  • What happened to Naruto in Boruto?

What happened to Naruto in Boruto?

Hello everyone, how is everyone doing? and welcome again back to MyAnimeGo, today we are talking about What happened to Naruto in Boruto?

At the beginning of the first chapter of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, we see Konoha village completely destroyed, the great stone faces are gone, Naruto and Sasuke are also nowhere to be found.

    And there was this;

    boruto-naruto-next-generations-is-naruto-dead

It’s left a lot of us who have followed the series since Naruto with a lot of questions and concerns. Where did he send Naruto to? Is Naruto still alive? What happened to the Kyuubi if he is? Do we really want to follow the story of Boruto if he is? Who’s the next Hokage if he is? So so many questions…..

After all, Naruto has been a significant character and face of the franchise for 20-years now.

Naruto and Sasuke have fought their way through enemies like the Akatsuki, Madara & Obito Uchiha and Kaguya just to name a few and they have evaded death each time and becoming godlike shinobi. At least till now.

We have watched our number one Knuckle-Headed Ninja move from genin to the seventh Hokage of Konoha with a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears. So it’s hard to believe there is nothing he can’t overcome. So how does he take a back seat or die in Boruto?

    what-happened-to-naruto-and-boruto

    What we know so far

Masashi Kishimoto is not the creator of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations but is merely in a supervisory role on the new manga. Probably because of his ownership of the original characters.

Ukyo Kodachi is the real author of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and has creative freedom to do whatever he wants with the manga. And he’s definitely making Boruto’s story his own.

A new villain has been revealed in the Boruto Manga

    Isshiki Ōtsutsuki

    jigen-isshiki-Ōtsutsuki-boruto-naruto-next-gene

Jigen whose possessed by the mysterious Isshiki Ōtsutsuki, a character adaptation that can be linked to Japanese folklore, like how Kaguya was influenced by the story of a little girl found in a bamboo tree who was actually a celestial being from the moon, expelled to Earth to live a mortal lifespan.

Isshiki was an inch-tall boy who fought a demon with a needle from its insides and stole its magic hammer that could make things grow or shrink. The power Jigen uses in his fight with Naruto and Sasuke is quite similar to that.

    jigen-powers-naruto-sasuke-boruto-next-gen

Naruto and Sasuke find themselves facing an opponent they can’t seem to beat no matter what they throw at him. They are both completely overpowered.

    naruto-sasuke-against-jigen-boruto-next-gene

Judging from the battle so far, Isshiki is far more powerful than Kaguya or the Sage of Six Paths, and I don’t think he fought at full power like them. So it’s starting to get clearer why maybe Naruto might not be around anymore. Against the alien god, Naruto and Sasuke seem to be reminded of their mortality. And we are not even sure if he’s the most powerful person in the Ōtsutsuki clan or the strongest being out there.

    naruto-sasuke-fighting-jigen-boruto-naruto-next-ge
    naruto-sasuke-isshiki-boruto-next-gen
    naruto-sasuke-isshiki-jigen-boruto-next-gen

Naruto is captured and Sasuke barely escapes. During their battle Isshiki seemed to be more worried about overexerting his fragile vessel Jigen than the attacks of the duo.

    sasuke-sakura

But here is the part that really caught my attention. The sadistic Isshiki instead of killing Naruto wants him to suffer mentally and not just physically for interrupting his plans of capturing Kawaki. So he seals Naruto away in a kettle-like coffin, which cuts his chakra off from the real world.

    isshiki-sealing-naruto-boruto-next-gene

    So have we found out what Kawaki meant when he said;

I’ll send you where I sent the Seventh Hokage.”

Maybe Isshiki has possessed Kawaki or maybe it’s just Kawaki that has sealed Naruto away again. Sure killing Naruto would but a lot more spotlight on Boruto but it’s a double-edged sword that could help the manga or reduce it’s readers.

I mean sealing Naruto away would be a way of carrying the old readers along and making sure we keep reading to see when Naruto would be unsealed, all the while trying to win us over to loving Boruto has much as we like Naruto.

What happened to Naruto and Boruto-next-gen

But then again Kodachi killing off a key character like Naruto would definitely help in removing the spotlight from the old generation and putting it more on Boruto’s generation.

We can all admit that Naruto is no longer the main character, apart from being a well-loved character and supervisor now like his creator Masashi Kishimoto, his story has ended. While Boruto’s is just getting started – interesting or boring, the touch has been passed on.

However, if our number one Knuckle-Headed Ninja leaves the story he won’t go without a fight, cause that is his ninja way.

  • Yuno Gasai x Yukiteru Amano love story? [September 2019 OWLS Tour]

Yuno Gasai x Yukiteru Amano love story? [September 2019 OWLS Tour]

When it comes to romantic relationships, what do we look for in a partner? What core values do we seek when it comes to building a healthy and loving relationship? For this topic, we will be discussing some of our favourite couples in pop culture and what they have taught us about love and relationships, the good and the bad.

Hello everyone, it’s been a while. This is our topic for the OWLS this month of September titled “Lover”. We all have our thoughts of what we want and look for in a partner or i.e lover, but I think there are some fundamental things we all look for, so I wanted to try to identify some of those traits. I had so many ideas for this topic but I really thought Mirai Nikki also know as The Future Diary was what really fit for this topic.

The Future Diary is an iconic show and cultural phenomenon, that I felt really popularized the “yandere” female character in anime. It explores human nature, how we relate and what drives us. And most especially to me puts a spotlight on relationships and the ups and downs that come with it.

Even though everything is cranked up to 11. The Future Diary is really unique to me because of its large cast and its ability to show us views from the perspective of each character, showing us everyone has a story to tell, “even the devil was once an angel” is the best way to describe it I think.

    Yukiteru Amano and Yuno Gasai from Mirai Nikki are definitely not your average anime couple. I think Yuno describes them well with a quote she uses to describe herself;

A half-moon. A bright half and a dark half. Just like me. – Yuno Gasai

    future-diary-yuki-yuno-gasai-yandere-mirai-nikki
I just had to use this cause I thought they looked cute in this…

    Yukiteru the bright half and Yuno the dark half, both not completely whole without the other. The show examines normal issues we all have even though it’s in a much darker tone, its in a subtle way, it has lessons to teach us about how a healthy relationship should be. Like;

    Seeing the cracks

No one is completely perfect, so learning to accept and love the person despite their faults is part of the whole process of love. And it’s something I think we all have to learn.

Just like Yukiteru learns to with Yuno personality of being overprotective and Yuno with Yukiteru indecisiveness. They can both be seen as polar opposite in the way they reason and think but they learn to love each other.

    future-diary-yuki-yuno-gasai-yandere-mirai-nikki

    Trust

Yuno might have an “interesting” way of showing her love for Yukiteru but no one can doubt her unwavering complete love to him. She trusts him, and that’s an important pillar for the foundation of any relationship.

Trust is the number one thing I think we all search for and value most. Which can be formed from a deeper understanding of knowing each other like the back of your own hand, knowing what the other can or can’t do.

    future-diary-yuki-yuno-gasai-yandere-mirai-nikki

    Teamwork

Adapted from the Roman god Jupiter, who hates direct confrontation and his wife Juno who is warlike, Yukiteru and Yuno also make up for each others shortcomings. Working together during the survival game and showing how teamwork in a relationship is important.

    Never a piece of cake

After getting together once, breaking up, being kidnapped by Yuno, and all the hurled they go through. He goes through a lot to save his Princess.

Somehow they both come through the fire that is their life stronger and all relationships go through this not as twisted as the plot of The Future Diary but all relationship have their hurdles.

    future-diary-yuki-yuno-gasai-yandere-mirai-nikki

    And like Irina from drunkenanimeblog said about love;

Once in a while, it’s worth holding onto someone, even if it makes your arms hurt.

If you are still here thank you for sticking around to the end of my ramblings. Leave me a comment on your views, I would love to hear them. Till next time keep showing that special someone you really care.

Also hope you have read Lyn post over at lynlynsays with her own take on Lover and tomorrow you should definitely not miss Takuto’s OWLS post over at Takuto’s Anime Cafe.

  • 6 Anime Like Dororo

    6 Anime Like Dororo

So 6 anime that are similar to Dororo?, hello everyone. So you want to watch another anime with a moody dark tone about love, greed, revenge and betrayal.

Dororo was produced by Tezuka Productions and MAPPA, and is the brainchild of Osamu Tezuka- who is considered “the father of manga”. For creation of classics like Astro Boy.

    And for those not familiar with Dororo yet;

Dororo is an anime that follows the story of Hyakkimaru, whose greedy and selfish father Kagemitsu Daigo, sacrifices his body to demons to gain power (yes he won’t be winning any father of the year awards). We Follow Hyakkimaru has he defeats demons to regain his body with a mischievous child Dororo. Now back to the main topic:

    So with Dororo over, what can you use to fill that space, you asked and I answered;

    Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit

    moribito_guardian_of_the_spirit

Episodes 26| Aired April 2007 | Produced by Production I.G

Moribito is an anime series that like Dororo follows two strangers who meet by chance, Prince Chagum– the emperor’s son and whose also thought to be the reincarnation of a water demon that is causing drought to their empire, so therefore most be sacrificed. And Balsa– the kick butt heroine who saves the prince’s life during an assassination attempt and later begged by his mother to keep him safe.

The same themes are present as in Dororo from the emphasis on the beauty of life, nature, family and the bonds that can be fromed by two strangers who embark on this journey together.

    Katanagatari

    katanagatari

Episodes 12| Aired January 2010 | Produced by White Fox

Katanagatari is set in the edo period Japan, where the Shogunate and samurai are still very active and ruling. And there are many different sword-fighting techniques.

We follow Shichika Yasuri–a wielder of a sword technique that uses his own body as a blade. He is also the seventh head of the Kyotouryuu school, living quietly with his sister Nanami.

Until he meets ths strategist Togame, who he falls for. She has been sent by the Shogunate to retrieve 12 unique swords called “Deviant Blades”, he accept to help her on her mission because he likes her. So their dangerous adventure beings.

Katanagatari similarities to Dororo is in it historic setting and our two characters, Shichika and Togame whose continued association on their journey to retrieve the 12 swords, causes major developmental growth in both characters. Making them both better and more relatable.

    Afro Samurai

    afro-samurai

Episodes 5| Aired May 2007 | Produced by Gonzo

Afro after witnessing the death of his father in a dual with a man named Justice for the Number One headband. Afro vows revenge against Justice who killed his father for the Number One headband.

But there is a catchy on his path to vengeance he has to possess the Number Two headband, if he wishes to fight the new Number One. And even after possessing the Number Two headband, he will have to fight pretty much everyone in the world people to get to the Number One. Because unlike the Number One, the Number Two can be challenged by anyone.

Afro Samurai to me is similar to Dororo in it’s setting of samurai and the moral lessons, it constantly resounds in us that “how far is too far?” on our path to revenge. Is revenge really done for what is lost to us? or really more for us to find a way to cope with our loss. Are we really hurting anyone but ourselves has we chase revenge? and What remains after, of us when we have carried out our revenge?

    Samurai Champloo

    samurai champloo fuu jin mugen

Episodes 26| Aired May 2004 | Produced by Manglobe

Samurai Champloo follows three unlikely pair Fuu, Jin and Mugen. Brought together by chance but stuck together by choice or blackmail?, out of a debt to pay to Fuu after saving them from being executed.

They follow her on a wild adventure to different places in their search for the samurai that smells of sunflowers.

Samurai Champloo and Dororo are similar in the delight you will get in watching them on their journey, it really makes you feel like you are setting out on an adventure. Characters having both minor and major goals they wish to accomplish, which make them more relatable. Both animes have an historical setting and many interesting characters they meet along the way, also with their minor or major goals that make them very human like instead of just 2 dimensional characters.

Stranger: Mukou Hadan (Sword of the Stranger)

    stranger-mukou-hadan-sword-of-the-stranger)

Episodes 1| Aired September 2007 | Produced by Bones

We follow the story of an orphan boy named Kotarou, his dog Tobimaru and Nanashi a ronin. Having a random encounter in a small temple, where they are attacked by assassins sent by the China’s Ming Dynasty to kill Kotarou but the two are saved by Nanashi.

After Kotarou offers Nanashi a gem in exchange for his continued protection and escort to their destination, he agrees and dangerous journey with many twists and turns begins.

Sword of the Stranger shares similarities to Dororo with it’s historical setting, main characters being similar in both series are young, orphaned and streetwise youth, with a strong and older brotherly figure. Growth for both character, happen also from having the other at their side. The duo feed of each others being, making them become more relatable characters.

    Berserk

    berserk-guts-casca-schierke-puck-serpico-farnese-isidro

Episodes 49+Movies| Aired October 1997 | Produced by OLM / Millepensee, GEMBA

Berserk is an amazing story that is hard to know where to begin from explaining it, like Dororo it’s a story filled with love, loss, greed, betrayal, revenge and so much more, just with the story more gritty, darker and mature.

We meet Guts a mercenary with an horrible childhood, who finds some one he respects and trusts, only to be betrayed and have everything taken from him right in front of his eyes by the person he thought was a friend, in the most gruesome way possible.

So that’s my top 6 animes similar to Dororo, is there one you think should be on the list, leave it in the comment section below we are always glad to hear from our readers. Till next time continue to watch anime……

Cowboy Bebop finding Your Way Home [Space is the Place]

Hello travellers and thank you K for guiding our travellers here. Welcome to your next stop on your journey through the cosmos. Welcome to MA2 a planet that is both chaotic and peaceful all at once.

    Planet – MA2

I’ll be your guide now for this stop in your space exploration and help you on your way after. And for our new travellers just waking up from stasis, welcome to the international space themed blog collaboration!!

Welcome to space travellers, I love space so much, I signed up for this immediately I found out about this and I’m taking all my wonderful readers with me.

    cowboy-bebop-swordfish-2

So as you go on this wonderful interstellar adventure, I would like to remind you of your most important gift that will help you on your journey, “Free Will or Choices” – your ability to make your own future and some of the choices you made lead you here. I will use an amazing anime to explain this – Cowboy Bebop.

    Cowboy Bebop

    cowboy-bebop-spike-speigel-jet-black-faye-valentine-edward-ein-friends-bounty-hunters-anime

Cowboy Bebop is set in a space western setting following two bounty hunters, Spike and Jet, and two women; the always in depth Faye Valentine and the computer kid genius Edward. Chasing wanted criminals through the solar system to earn money, on their ship the Bebop.

    Episodes: 26

    StudioSunrise

    Aired: Spring 1998

It was a show that took us on a lot of highs, lows and unpredictability, a really great adventure with each episode. I just honestly wanted it to last forever honestly, till I was sick of the amazing main cast but still seeing them on air each week with a new adventure. cowboy Bebop was a show that celebrate our ability of free will – the freedom to choose what we want.

    I think Alisa, Jet’s ex-girlfriend explains just what that freedom we are blessed with is;

“That’s just how you were back then, you decided everything; in the end you were always right. When I was there with you I never had to do anything for myself. All I had to do was to hang onto your arm like a child without a care in the world. I wanted to live my own life; make my own decisions, even if they were terrible mistakes.”— Alisa

Choices or Free Will, whatever you want to call it, are what shaped, shapes and shapings our lifes to what it is. Cowboy Bebop represent this theme very well.

It’s an anime I felt was very human like, with its good qualities and flaws. Choices have to be made in life and we won’t always be able to know the outcome especially when it’s about your dreams or passions.

It resounded in me the thought of being courageous enough to make those choices even if it was crippling terrifying. Cowboy Bebop shows us that it is ok to not have all the answers or to always be right, but choices have to be made in life.

And that’s ok as long as we are making those decisions, we can dust ourselves off when we fall and keep moving foward with pride.

    spike-spiegel-in-bandages

Choices are a part of life, it shouldn’t scare us and we shouldn’t leave decisions in our lifes to be handled by someone else, we are captain’s of our ships, even if along the journey we have co-captains.

    Space is the Place

Like all good things Cowboy Bebop reminds us that all great adventures have to come to a end eventually. And we are now at the end of my tour, It time for me to send you off on your way to your next stop the planet When Sirius Writes.

    Space is the Place Banner

Thank you for staying to the very end, till we meet again have. I wish you only joy and happiness as you explore the cosmos.

  • Does Tomura Shigaraki have All For One?

Does Tomura Shigaraki have All For One?

Does Tomura Shigaraki have the quirk All for One? Hey everyone and thank you for stopping by, this is a thought I had one day while rewatching Boku no Hero Academia the fight between All Might and All For One.

I mean All For One as named Tomura Shigaraki his protégé and would explain to me why it seemed All For One really was not fighting to win but just to delay or have a go at it again with All Might. He seemed like a man who had his affairs in order.

Before we start, thank you everyone who sent me messages while I was off, really appreciate them and everyone who reads my ramblings. And “No” am not quiting it’s just been a busy couple of weeks.

    So before we get into all my theories or theory of if he has the power or not. Let’s take a quick look at;

    Who is Tomura Shigaraki?

Does Tomura Shigaraki have All for One

We first see him in the U.S.J. Arc as one of the main antagonist. Shigaraki is a villian I just fell in love with the first time I saw him. He reminds me of the Joker and Madara Uchiha combined, who when we first meet him can be childish, taking everything as a game and having a tantrum when things are not going his way. But as the story progresses we see a more calculating villian with long term plans for achieving his goals.

A real manipulative madman, he wants to kill All Might, “the symbol of peace”, destroying the society he represents and creating one in his own image, with his own form of justice. He most time doesn’t seem to care for his or almost anyone else’s life, having no problem about evil deeds like killing. He is fuelled by hate, hating everything and everyone.

We do get to understand the reason why he is the way he is. When we learn more about his past.

    Tomura Shigaraki as a child

Feeling great love and remorse for his deceased family who he accidentally kills when he loses control of his quirk. The hands he wears all over himself are the remains of his loved ones. He states wearing them make him feel sick and yet calm at the same time. He’s a very real and believable villian.

Theories about Tomura Shigaraki acquiring All For One?

    • Shigaraki has not inherited All For One

    Because;

    He Needs More Time

All For One is a quirk that allows it’s user to steal others quirks making them their own and even combining the stolen quirks. Also allowing the user to give stolen quirks to other people.

All For One has acquire a lot of quirks over the many many many years he’s been alive. That definitely a lot of power to put into anyone if they are not prepared for it.

Shigaraki needs time to develop like Izuku Midoriya needed time, to get his mind and body ready for One For All.

His quirk is more complex than it seems

The delay in giving him All For One are due to another theory I have.

That Tomura Shigaraki decay quirk is a mutation like Eri, whose quirk gives her the ability to physically rewind something she comes in contact with.

What if Shigaraki quirk is not actually decay but physically forwarding something he comes in contact with.

That would explain All For One’s experimentation on Nomus, to figure out how to get Shigaraki ready for his quirk All For One.

    Eri and Tomura

Eri and Shigaraki do share striking similarities both having white hair and red eyes, which could be the physical appearance of mutated quirk users. That would explain why All For One has not passed it to him.

So there will be a need for a prison break Arc so that Shigaraki can inherit All For One.

    • Tomura Shigaraki already has All For One

Shigaraki does let us know more about his past while he was confiding in Himiko and Twice, about how hard it is siding with those that wounded him. He seems to have vague memories of what happened the day he awakens and losses control of his quirk killing his family and meeting All For One.

tomura shigaraki sitting on a throne

So what if this was all All For One’s doing, Shigaraki’s partial memory lose and everything that happen that day. And All For One has already passed on his quirk to him.

Shigaraki doesn’t just remember or he was just pretending and he’s hiding the quirk for now. That would explain why recovery for All For One is hard and why he’s been hiding in the shadows.

And the fight with All Might was also just an ember of what remained of his quirk. So it was two of the greatest quirk users making their final solo stand.

all might and all for one
    This showdown was epic……
    • All For One is just playing another game
    My-Hero-Academia-Episode-60-all-for-one-smiling

All For One is tricking everyone

I would not put it pass All For One to just be manipulating Shigaraki and not having any intention of passing his quirk on to him or maybe we are the ones misunderstanding what he means by making Shigaraki, his protégé.

He does seem genuine about making him the next underworld ruler. But this is All For One we are talking about I don’t think a person who has lived for so long might be willing to just give that up.

All For One and Tomura Shigaraki are the same

He could be using Shigaraki to return to his prime self. Maybe it’s an Orochimaru-Sasuke situation, And All For One has some mind tranfer quirk.

Or maybe Shigaraki has not been Shigaraki for a long time now or some sort of shared conciseness thing.

    Shigaraki smiling
    All For One is Shigaraki…..

Well either way we will just have to wait and see what the author of My Hero Academia, Kohei Horikoshi has in store for us.

So that’s all I have for you, any theory you have or thoughts you have please let me know in the comments section. Thank you for sticking around to the end.

For my old readers thanks for all your support and my new readers “welcome!!!“, hope you enjoyed reading this and you stick around.

Till next time keeping trying to smile, watch anime, read manga, play games and just be happy.

  • Worst Anime of All Time!

    Worst Anime of All Time!

You always see lists of all the best anime of all time but it’s rare to see them for the WORST anime of all time. So I decided to bug my roommates and ask around to see what people thought the worst anime of all time would be.

    FLCL aka Fooly Cooly

FLCL has been labeled as a masterpiece and something pleasantly different. If an anime show has this much praise, the I’m expecting something enjoyable and funny.

Sadly, FLCL did not offer anything but pain.

There is absolutely no story behind this anime. It is just six episodes of disjointed scripts that attempt to fuse together as many genres as possible then injected with pointless crude humor.

Many would argue that this show is nothing but a random and nonsensical arrangement of spontaneous events. It’s full of pointless and meaningless slapstick humor that cheapens the show, makes it impossible to take seriously as an anime and gives it a “loony toons” vibe of immaturity.

    Aho Girl

Overall, if you are looking for a short anime with endless comedy gags with no clear story or plot but just laughter, then this anime is for you. It’s slightly lewd, but over the top comedy.

However, Aho Girl is also painful to watch. While doing a comedy list, I came across this anime. I made it about five minutes before I caved. Seriously, this anime made me want to bang my head against a wall and scream. More so than Diabolic Lovers ever did.

First and foremost, this show is simply not funny. Aho Girl makes a spectacle of itself – presenting faux-meaningful observations; idolizing its vapid female lead; overindulging in panty shots; while accomplishing absolutely nothing in the end.

The testament of Sister New Devil or Shinmai Maou no Testament

In my opinion this show is just bad.

First of all half, the show is unwatchable. Half of the show is white bars of light covering the screen during the more sexual oriented scenes. I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t like staring at anything for almost 3 to 5 minutes at a time, with an occasional face or backside appearing in a shot.

Second, the story is just so messy and all over the place. Most of the story makes little to no sense, due to plot holes. You may argue that it isn’t about the story, but the point is the story tries to bring in characters and world building it didn’t even need.

Overall, feel free to disagree, but there is so much holding this series back. There are some interesting ideas sprinkled here and there, but not a single one of them were represented properly here. This is simply a mediocre show, just not worth anyone’s time, not even the most hardcore of ecchi anime fans.

    HAKYUU HOUSHIN ENGI

I love the Houshin Engi manga, so when I saw it was going to receive another anime, I was hopeful this one would cover the whole story and do a decent job on its adaptation. Sadly, I was wrong. The first episode already shows big differences between the two. The story is badly told. You can’t understand much if you don’t know it already.

I still recommend the manga, but this anime shouldn’t exist.

Most viewers will not like this anime for two simple reasons: It’s not very good and most of all, not very enjoyable either. It walks the path of mediocrity without even trying to be anything. The outcome is very bland and a total lackluster.

This adaptation did surprisingly many questionable choices. First and foremost is the lack of introduction. Viewers are quite directly thrown into a random world around random characters. Nothing is explained, things just somewhat are there and stuff happens because it does.

THE MASTER OF RAGNAROK & BLESSER OF EINHERJAR or Hyakuren no Haou to Seiyaku no Valkyria

Even when stacked up against Isekai abominations like Death March and Isekai wa Smartphone, it still somehow manages to be even worse! In fact, this might just be the worst Isekai anime that I’ve seen to date, and considering the generally poor quality of the genre, that’s really saying something. So yes, this anime is definitely incredible!

    Incredibly bad.

This anime doesn’t even bother to start with the protagonist getting inexplicably transported to a fantasy world. When we’re introduced to him, he’s already been in another world for two years, so it’s almost like this isn’t even an Isekai anime. Anyway, our protagonist, named Super Ultra Omnipotent Usurper, or Suou for short, is a perfect being in every way! He’s the most morally just and relatable character ever, is a military genius, and, most importantly, gets all the women! Actually, only the latter is true, but the anime still desperately tries to give him character traits that make him more than just a chick magnet.

    Too bad they fail miserably.

Suou is a conqueror, plain and simple. Not of nations, but of women. Yet what makes him stand out from his fellow Kirito clones? Well, Suou is unique in that when he claims a girl as his property, he makes her a part of his “family.” That’s right, this guy forces his women to become his little sisters and daughters. Then makes them address him as “papa” and “big brother.” He also doesn’t seem to give a crap about his soldiers and doesn’t bat an eye when they’re slaughtered in combat. And the best part is that the writers still try to portray him as an “I am holier than thou” type of character.

Thanks to the solar-powered smartphone that Suou just so happens to have, our hero is able to look up military tactics of great historical leaders like Alexander the Great and Sun Tzu and implement them in battles. Of course, you really can’t tell what battle strategies are being used during fight scenes due to the hideous visuals that make everything look like an utter mess.

A random red haired dude in this anime wisely said “the details don’t matter.” I think the writers must have taken that sentence to heart. Nothing about this anime makes any sense. The plot goes nowhere, and the characters are painfully bland and annoying.

    Goblin Slayer

“Anyone who likes/dislikes this show is a Nazi/Libtard.” – The state of the anime community after episode 1.

I think it’s fair to say that no other anime has caused such controversy and overwhelming divide amongst anime fans after a single episode like Goblin Slayer has. A scene lasting around fifteen seconds featuring a character being raped receiving more condemnation than every other anime airing this year.

So, feel free to watch Goblin Slayer if you enjoy dark-fantasy and have a tolerance for uncomfortable content. Or skip it, because truth told, Goblin Slayer was never really worth caring that much about in the first place.

    Hanoka

Hanoka was the very first full fledged anime series to be animated completely in Flash. This is a terrible mistake. The flash makes the animation look unnatural, especially when viewing the characters. The faces and heads do not look right at all, and the faces show no expression on them what so ever. I do applaud the makers for trying flash, but it appears that the technology has come nowhere close to make it worthwhile.

I’m not really sure what I expected from this show initially. I’m all for new techniques used in any kind of context, and given that this Anime series had been animated entirely in Flash format, I thought of it as perhaps something exciting.

Throughout the show, we see the usual, predictable scenes such as “I’ll fight to protect you”, “he gave me a reason to live”, and “aagh you fatally injured him and now my powers increased tenfold because of my emotional distress”. The originality of the show is close to zero. No, if it’s a proper story you’re looking for, then this isn’t it.

Also the ending has got to be the worst ending I have ever seen to an anime series. Terrible does not even begin to describe Hanoka.

    Ghost Stories Gakkou no Kaidan

The thing about this anime is that it is actually REALLY really bad. It bombed in Japan and it is easy to see why.

    However……

Aniplex was handed the English dub of the show, knowing it was a failure in Japan and it SEEMS they didn’t take the dub too seriously. So what do we get? The best dub that has ever been done ever.
Let me try to explain; the voice actors decided to add really adult jokes, often breaking the fourth wall and mocking the show itself. It’s like a fandub with comedians or an Abridged series, but full episodes.

To me, there was a certain formula for watching this show. It’s definitely not a series someone should marathon. Nope, it should be enjoyed an episode or two at a time. Any more and you’ll find yourself sick of the studpidity.
Ghost stories is so bad it’s good. The show gets most of its fame from being so awful and the dub so hilarious.

My advice to you is to watch the Dub. Bear in mind, the adult humor may be offputting to younger audiences. Or if you get offended easily, then please do NOT watch this. Ghost Stories English dub tries to be offensive to everyone and it succeeds.

So, what do you think? Do you agree with this list? What animes do you hate? Let me know in the comments below!

  • Making Everything Anime!

    Making Everything Anime!

Making everything anime is something I think all we anime otaku do, whenever we read a book, watch a movie, series and even some parts of our daily live encounters, we are all gulity of every now and then wondering what it would be like if we were living in an anime world.

Hey everyone am back again, sorry I have been busy but I have been working on the new look of the blog so that’s also kept me busy. Thank you for being patient with me and Irina a fellow aniblogger for recommending the new theme. It really allows me to be more creative.

So I was tagged for my second time in an amazing and always fun to read tag that has been going around “Make it Anime”.

You can just imagine how excited I was, when I was finally tagged for this. So what are the rules for this tag, you ask? they are:

    • Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog post.

Thanks again Irina for tagging me into this, and I loved you ideas to by the way they would make really interesting animes.

    anime hugs
thank you so much for including me…
    • Choose 1 Book, Movie and TV show of your choice that you think could work as an anime. (A series of books or movies is allowed e.g. Lord of the Rings, Hunger Games)
    • If you want to pick more than 1 from each section that’s fine. Or if you can’t think of one for a specific category that’s fine also.
    • Explain why you think your choices could work as an anime. Maybe the advent of animation would enhance it, maybe the different anime genres could help expand and improve the story. Just go crazy with it.
    • Link back to the original post so I can read people’s suggestions, I’d love to read everyone’s ideas.

We have Average Joe’s to thank for creating this awesome tag, also for the little fustration we feel since some of the ideas I have read so far are just really good I wish they really were anime.

    • Include Make it Anime in your tags so everyone including myself can find them all easily.Nominate around 5-10 bloggers.

    So let’s get started:

    Book

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

He’s a wallflower. You see things. You keep quiet about them. And you understand. -Patrick

Watching a social awkward Charlie, free spirited Emma, her stepbrother Patrick and friends helping charlie to stop sitting on the side lines of life and start living it was fun to read.

I mean who wouldn’t love an anime adaption of this. I loved the movie and book so much, It was a great coming of age book, with drama, romance and would make a wonderful slice of life.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower anime version

    Movie

    300

One word Seinen. 300 was a great film filled with blood, gore, a message of freedom and what men and women are ready to do when their freedom is threatened.

Especially with all the msytical beings and whole world in general, I really think there is a lot more that can be done with 300.

I mean their is a lot more world building that could be done. And am sure am not the only one who would like to see the early life of Leonidas, I mean a lot happened to shape him into the man he was.

    300 sparta anime

    TV Show

    Saved by the Bell

It was a show I loved watching as a kid for the laughs and adventure of school life. From navigating relationships, final exams, school dances, break ups and all the while trying to avoid getting in trouble with their principal.

They were a group of friends from all the social circles that usually wouldn’t hangout together, we had a cheerleader, a jock, a feminist, a fashionista and a nerd all friends going through the ups and downs of Bayside High School.

I think J.C Staff would be a great pick to turn this into an anime and would be able to enhance the whole series but still leave all it’s usual charm of teenagers growing up and trying to find their way in life.

    saved by the bell anime

So that’s it for me I really enjoyed being tagged into this. Let me know what you think.

And thank you for sticking around to the end.

    Favorite Fate Character: A Collaboration

A little while ago, Michael from FearReview.com asked to do a collaboration piece of our favorite Fate Characters. Of course, I was excited to be able to write this article and hopefully bring more attention to some of my favorite Fate characters. We decided to pick our favorite human and servant character. This was his piece and I’m excited to see his take on the Fate characters and have a new guest poster!

    Favorite Human Character:

Personally, I love the human characters best in Fate.  Though we all love the spectacle of Heroic Spirits clashing in spectacular contests, for me, Fate is really about notions of heroism.  At the same time, “a hero of justice must have a villain to defeat.”

That is why my favorite human character in Fate is Kirei Kotomine, the “genuine fake priest.”

Kirei plays a role in all 3 routes of Fate stay/night & is basically a deuteragonist in Fate/zero.  He proves himself an excellent foil to both Kiritsugu & Shirou Emiya.

As a villain, Kirei performs numerous evil acts, but underneath his despicable surface lies a man with a broken heart.  You can see Kirei come into his own in Fate/zero, but his TRUE character peaks in the last part of Heaven’s Feel.  I look forward to seeing him in full villain-ly glory next year in the last Heaven’s Feel movie.  REJOICE!

    Favorite Servant Character:

Though Fate/apocrypha does not match Fate/stay night or Fate/zero IMO, it nonetheless contains my favorite Servant:  The Indian Hero Karna, whose exploits were chronicled in the Hindu epic The Mahabharata

I knew nothing of Karna prior to watching Apocrypha, but the demigod quickly distinguished himself with his amazing design and overwhelming power.  In fact, he is SO POWERFUL, that Karna is one of the only Heroic Spirits who the mighty Gilgamesh respects!  Though Gil may play around with even monsters like Artoria & Heracles, his response on encountering Karna is to instantly back away out of melee range & get serious.

Yet for all his might, Karna lacks Gil’s arrogance, & though he suffered greatly in his myth, he retains a strong morality & sense of honor.  His climactic battle against Sieg at the end of Fate/apocrypha showcases the true glory of Heroic Spirits, both in power & heroism.

And there you have it! Michael from FearReview.com’s take on his favorite Fate Human and Servant Character. What do you think? Who are YOUR favorites? Let us know in the comments below!

  • Does Kakashi Hatake have a son?

Does Kakashi Hatake have a son?

Does Kakashi Hatake have a son? and am I the only one curious about this. Hay everyone, so I been wanting to write about this but haven’t been having enough time to sit down and get it done.

With the beginning of the new series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations we saw that almost everyone has already settled down, apart from Kakashi, Guy and maybe a few others.

But Kakashi not settling down, really bugs me, especially after seeing the new generation of konoha ninjas, I just felt it wasn’t fair not having a little copy ninja running around.

    Karneval Nai Karoku smiling
    cute little copy ninja jr.

I mean he’s such a great ninja and everyone has a little one why can’t he. I mean does that mean he never found happiness and you know what I mean.

I know having a wife and kids doesn’t make or prove you are happy. I just feel there is someone for everyone, so why couldn’t Kakashi find his or did he ?

So let’s look at reasons why Kakashi might not have wanted to settle down.

The Real Reason Why Kakashi Isn’t Married ?

    To try and figure this out let’s have a quick refresher on his past;

    • He grew up as an orphan when his father killed himself, after going against orders and being discriminated for this. This did a number on Kakashi and made him believe that the orders a ninja was given should always be absolute.
    • He had to carry the burden and regret of his best friend Obito and fellow team mate Rin dying, which he felt was all his faults, caused my his inadequacies.
    • Dealing with his sensei’s death (Minato)
    • He couldn’t keep Sasuke on the straight and narrow path, when he became the Sensei of team 7
    • He was never able to finish reading his favourite series of novels he loved because of the death of the author (Jiraya)

Kakashi life has always been very difficult, it’s a very emotionally draining one that would make most of us unhinged.

picture that shows all of kakashi tragedies

It’s not hard to believe that at some point, he would become scared of loving or subconsciously avoid loving things. Believing that everything he seems to loves dissappears or dies.

I mean even once Kishimoto stated that in reality he didn’t make Kakashi finding the girl of his life simply because he keeps his face always covered.

Or was it that Kakashi didn’t want to build a family because it would have made him weak in front of his enemies, since he would have had something more to lose or something more to care about in those life or death situations of being a ninja.

Or could Kakashi Hatake have been playing one on us all these years. I have my doubts after watching this episode of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and seeing this boy.

    Houki Taketori
    Houki Taketori

Yes I know they don’t have the same surname and yes he could just be another fan boy of the legendary 6th Hokage.

But it is possible he’s Kakashi’s son, I mean Naruto’s through parentage was hidden from him because of all the enemies the fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze and his wife Kushina Uzumaki because of her bloodline had.

Does Kakashi Hatake have a son ?

Am sure the 6th Hokage is not lacking in the department of “enemies who would try to get to him through his loved ones.”

Maybe hiding in plain sight as a 6th Hokage fan might be the way to go. And maybe am just over thinking this but he as had love interests, lets look into that.

    Kakashi Hatake’s love interest?

    Starting off the list of women Kakashi could have fathered a child;

    • Rin Nohara
    Rin Nohara

This technically doesn’t count since it was a one sided love. Kakashi has never shown interest with her other than keeping his promise he had with Obito which he failed at keeping by the way.

    rin and kakashi naruto
Ooo unrequited love, we can always imagine though
    • Kahyo
    Kakashi Hiden

Well Kahyo some of you might not know she’s from a spin-off novel Kakashi Hiden: Lightning In The Icy Sky, it is set shortly after Sasuke’s departure from the Hidden Leaf. Part of Naruto Hiden (a.k.a. Naruto Secret Chronicles) is a light novel series which explores the stories of various characters after the conclusion of the original manga. This one shows how Kakashi becomes the 6th Hokage.

Kakashi seemed to fall for her. Shes a ninja that is at a Kage skill level using ice release justu. Even going one on one with Raikage Ay and winning the training fight.

They meet at a point were she’s join a group that follow Madera way’s and they are trying to take down the system and at the end she ends up serving a life sentence as the warden of blood prison, so is there a chance there really.

It’s implied though that there was something going on between them, I mean with the last line of the novel being,

“Spring time is around the corner”

which in Japan is often a sign of blossoming love

Even if logic and reason point otherwise, I means she even says her job as the warden of blood prison keeps her really busy.

But Kakashi literally chases Naruto across Konoha to reprimand him for spreading rumors about him being head-over-heels for Kahyo, and while those could be the actions of an innocent or a guilty man, the actual letter he sends her is fairly innocent and she does say she’s happy now, could it be because of love who knows.

    Kakashi blushing
    Awwwww…
    • Hanare
    Hanare & Kakashi

Where to start with Hanare and Kakashi to me this is the most probable person he could have had a child with.

Hanare is a kunoichi and spy from the Jōmae Village. As a young child, Hanare was said to be very lonely since she had never known her family or seen her own village. I think they really connected on an emotional level more than any of the other women on our list.

They both clearly had feelings for each other and I really felt our copy ninja was in love. There was a scene in the beginning of episode 191, where he sees a girl acting like Hanare and he whispers her name.

He seemed really sad and seemed to miss her, and this is from a guy who keeps his emotions suppressed as much as possible so for him to show such emotions I felt he most be deeply in love with her.

    Hanare & Kakashi

    Or maybe the only relationship Kakashi wants are;

    His Dogs

    kakashi and his dogs

I mean they have been with him forever and they are mans best friends.

    His Mask

    kakashi mask blushing
I mean he as two spares just in case something happens to the first one

Well either way I guess we can hope and dream, that maybe love conquered one of the coolest Ninjas in Narutoverse.

    Hanare with Kakashi
    Hanare X Kakashi is a theory I am behind a 100%

So that’s all I have for you, any theory you have or thoughts let me know in the comments section. Thank you for sticking around to the end and reading my ramblings and for my old readers thanks for all your support. Till next time keeping trying to smile.

  • Why is One Piece so Popular?

Why is One Piece so Popular?

There are really a bunch of reasons to like One Piece. It’s got a very likable main cast of characters, with tons of memorable supporting characters and antagonists. The One Piece universe as a whole is one of the more fleshed-out ones I’ve come across, and it just seems like so much about the world has been carefully planned out.

one piece why is it so popular?

Likewise, it feels like there’s been an incredible amount of attention paid to the main plot’s finer details, with some subtle foreshadowing often leading to big developments hundreds of episodes after the fact. Also, it’s still amazing how seamlessly the show can transition from awesome action to drama to comedy and anything else there is to offer.

It’s not perfect by any means. The pacing, especially over the past 200 or so episodes, has slowed down quite a bit to the point where I honestly haven’t even been able to keep up with it on a weekly basis. Simply, not enough happens on a weekly basis to make it worth watching.  I’m now waiting for entire arcs to finish so I can marathon them.

    Reasons to Like One Piece

    1.
    Great Plot

One piece is an epic tale about a kid who sails to become the pirate king, as in ruler of all the seas, and on his adventures, he teams up with people who all want dreams to come true.

The wonder of One Piece isn’t that it’s “clever” or “mature” it’s that it isn’t! It’s hilarious and the style is super unique. Personally, I love One Piece art because it proves that you don’t need whatever you consider “good” art to weave a wonderful story. Plus it’s just fun to look at. Especially because, with the way the style is, the expression of the characters’ emotions is heightened.

Furthermore, it also has intense emotional moments which got me crying not only once.

    2.
    Nakama

Speaking of Nakama, one piece does have the incredibly important theme of friendship and ‘Nakama’ pervading throughout the whole series. it creates such a huge bond between the straw hats, and also adds to the emotional scenes, etc.

Also, it’s awesome, how Oda manages to give each crew member enough time to shine and bestow every member with such a unique personality, that every team constellation is simply awesome if the Straw Hats were to split up for some time. His story-telling is just off the charts.

    3.
    Compelling Characters and Character Development

The most amazing thing about One Piece is the characters! Characters that you forgot even existed come up in a super important way all the time. It’s so much fun to see them after they’ve matured a little! You even grow to love the insignificant characters because they’re so outlandish and hard to forget.
The Straw Hat Pirates are a wacky cast of characters and all diverse.

    4.
    Antagonists

The antagonists of the series are seriously great as well because their behavior doesn’t always reflect their personalities & vice-versa.

    5.
    Devil Fruits

Each devil fruit has unique powers and that’s what makes every devil fruit user interesting.

There are three types: Paramecia, Zoan, and Logia.

    6.
    Mesmerizing Quote

No one can ever wonder how an anime can teach you a way of life and affect you that deep. That’s some deep philosophy right there.

    7.
    Fights

I personally think that One Piece’s greatest merit is the fighting system.
Sword fights, devil fruit users, haki users, and firepower, etc., and many many ways to fight with and it comes down to who gets beaten down first, mostly by using brute force.

Every character comes up its unique fighting techniques like Luffy’s 1st,2nd, and 3rd gear or Zoro’s Santoryu.

  • Is Mob Psycho 100 Worth Watching?

Is Mob Psycho 100 Worth Watching?

Hello everyone, sorry for not writing more regularly am just busy with everything and am still trying to get the blog properly ready.

With the second season of mob psycho 100 about to start, I finally pushed the first season up my “To-watch” list, which is a long list by the way, because I have so many recommendations and animes I dig up myself.  Mob Psycho 100 was one of those anime I first found when it was in its manga form.

To be entirely honest, I didn’t think much with this series. I was going to skip over it and not even bat an eye at it–why?  I tend to steer away from “stereotypical” shōnen series today. I thought this series was going to be the same formula. I was wrong.

Mob Psycho 100 was created by One, the pen name of a manga artist, who is best known for is other work One-Punch Man plus he’s mysterious, I mean he could be the guy standing next to you now as your reading this.

I also find him as an inspiration cause he didn’t wait to get poached by a big publishing company but started serialization of his web manga on his own website, before One-Punch Man was later remade as a digital manga illustrated by Yusuke Murata and is kept on the web version of Weekly Young Jump. While Mob Psycho 100 is serialized in the online version of Weekly Shõnen Sunday.

One got up and did what he loved which creating manga we all have been touch, inspired or just enjoyed. Which I feel everyone who creates something wants to do connect with other people on some level. And he accomplished all those things which can be hard especially when you first start creating.

I really just admire is get up and go attitude “we will figure it out as we go”, which is a lot like me and how I went about creating my blog.

          So back to the main topic;

    Mob Psycho 100

    Mob Psycho 100

    AUTHOR: One

    STUDIOS: Bones

    SOURCE: web manga

GENRES: Action, Slice of Life, Comedy, Supernatural

EPISODES: 12 (but wanted way more at least 13 more)

    PREMIERED: Summer 2016

     Synopsis

Eighth-grader Shigeo Kageyama is an average middle school boy, nicknamed Mob (モブ Mobu)(meaning “background character”) for lacking a sense of presence. Although he looks like an inconspicuous person, he is in fact a powerful esper since a young age. Mob’s only use for his ability is to impress his longtime crush, Tsubomi, who soon grows bored of the same tricks.

As he grows older, Mob realizes that his psychic powers are strengthening and becoming more of a liability when he realizes the potential danger in his skill. To avoid his power getting out of control, he constantly lives a life under an emotional shackle. Mob wants to live a normal life just like the others, but a barrage of trouble keeps coming after him. With the suppressed emotions growing inside Mob little by little, his power threatens to break through its limits.

In order to gain control over his powers, Mob enlists himself under the wing of Arataka Reigen, a con artist claiming to be a psychic, who exploits Mob’s powers for pocket change. Now, exorcising evil spirits on command has become a part of Mob’s daily, monotonous life. However, the psychic energy he exerts is barely the tip of the iceberg; if his vast potential and unrestrained emotions run berserk, a cataclysmic event that would make him completely unrecognizable will be triggered.

    My Thoughts

Mob Psycho 100 was pure joy to watch from beginning to end, every episode felt more like 10 minutes than the real 24 minutes. Every hyped I heard about the show was justified.

The premise is pretty simple, An ordinary kid who tries to live a normal life with abnormal ability is the basic idea. However, the series delivers many scenarios where Mob uses his powers way more than he should.

Plus, we had director Yuzuru Tachikawa on board as part of the staff. Known for his work such as Death Parade, Terror in Tokyo, and Kill la Kill, so not surprising everything came out so beautifully.

The visual followed the manga pretty closely, they really brought the world to life. There were scenes which made me laugh sometimes cause some characters designs and reactions were just hilarious.

The action sequences were just a treat to watch, Mob Psycho 100 was brought to live by the famed studio, Bones, so it shouldn’t have been surprised it would come out so well. I found myself getting really pumped and falling in love with this world.

I loved the opening sound track “99” by MOB CHOIR, it was really great.

    99 by MOB CHOIR
    99 (MOB PSYCHO 100 INTRO THEME) [CD+DVD]

For a kid who wants a normal life, he gets into many abnormal situations which puts him at risk. It’s interesting to also see what often triggers Mob to get involved in such unusual events, social peer pressure and bullying are a few factors.

These situations let us see just how powerful Mob is. and see just how much he struggles to put a lid on his powers. While he isn’t a Saitama 2.0, Mob’s abilities are not to be underestimated. In the battles he’s been in, Mob is able to overpower his opponents, sometimes without even realizing it.

Mob also seeks admiration and even wants to impress a girl he likes so this leads to him making mistakes at times. I mean, he is still human and humans make mistakes. And all this is relatable in a sense.

    Mob Psycho 100 Arataka Reigen

    Reigen

Reigen is also an interesting character who is known as “Mob’s master”. He claims a lot of things and often speaks and lies with the truth. Despite being manipulative, he isn’t a bad guy and often looks out after Mob’ well-being.

He also offers good advice to Mob including what really makes someone a “better person”. One weakness that I do find about him though is his unwillingness to admit mistakes.

    Mob Psycho 100 Teruki

    Teruki

Somewhere between, there’s Teruki (“Teru”). I have to admit though, this guy has one of the most ridiculous hair styles I’ve ever seen from ONE’s work. Unlike Mob, he freely uses his esper powers like if they are God’s holy gift.

What makes him interesting is how after meeting Mob, Teru undergoes a big change in his character. It’s like a bully that reinvent himself after getting put to his place for the first time in their life. Quite iconic if you ask me.

    Mob Psycho 100 Dimple

    Dimple

Finally, Dimple strikes to me as the most mysterious character. In fact, he isn’t even human! He’s actually a spirit who even at one time had his own cult. What makes him interesting is despite having a God-like complex and ego, Dimple also wants others  to succeed in particular Mob.

And that just a few of the colorful character cast in this series and they are all interesting and relatable.

    Mob Psycho 100 Episode 2

I found myself very attached to Mob and feeling sad for him when things went bad. Maybe it was because am an older brother too, kindred spirits and all. I don’t really know but he was a character that was very human like.

It was an excellent production and as me tempted to read the manga out of anticipation for the second season. Also honourable mention Mob Psycho 100 won the Shōnen 62nd Shogakukan Manga Award. So that most be saying something so please go watch it if you haven’t, you will love it.

    Mob Psycho 100 second season
Now go watch Mob Psycho 100 season 1 before they start season 2 coming this 2019

  • Just How Deep Was Elfen Lied? The Theory

Just How Deep Was Elfen Lied? The Theory

Most anime fans have heard of Elfen Lied by now. It’s infamous for its twisted, dark humor and is filled with nudity. I mean, the first five minutes of Elfen Lied is LITERALLY of a naked woman slaughtering people. But, despite that, it does have some deeper messages such as accepting yourself and your inner demons.

    elfen lied lucy anime

    The Basic Plot

Elfen Lied is something else. Definitely not your typical anime. Elfen Lied is not something that you want to enjoy a sunny day with. The violence and nudity may put some people off of this series, but I have to say that the story would not have had the same impact without it.

We have a young woman who has just escaped from a high-security government facility, where she was held against her will. And it is quite obvious from the brutal massacre that ensures that she is a very troubled individual with plenty of hate for the human race, and perhaps deservedly so. Then after she is essentially shot off of a cliff by a sniper under the direction of the director of the facility, she ends up on the shore of the beach where she runs into Kohta and Yuka. Still naked.

    Because of Fanservice

And this is where the story starts to disappoint me. The writers of this show then decided, after creating such an interesting character, they needed to turn her, through the ever-so-convenient plot device of memory loss, into some sort of mentally challenged child with the body of a young adult who can only utter the phrase “Nyu”.  And she has horns that suspiciously look like cat ears. Soon after, more girls come to join Kohta’s new “family” and yes, you get to see most of them naked.

Besides what’s going on in front of the viewer’s eyes, there is an ongoing plot in the background about the Diclonius race. I found this plot pretty intriguing as well, but it, unfortunately, takes a back seat to the character drama, which was… somewhat disappointing.

Still, we do have a few moments and scenes that make the show worth it. Most of us can relate to Lucy in her moments of wanting to forget her past and just be a normal, human girl. While most of us(probably) don’t go around with a split personality killing people, we DO still want to be and feel accepted for who we are.

    What About the Characters?

This is where I had my biggest bone to pick with this series. Most of the characters came off as either unrealistic or came off as pathetic excuses for fanservice. And the relationships were sometimes a little too forced.

Especially note the latter; relationships. It’s an important aspect, as they are the main factor to why the Diclonius are so “cruel”. “Cruel” because they aren’t the real cruel ones; that honor goes to the humans.

    Elfen Lied Characters…

Kohta is pretty much your typical harem anime protagonist.  He does offer some depth, but he is also unrealistic. I don’t expect fictional characters to act like real people, but they need to have a certain amount of believability. Any sane, real human being would turn in a lost, naked girl to the police. Not to mention, give a girl pants if she is obviously lacking some.

Yuka is… well, Yuka is the kind of cousin who wants you. Really badly.  She is content with longing for her wimpy, pushover of a cousin. I’m sorry, but why was this needed in the story, especially when there was already a love interest for Kohta? This part really bothered me. I would have enjoyed Elfen Lied more if they let this part out.

Lucy, on the other hand, was the meat of the story and, at least in my eyes, was much more of the main character than Kohta could ever be. I thought the flashback to her past was really well done and I admit I did feel sorry for her, even if half the time she was a sadistic murderer and the other half what amounted to a naked child.

    Conclusion

Now, did I enjoy this series? On occasion. But it was very hard to watch, and I only kept watching because everyone else seemed to think this was some sort of masterpiece.  And the fanservice was so over-the-top that it was gross. I really don’t need to see naked fourteen-year-olds, and even when the fanservice involved older characters, it wasn’t very tastefully done and was way too overdone.
