirks, but the relationship between them is strikingly similar to Medaka and Kuroiwa’s.
The confident female protagonist and the somewhat oblivious male protagonist make a cute pair, and their love story unfolds with humor and sweetness. If you enjoyed the way Medaka takes control of Kuroiwa’s heart, you’ll appreciate how Tsukasa dominates Nasa’s.

The Quintessential Quintuplets follows Fuutarou, a tutor who’s hired to help five very different sisters with their studies. Plenty of excellent anime series could benefit from another season or two, and hopefully, more studios will realize the potential of bringing these beloved stories back to life. So I’ve been trying to get back into reading manga. In High School, I would read these ALL the time when I was in class, at home, and during the weekends. Now that I’m almost 30… I rarely have time but miss being able to lose myself in a good manga.
So these are all the new/old mangas I’ll be buying and reading/rereading this summer!
We budget for $50 a month for fun money and I’ve been saving mine so I can get ALL the mangas I’ve been meaning to catch up on and reread this summer.
6.Death Note (All in One Edition)
Death Note, I feel, is a classic. I LOVED the anime and even the musical. The live-action was pretty bad as most are but this anime is great for beginners and I’ve been meaning to see if the manga is any good. This is the complete set of all of them (I enjoy getting them all at once) but you can do one at a time.

ALL of THEM!
Since I’m obsessed with this RPG turned manga turned anime, of COURSE, I would want to own all the volumes. It’s slightly different from its anime and game but I enjoy seeing the different versions.
4.Fruits Basket complete set
Another classic! I’ve even liked the remake that they started last year.
I grew up with this one. The anime is cute, and the manga is a little different but still one of my favorites. It’ll make you cry but laugh as well.
2.Devil’s Line Volume 1 and other volumes
The manga goes more in-depth than the anime did (as usual for books/manga turned into movies/anime) and I loved reading the whole backstory. I only own volume 1 right now and want to get all of them!
1.Ouran High School Host Club COMPLETE Set
Another classic that is great for newbies. It’s witty and wholesome with some pure moments that will make you tear up. The manga feels more complete than the anime, though both are still amazing.
Oh! I’m also looking for the best deal for Kiss Him, Not Me. I read it online after watching the anime. I LOVED it but the anime isn’t complete. The manga actually finishes her journey into love and adds more depth to it. I love deals though so I’m still looking for the best deal for it.

anime fan in the real world….yeah, it’s tough. Here are TEN reasons that it’s tough for someone to be an anime fan in the real world. Brought together by several articles, friends and other anime writers who all brought their opinions to the table.
Naturally, anyone who consumes anime on a regular basis knows that doing so can lead to some interesting issues. Being a fan of anything inevitably leads to problems unique to that fandom, and anime is no different. Ranging from the serious to the silly, these are issues that anyone who doesn’t watch anime just won’t understand.
Let’s get to it!
10. Choosing Between Sub Or Dub
Choosing between watching an anime in its original language or dubbed has always been one of the most common decisions for anime watchers. Well, maybe for some. More hardcore fans insist on watching them in Japanese in order to remain as faithful to the original source as possible, while more casual fans don’t really mind either way. Both are perfectly viable options, and it is up to the viewer to decide which experience suits them best. For me, it depends on the show. For instance, I prefer subbed for most. BUT, Inuyasha is one of the few that I prefer dubbed over subbed.
9. Knowing words like Twincest and being okay with it
Just the fact that I know the word twincest is sort of questionable. And to confirm, the only time I’m ever okay with it is in Ouran High School Host where the twins are pretending for their fans.
8. Keeping A Secret Death Note
Anyone who has watched Death Note has secretly wished the same circumstances that befell protagonist Light Yagami happened to them. Let’s face it, the idea of having the power of death in your hands has a certain morbid appeal to it that every anime fan has wanted one.
7. The Guilt Of Enjoying Terrible Harem Comedies as an anime fan
There is some dumb anime out there. Really dumb. But perhaps none are quite so dumb as the harem comedy. This genre tends to have bare bones plots that exist merely as an excuse to get one sex, usually a male, into a situation where they are romantically pursued by multiple members of the opposite sex. It’s wish fulfillment, plain and simple, and despite knowing you might be getting dumber… you just can’t stop watching.
6. “Is That A Guy Or A Girl?”
This one is fun! You’ll be watching an anime and have to do a double take when you realize you aren’t quite sure whether a certain character is a man or a woman. This is because the art style often does its male characters with physical traits we usually associate with femininity, such as big eyes and long flowing hair. In situations like this, it can actually take a while for you to finally pin it down, and once you’ve done so it’s no longer an issue, but it never stops happening no matter how much anime you watch.
5. Developing A Crush On An Anime Character
If you grew up watching anime, it was entirely possible that you liked a character so much that it made you feel… well, funny inside. The combination of pleasing aesthetics and well developed personality resulted in a character that felt fully realized, and before you knew it, it dawned on you that you just might have a crush on that character. You told yourself that that’s ridiculous; it’s just a cartoon character, right? But then you fell into those big eyes and realized that you’re no longer a kid anymore. Thanks Japan.
4. When Things Get Too Weird Even For You as an anime fan
Anime can be pretty weird sometimes, and everyone who watches it knows that. Watch enough series and you get used to it to the point where you convince yourself that nothing can freak you out anymore. However, eventually you will come across something so disturbingly bizarre that even you can’t help but curl up in the fetal position for fear that your sanity will be compromised. The Japanese sure do have a wide range of imagination, and that’s why we love ’em.
3. Convincing People It’s Not Just For Children
There’s this idea in other countries, particularly in the United States, that animation is only meant for kids. This stigma is of course ridiculous, as there is no quality inherent to animation that makes it more or less appropriate for any one particular age demographic. Anime in particular is especially diverse, as there are different genres for literally every type of person of any age group, ranging from the overly cute to the gratuitously violent. And even casual watchers of anime will tell you that there are types that no child should watch…
2. Defending Your Passion as An Anime Fan
There is a stigma associated with anime fans of them being too obsessive; accompanied with images of lonely man children living in sorrow while surrounded by body pillows and action figures. People may look at your passion for anime and question your state of mind. Or maybe they think you are a weirdo who dresses up as cartoon characters for fun. Too often you may find yourself having to explain yourself to people. None of that matters. You know why you like anime; it’s entertaining, funny, strange, sexy, and innovative. Some people may not get it, but frankly, they don’t know what they’re missing out on.
1. Wishing Life Was As Strange & Exciting
There is no denying the limitless quality of anime. The freeing nature of animation combined with the Eastern style of storytelling has given us some of the most imaginative worlds ever created. The life of an anime character is never dull; on the contrary, they are almost always full of excitement and adventure. Characters are often ripped from a life of complacency and forced to get involved with strange new people from places they never knew existed. Engage in enough of these stories and you just can’t help but wish life could be just as colorful, exciting, and insane. Life seems so limiting in comparison. At least we have anime to keep that spark in our imagination alive.

It’s no secret how much I love Ouran High School Host Club. With the exception of Miraculous Ladybug, I believe OHSHC is my most written about topic! And with how so many of you lovely readers seeming to like Ouran, I decided to do a post showcasing my favorite Ouran High School Host Club fanfiction.
Fanfiction is simply amazing anyway. I grew up reading off of fanfiction(dot)net so I’m still trying to get used to reading wattpad or A03. So, without further ado, here you go! I decided to the top 5 that I STILL read over and over again, even years later.
In need of a performing arts credit for her transcript, Haruhi seeks piano lessons from Tamaki. The result is a bit more bonding than either of them ever expected. When the heir is willing to give up anything for a commoner, what is the Suoh family to do?
Sequel to Broken and Healed, taking place shortly after where the final chapter left off. Haruhi takes on a serious case that soon puts her and her loved ones in danger, and reunites Haruhi with an old enemy.
After an eventful year, the Host Club decide to go on a Summer-long tour of Europe. What awaits our favourite Holidaying Host Club? Because things sure aren’t likely to go smoothly! Lots of TamaHaru! R&R!

You Might Like: Will Ouran High School Host Club get a second season?
We usually know how different manga and anime can be. Fans of Ouran High School Host Club weren’t too happy with the ending of the anime. Haruhi and Tamaki fell into a HUG instead of a kiss at the end, causing many fangirls to scream.
Despite the different endings in the manga and anime, who did YOU want to end up with Haruhi?
Well, most of us know who Haruhi’s ending up with, but I personally am also a Kyouya Ootori fan. Out of all the characters of the Ouran High School Host Club, he’s the only one I could properly match up with Haruhi. Haruhi’s smart. She’s there at Ouran Academy because she’s an honor student. Kyouya Ootori, like Haruhi, is an advanced thinker, therefore, he needs someone like Haruhi, who is another intellectual like him. I think it would allow for better communication for a serious relationship.
Also, Haruhi can quickly see past the “cool and uncaring” front Kyouya always has up, I think Kyouya needs someone that can dive into deeper water instead of just going with shallow appearances and status.
When I picture Haruhi with the other characters, I tend to find a lot of reasons why they should not be together, which is why I believe ultimately, Kyouya suits her best.
Tamaki, the second-best candidate, is much too dramatic and flirtatious. He also flaunts his money and status… a lot. Although Tamaki occasionally has a shining moment or two where he acts like a normal human being I just don’t think he fits Haruhi’s personality. I get the whole opposites to attract thing… but in a real-world situation, they wouldn’t always work. Basically, I think that Tamaki is a fun fling for Haruhi, but when it comes down to it… can I see them in a serious relationship? No way. For high school… maybe… for a serious life partner… I just can’t picture it.
As for Mori or Honey, well… they’re together. You can’t exactly have her paired with either because that means they’re not together. And how could you possibly break up such an adorable couple? It’s ironic because the creators actually intended for Haruhi to end up with Mori. I LOVE Mori-sempai as a character and want him to be happy, but I think he’s gay for Honey.
Now as for the twins… I’ve just never ever considered them serious candidates, they act more like brothers towards Haruhi than anything, even though Hikaru shows interest and Kaoru grudgingly accepts it. This is shown more in the anime than in the manga, but their character development does help them more.
Wouldn’t it be cute if the twins found a set of female twins that they fell in love with?
Each of the Host characters has such special places in my heart. I can’t really hurt any of them and I wanted all of them to end up happy. Since Haruhi ended up with Tamaki, I fell into the Kyoya and Renge ship. I mean, she’s just a complete otaku and I think she could keep him on his toes.

I would be surprised if you haven’t already heard of Ouran High School Host Club. I grew up watching it and find it just adorable. It’s one of those anime’s that make you laugh, cry, and shake your head and question why you’re even watching it. However, there seems to be a lot of speculation regarding if there will ever be a season two.
I disliked the ending of the anime. It felt so incomplete! And I mean…it’s Kiss Kiss Fall in Love, not HUG HUG Fall into Friendship! And I’m sure all you Ouran High School Host Club fans feel the same way. But if for some reason you HAVEN’T heard of this anime before, let me give you a brief rundown of its awesomeness.
The plot of the anime revolves around a young girl, Haruhi Fujioka, who is a student at Ouran Academy. The Academy is a high school for rich kids. One day she stumbles upon Music Room 3 of the school, where she finds that the room is used by six male students to entertain female students of the school. During the encounter with the host club, she accidentally breaks a vase which costs 8 million Yen. In order to repay it, she becomes a member of the host club, and her masculine attire and posture make it easy for her to look like a boy. She gains quite a popularity amongst the girls due to a natural disposition towards the gender and her entertaining instincts.
OHSHC Fandom
The anime originally ran in the year 2006 and it has been more than 10 years since it ended, therefore it had very rare chances of continuation. But the announcement created by Bisco Hatori may have caused the fandom to start to wonder if there was going to be a second season. She didn’t say too much, but all of it confirmed that Ouran HighSchool Host Club season 2 would keep fans guessing. Soon after that, in April 2016, one of the English voice actor of the show, Todd Haberkorn, posted a video where he said that the production team contacted him for the Ouran HighSchool Host Club season 2 and they will soon start working on it.
Well, ya’ll, it’s 2018 now and when I followed the links and sites to where they “said” this was happening…it turned out to be a prank. A mean, not very happy-making prank.
Update: It’s now 2020 and there’s still be little word other than a possible remake of the first season.
BUT! There is still hope for Ouran High School Host Club fans.
If you didn’t like the way the anime ended, you can read the manga that has a way better ending. The manga is complete and fully translated and there’s an 11 episode live action series and a 105-minute live action film that was made after the anime. If the anime wasn’t enough there’s plenty of other Ouran material. There’s some pretty good fanfiction for it. You can try “Duet” by MoonChild that’s a Tamaki and Haruhi pairing. Or Broken and Healed that’s a Haruhi and Karou pairing.
Fun fact, did you know Bisco Hatori initially intended for Mori and Haruhi to end up together? Weird, right? I’ll stick with Tamaki and Haruhi for now.
10 Anime Cosplay Costume You Can Do Right Now Cosplay is an escape. So many talented cosplayers have shown off their skills. Us otakus have little hope of copying them and recreating iconic looks. But here you can find GREAT deals on some of the best cosplays and make them look complete!
Natsu is one of my favorite characters in Fairy Tail. A friend of mine went ahead and did a gender-bend version of him and I went as Lucy to the Salt Lake City Comic-con. We had tons of photos taken and it was such a blast! Not to mention the range of characters to choose from are endless. There are so many ships, OTP’s, and characters that it makes this anime cosplay costume so easy to do!
Of course, Attack on Titan has risen in popularity, especially with the release of the second third season. The music is fantastic, and the characters are well-developed. I can’t wait to see more, especially with the cliffhanger they left us with! This anime cosplay costume has remained a cult classic for years and I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon. It’s almost up there with One Punch Man and One Piece.
Another favorite is Blue Exorcist. Rin reminds me so much of Gray Fullbuster (Fairy Tail) that I had to do a comparison piece. This is one of those anime shows that you expect to just be fluffy and it turns out to be one of those that makes me sob into your bowl of Cheetos.
4. Vocaloid
Now I know Vocaloid isn’t an anime, but tons of people love to cosplay Miku Hatsune!
Personally, I just love the style. If I had more bravery, I would wear something like this daily out to the store or the park. Sadly, right now the only place I can wear it is to other anime cons or my backyard for photoshoots.

6. Seraph of The End
Another anime that I didn’t expect to hit me so hard. Epic in every aspect. I need to go find more fanfiction of this awesome show so I can get my fix.
This is just one of those new anime cosplay costumes that people have just started to do. The anime itself is amazing and thought-provoking, the artwork is incredible and the soundtrack is something that you can listen to over and over again.
Who could forget the infamous scene where Ciel wore the pink dress? Though many of us were huge Sebastian fans, Ciel just has something about him that made him so likable.

Angels of Death
Seeing as how obsessed I am with Angels of Death, it’s only fitting that I put them in here as well. I love this anime that was made from an RPG game and the characters are so much to cosplay as!
While watching episode 20 of Ouran High School Host Club, I had an interesting thought…were Hikaru and Kaoru actually INFJ’s? The episode focused on the Hitachiin twins when they were first asked to join the Host Club and their past before.
Kaoru and Hikaru had a game that they played called “Which one is Hikaru game“. Naturally, as identical twins, not many people could guess correctly. In fact, in the anime history, it was just Tamaki Suoh and Haruhi Fujioka who guessed correctly.
They mentioned that they were inconsistent. That they just wanted to be noticed but left alone. And that actually falls right into the category for being an INFJ. INFJ’s are CONSTANTLY inconsistent and contradictory with their emotions and thoughts.
Out of the 16 Myers-Briggs personality types, INFJ type is believed to be the rarest. These uncommon jewels of the personality spectrum make up less than one percent of the population.
One of the things that differentiate INFJs from other introverted types is their easy and pleasant conversation style. They are known for being great verbal communicators.
To most friends and acquaintances, the INFJ type seems very sociable and extroverted. This can cause confusion when INFJs become overwhelmed and must withdraw from people. In truth, INFJs are just like other introverts in the sense that they are very selective with whom they consider real friends.
You would think an extroverted person would do this.
Like other intuitive introverts, INFJs sometimes struggle with external sensing perception. This means that they can become so absorbed in their inner world that they are oblivious to the physical world (now this I can relate to).
Hikaru and Karou are mostly only in their own little world until Tamaki invites them to the Host Club.
Just like INFJ’s, Kaoru and Hikaru have a tendency to think…
